Five Finger Death Punch Replaces Guitarist?

Band Photo: Five Finger Death Punch (?)
Metalsludge.tv has issued the following statement about Five Finger Death Punch apparently replacing their guitarist:
"A hot rumor floating around NAMM this weekend is that Five Finger Death Punch has fired guitarist Darrell Roberts and replaced him with Jason Hook.
Sources close to guitarist Zoltan and drummer Jeremy are confirming the same story. This makes sense as Jeremy has had an on going friendship with Hook since he played drums on Hook's solo Cds. Jason recently has been playing guitar along side Keri Kelli in the Alice Cooper Band.
Darrell Roberts played guitar for W.A.S.P. for several years during the Neon God recordings and tours. Previous to the W.A.S.P. stint he played with TUFF to his admitted regret. Roberts is the signature Metallica guitar sound on the TUFF hit "American Hair Band" which was recorded during his tenure in the band in late 2000 into 2001. Roberts also played the "James Hetfield" role in the late 90s West Coast popular Alcholica (Metallica tribute band)."

It's such a lame move when a completely irrelevant band comes on the board and claims that they are better than the band the actual article is about. How f@cking lame is that !!??? All Shall Perish could use a guitarist like Darrell - haha - doubt they could get him though! Really... Who the f@ck cares about ASP d00de, it's a totally unimportant band even in Death Metal standards! They sold what, like 200 records in their entire existence. I know it's fashionable to hate big bands, but hate them or not big bands are the important bands, and obscure sh** will be always... well obscure.
5FDP killed at Mayhem. It's one of the best bands you will ever see live and that's why they are so big. Now that they are famous, it's a trend to hate them... a TREND, so you are not so original with that. Anyhow, f@ck ASP what I wanna know is if this rumor is true or not. There is nothing on Blabbermouth, here, or on the band's website. This rumor is the only thing circulating. (???)

BlindGreed- You know, I missed them. I went for Mastodon + Machine Head. Before, during and after Mastodon's set the main stage crowd was getting chaotic and I didn't feel like making the hike over to the side stage when sh** was going down on the lawn. I saw three fights and there were fires and a stand off between the riot inciters and security (standard procedure for the Glen Helen crowd). Then Dragonforce came on the stage and the mood went from heavy metal madness to adolscent Guitar Hero worshipping pussiness. At that time I went over to the side stage and Machine Head was about to start, so I watched them tear it up.
If not for Dragonforce's gayness, I might have even missed Machine Head!
The whole organization of the Mayhem show sucked donkey balls!

Hmm, some smart a$$ is trying to make a fool out of me. Also, Bristowe, why would you bring ASP into the mix? It looks like you play guitar in your picture, how come you don't realize how talented Chris Storey is?
I think they have a very bland sound Irish. Idk why, but I just do. I agree with DeathInEye, stay ON topic.
hey dumbf*** who is using my name, your logic is very unsupported. How can it be a trend to hate something? I don't like them because I don't like their sound.

This has been bugging me for a while now. Has nothing to do with Five Finger Death Punch, just music in general. Why is it when someone doesn't like a band it's cause they are jealous, p***ed off, following a trend, or a hater? I've always thought I didn't like certain bands because the music they made didn't appeal to me. I never realized I was such a jealous, p***ed off, trend following, hater.
I'd like to think people can decide for themselves what they like or don't like. If people are consistently disliking a band's music I don't know that you can really call that a "trend". It might just say something about the music.

Netro: that was my point exactly about KORNDOGG'S post on the Cory Taylor thread. I'm not angry, hell I don't even hate them. I just hate it when people say a certain genre or group is "gay" because they don't appriciate what it is, or in KORNDOGG's case don't understand it.

Did they have a re-issue? I bought the album a little over a year ago and it's the only one out but i keep hearing 2 songs on the radio that aren't on my disc. no big deal since i don't like those songs anyway (stranger than fiction, maybe called & never enough), just wondering if there's something new coming out soon or what?
29. writes:
Stranger than Fiction kicks a$$$...I don't really care too much for Never Enough. On that note, everyone who digs Ivan's vocals need to check out Ghost Machine...it is simply spectacular. I think GM has already released 2 albums. I highly recommend Ghost Machine.

I think you missed my point, jayballer. I don't care enough about most bands to "hate", "hate on", or be a "hater". I simply don't like the music. I think most people are the same. I dislike rap music. But I don't sit at home thinking of ways I can insult or put down people who make it or their fans. I don't walk outside a music store with a big sign or try to get people to sign petitions. I simply don't listen to it. No more, no less. Other people enjoy it, hey, knock yourself out. Have a ball. I just don't.
My point is, can people have an opinion on a band without it being some kind of conspiracy?

