Mike Patton Doesn't Rule Out Faith No More Reunion

Artisan News Service reports: Mike Patton, currently fronting MONDO CANE and about four other different bands, made his mark in the late '80s, early '90s fronting FAITH NO MORE. It was the band's "The Real Thing" album that created the funk-metal craze, opened the door for the RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS brand of funk-rock, and tipped off what would become the nu-metal revolution. Bands as diverse as KORN and the MIGHTY MIGHTY BOSSTONES benefitted from their groundbreaking work, with songs like "Epic" and "From Out Of Nowhere". Throw in NIRVANA, and the alternative revolution was born.
Artisan News Service spoke to Mike Patton and asked him if he thought "The Real Thing" would be as influential to music as any album in the last 20 years.
On whether he is aware of "The Real Thing"'s influence:
Patton: "No, but it's not my place to criticize. I just make the music and put it out there. Where it fits in the world, how important it is, how important it isn't is up to people like you. I have nothing to say about it."
On how he remembers his days with FAITH NO MORE:
Patton: "Fondly. They were good years. It was a decade of my life. It was lots of ups and lots of downs, but ultimately that's where I learned my chops and learned the craft and the business."
With "The Real Thing" celebrating 20 years next year, is there a possibility of getting back together with the FAITH NO MORE guys?
Patton: "I wouldn't rule it out. I don't think we would need to reform the band, but maybe there's other things we can do together."

I was 9 when the Real Thing came out. Along with Metallica, Slayer and Alice in Chains at the time--FNM were one of the most important bands to me at that point.
I remember how the video caused such a stir because of the flopping, gasping fish. I did kind of feel bad for it, but the uproar that followed that video because of that was so absurd. It's a damn fish....
Now Playing: Converge - "First Light"

RM?, that makes you 27 or 28 then? I was 4 and unfortunately dont remember its (The real thing) release, but did grow up with Faith no more, Slayer, Metallica, A.I.C, and such. Hearing new material would be great and seeing them live even better. I would be up for it and hope they do get back together. Another band that should reunite is Carcass.

I'm 27 year old scrawny metal bastard and I've been a metal fan for about 20 of those years.
FNM reunion would be great.
As a general rule I'm happy with most things Patton does (Peeping Tom was a let down for me)....He needs to make another rock album though...That last Tomahawk record, while good, was as un-rock as it gets.
Now Playing: Genghis Tron - "Board up the House"

That's good to know. I've been using this site for years for my information in the metal community, way before I became a moderator. This site has a very dedicated staff I believe is it's appeal (I don't just say that because I'm a part of that staff, I've thought so since I started using it in 2005).
Yes a full time Carcass reunion would be awesome, would make the metal community seem a bit better at least. Along with a full time FNM reunion obviously.
By the way, cheers for the support on the Korn thread lol.
Now playing: Celtic Frost- Visual Aggression

No problem Dimond! You are 110 percent correct in the Korn thread my friend! I like that the news gets updated around the clock and most of all be able to talk about the news. Its an interactive metal mag and that bloody rocks! Two things I love metal and socializeing! The mighty Deathbringer is going to look into internship stuff for the site. I want to become a metal journalist and think this site would be perfect for intern work. I am trying to remember the name of a song that FNM did that was funny and ranchy. Its been driveing me nuts all day! Hahahaha!

If Faith No More got back together, I would probably poo my pants with happiness hahah :P
I agree with RM? though, Peeping Tom are NOT my thing. Love Tomohawk, though Mr. Bungle have always been my favourite. Crazy sh** hahah. Hate to sound like a mental leper, but what the hell is Mondo Cane? I've never even heard of it before...

Am I the only one who preferred Angel Dust to The Real Thing? I liked Epic, but just wasn't really into FNM so much at the time. I think I did go back and buy The Real Thing later, so I should probably give it a listen again... I love when news makes me revisit some old bands I haven't listened to for years.
All this reminds me of the editorial I just recently read on heavymetalcomedy.com: http://www.heavymetalcomedy.com/editorial.html

I remember when I got this cassette back in '89 and just wore it out. It still holds up 20 years later. I would love to see Faith No More again!
