God Forbid guitarist Doc Coyle has posted a new blog on MetalSucks.net. An excerpt from the blog can be viewed below:
"Seriously, I'm talking about haterade because I think bands that get hated on generally become more successful. Right now, I'm hoping, pleading and wishing for this album to be panned by critics, internet trolls and whoever wants to shit on it. You may ask me, "Why Dallas? Why dost thou-eth needest us to protesteth soeth mucheth?" Because we need some boiling water in our career. We need people to hate. We need people to defend. We need to fight a fucking war for this record to push us to another place. We are a successful band. I want to be more successful. I want anyone out there who hates God Forbid to say they hate us. I don't want reasons. I don't want debates. I want hate!!!
"I have a theory about why people don't drink God Forbid Haterade. Let's look at the careers of the most recent hated bands: TRIVIUM, AVENGED SEVENFOLD, BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE are just a couple of examples. These bands have great careers, but they have strong Haterade Brands. I'm sure their myspace messages are divided up into fan mail and hate mail. We've received hate mail and it's pretty fucking great. But not as widespread as I really want and need it to be. These bands catch hate for a vast amount of reasons, but mostly I think it's because they have images not because of their music. I think it's because people can't stand that people like them. I also think it's because they are white! It's very normal and OK in our society to hate white people. I don't hate white people but it's real easy to hate a successful white person.
"It's a Catch 22 to hate on God Forbid. It's like the debates we had with Barack Obama. If you're white and hate us, people think you're racist. If you're black and hate us, you're a sell out. If you're Hispanic and hate us, just go do some cocaine.
"Get charged up! Show the true hate. We need a career with lefts, rights, love, hate... I'm saying it right here and now. If you can't stand our band and are afraid to talk shit about us because people will think you're racist, don't worry about it. I know you are, so talk as much shit as you want! If you're black and hate us because we're doing what you want to do, don't worry about. I know you're an Uncle Tom!
"In all seriousness, if you can't stand the music, the personalities or just my stupid mouth, please tell your friend, your mom, your grandma, your psychiatrist, your girlfriend, that we suck... I never really had anything against them, they were just kind of a "whatever" band. I'm kinda weirded out by what he's saying... and like Cynic said it's pretty f***ing weak for him to outright say he wants to be successful like Trivium and Bullet.

God Forbid are good and haven't really had the metalcore sound since their first 2 ablums. What he's saying is that if a band has any kind of mainstream success it's because they are posers or at least that' s what people will say. The words taken from this are more of a joke than anything. Cynic obviously doesn't get it. Meanwhile he's listening to Gwar right now, a terrible band. You want to talk about posers...shock rock is there for the show, the music is crap. They dress up like retards and screw blowup dolls on stage to sell tickets. That's why they don't sell many albums but pack small venues all over. Nobody cares about their music. And to drizzle, GF are not a Killswitch ripoff, they sound different, they're better, and have been around longer.

For one, GWAR are a great crossover/thrash band - people just can't see past the costumes because they are the type of people who judge on appearance. I first heard "Immortal Corrupter" on the RADIO, and it is a killer song whether they dress up or not. The image is cool, but I'd listen to GWAR's good albums (TVHA, SOTU) with or without!
All I read from his post is - we want to make money and be famous, and we're prepared to sell-out to do so! But then again they're a generic metalcore band, so they've got no respect to lose from the metal community anyway.

Just seems insulting to be labelled racist for having an opinion on a certain band's music. Guess Ill just pop on some Orange Sky, Sevendust, Body Count, Stuck Mojo, Sepultura, etc. and stay on the safe side. Wouldnt want to "hate on" them and be in the wrong. Oh, and am looking forward to the new Alice in Chains.

Couple of things: 1. We have more acceptance in the metal world than any other genre of music.
2. Wanting to make more money doesn't really make you a sell out unless you go the Metallica route.
3. GWAR may be silly and ridiculous, but when you come out and say that you are ridiculous, criticism shouldn't bother you
4. Scumdogs of the Universe was an unreal album, and an instant classic.

what i read here, and from interviews i've seen with these guys leads me to believe that they have no intentions of selling out, he's half joking. i'm sure they want to make more money. this is what these bands do for a living. how there kids eat and have a place to live.
i have to disagree with the acceptance part of what you say, and i usually agree w/ u patriot, but a lot of people hate bands and classify them all as garbage because of genre, who they tour with, whether or not they get radio play, color, religion or lack of. i personally don't give a sh** and am open minded.

Man I met the singer from this band when they opened for hatebreed. he was kind of an a$$hole. doesnt care about his fans at all. after the show he was at the booth and i went up to him to say sweet show , and ive never heard them till that night. completly shrugged me off. just didnt want to be there and didnt care. f*** him. i was gonna buy a cd too. so f*** this band.

only band member/musician i've ever met that i didn't really care for or thought was friendly was the singer from disturbed. met him and the drummer by the bathroom at the Vic theater during a Machine Head show about 7 yrs ago.
otherwise met guys from sevendust, dry kill logic, hatebreed, machine head, nothingface, relative ash, hed pe, soulfly, bury your dead, and they were all cool.

I never minded God Forbid before this, but what he said just totally makes him look like a douche. And I really don't think these guys will ever get too big and famous.. I've met the singer and he's actually a pretty cool guy (then again, this was 6 or 7 years ago), but the guitarists were both kind of douchebags, so I guess I couldn't expect too much.
By the way, GWAR rock. They're weird and ridiculous ("Phallus in Wonderland", anyone?) but when it comes down to it, they make pretty good music.

GWAR is incredible. Their last two albums were more metal too, which was awesome. I go to the show every year and sing along to all their songs, their show just makes it so much more worth going. You really get your money's worth.
I don't know about GF, i think if this were a joke, it wouldnt be this long tirade, yknow? He was probably just drunk and uninhibited and feeling like an a$$hole. This post just kind of rambles, and doesn't say anything thoughtful or very clearly.
Or maybe hes just that desperate for any kind of attention. I don't remember hearing that much about their last album, it feels like it just kind of came and went.