Quote [ "Not important. This band is terrible. Hopefully they break up and all join good bands." ]
Shut the f@*k up J. Shall Perish! You are a f**ng hypocrite , what you're doing right there IS the perfect definition of a HATER.
You start with the sarcastic "Not important". That's relative, but I'm trying to be fair here... Like it or not this band is way too big now to be considered "not important" . You may dislike them but you are part of the minority with that... the rest of the world have a different opinion.
"Terrible" is also relative, and even though you have the right to think whatever you want, your opinion lost ground since you went into a childish frenzy with the "Hopefully they break up and all join good bands" . That is a sad 'Hater' stab and places you in the 12-16 immature group on the short bus... with other words, your opinion became completely dismissable.
5FDP didn't reinvent the wheel, but it is still the best metal band to come out in the last 8-9 years.

Woah now. I'm gonna call bullsh** on that one.
I have nothin bad to say about 5fdp, I've never heard there music, but my friends who have tell me they're ok, so whatever,I'm not gonna judge prematurely, but honestly? Best in the past 8-9 years? Stop going to nickelback concerts, because that't the only way I can see you as being that sheltered.
37. writes:
Well, I gave the new album a listen. And I have to say I wasn't overly impressed but it wasn't bad. I'm still kinda on the fence whether I like them or not. As a band they are pretty tight, but studio recordings pretty much always are these days. I found the lyrics to be a bit uninspired though I appreciate the singer's style change ups.
I think what it is for me, is that they don't seem to bring anything particularly new to the table. While they are good at what they do it's been done before. I can see why alot of folks like them though.
38. writes:
Netro - there're a few live songs on the album and thye sound just as tight. I'm seeing them support LOG on feb the 20th so I'll know for sure if they are as tight as they seem. I like their music because it has a fair bit of aggression in it, and I really like those kind of vocals.

39. writes:
Cynic It was (is) my opinion. That's not stooping down.
It's a well balanced band with shred + melodies + agression + good riffs + good vocals + good break downs... so in my humble opinion they are one of the best if not the best (NEW) band in the last few years and as Netromancer pointed out, in the studio any band can sound good and fix sh** up but these blokes have what Pantera had going for them, they translate BETTER live than most bands.
40. writes:
There are some things that you need to say "in my opinion" in front of - otherwise your statement comes off extremely ignorant of all the metal bands you are unknowingly sweeping aside. Only because you used the word "metal", in which case you are including a massive raft of bands probably little of which you have even heard of.
42. writes:
5FDP has Devil's Own on it ..that song by itself is just killer... Yes - 5FDP has great vocals, and the guitar playing is very good...some of the riffs just catch me by surprise..perhaps some people don't like Moody's vocal style. I enjoyed the guy in Motograter and Ghost Machine. Once again, music is subjective..some people like this band, some do not. I bought it, and was very happy with it.

Seriously Bra?
Nothing you can say can change my views of this band. I am the minority?? I can find MANY MANY MANY MANY metalheads that dislike this band. And this is NOT the best band to come out in the past 8-9 years, I can list 3 off the top of my head that are better than this band.
1) Winds of Plague
2) The Absence
3) The Eyes Of A Traitor
MUCH BETTER!!

New bands? Sunn O))), Mastodon, Xasthur, Agalloch, Alcest, Doomsword, Blotted Science etc - they're all popular bands which I never hear anyone disown. Well, there is a cult of Xasthur haters actually... but they're are all in the 8/9 year range.
...and actually Sunn and BS are new bands by old hands but whatever.
53. writes:
Yep they sure are handy... hmm, can't say I listen to any death/metalcore at all... maybe you're the one guy who'll like Cryptopsy's new album! Famous death metal band, got well slandered by turning into a full blown deathcore band - I'd check it out you'll probably dig it. Death metal's best drummer imo.
56. writes:
Hmm, I don't know how else to explain what I'd like to hear except for the following things...
1) Vocalist doesn't stay with one style of growl. At least 3 different types lol (like Winds of Plague or Eyes of a Traitor)
2) Technical guitar, heavy riffs with background melody type shiznitch, like the song Anthems of the Apocalypse by Winds of Plague lol.
3) ENOUGH WITH THE f***ING BLAST BEATS, they are annoying and there are only a couple bands that can pull them off. I hate excessive blast beats, and gravity beats as well.
4) At least a good bassist lol.
58. writes:
Definitely Netro, anyone who appreciates the greatness of Doomsword is a champ in my books!
Hmm well Cryptopsy have all of those on there new album I think, although they probably have heaps of blast beats... maybe? They got a keyboardist anyway. There bassist is the god damn man... or at least he used to be.
Sigh, Cryptopsy what happened to you?

Arsis is f***in spectacular. Arsis' 'We are the Nightmare' was hands down, 2008's best album. Few bands can be amazingly technical and insanely catchy at the same time. I highly recommend 'A Celebration of Guilt' as well, which is just as good. Random? Suck my d***.

I'm reading this everywhere, but it is said to be a rumor not official news. The band was seen at NAMM hanging out together (including Roberts) just yesterday. How can this be true?
