I Killed The Prom Queen Call it Quits

Band Photo: Bleeding Through (?)
Australian metallers I KILLED THE PROM QUEEN have called it a day. In a statement announcing their decision to go separate ways, the band write, "The final nail in the coffin came when Jona was asked to join USA metal group BLEEDING THROUGH as second guitarist. This, coupled with our inability to find a replacement vocalist, aided the decision to end the band.
"We would all like to sincerely thank all our friends and family and our label's Stomp, Metal Blade, Golf and Howling Bull Records for their ongoing support of IKTPQ and most of all we would like to thank all the fans that made the last seven years the most amazing years of our lives. We feel that we made a good impact on the Australian and worldwide music scenes. We also apologise for the cancellation of our USA tour dates.
"The band will announce a final farewell Australian tour in the coming months."

Emo is eating itself.
cool.
Cynic! Deathbringer is interested in getting you on board for album reviews go to the info button and then the contact button and provide the info it asks. I've been putting in a word for ya. Take it easy.

Oh right really? Yes I suppose I can squish that in between my university work, that's why I've been absent for a bit - Who knew computer science would involve so much damn calculus? Tis my birthday tomorrow as well so I think that extra cash will be bookmarked for new cds.

I find it hilarious how many views this thread has had (yes, my own included) considering how much everybody supposed hates IKTPQ. I thank f**k that these bastards have finally called it quits - maybe people can open there eyes a bit more to music with a message outside of the category "I wish my mum hadn't stolen my car keys. Excuse me while I cry."
And as for opening up the Australian music scene to the world? All they've done is reinforce that we're more Americanised sheep than ever. Maybe if we were actually Aussies we'd produce something worth listening to.

the number one problem i had with them is they really really p***ed me off with the whole 'prom queen' thing. does any school in australia have proms? ive never heard of it. maybe in adelaide. but it does make them sound like an american band. (read: try hard). but they made good music.

I'll add to this - I Killed The Prom Queen is a SHlT name, but the band wasn't emo, and wasn't too bad - particularly for Australian metalcore. In fact, they were some of the best metalcore Australia has produced (unfortunately, metalcore over here is even worse than in the US).
Everyone here saying they were emo knows next to nothing about music, genres, or the interweaving of the two.
That said, I'm not entirely displeased that they've split. In fact, I think I'm glad.

Psythe is indeed right.
I jumped the gun on calling these guys emo. Must've gotten swept up in the mob.
All I had heard previously was a brief clean vocal part...To these ears it sounded like the spawn of Depeche Mode's and Weezer's vocalists. Fair grounds for calling the band something negative but not quite emo....Close though. As it turns out I mistook them for Aiden.
This lot are kind of interchangable.
I killed the Prom Queen sound exactly like Bleeding Through without the keys and more capable guitarists....I assume this is why Bleeding Through snatched this guy.
Bleeding Throughs singer's clean vox are disgraceful...Listen to "For Love and Failing" and be astounded.

Sup Muderface/Zero Tolerance - yeah man I've been run off my feet with work since the holidays, but I'm back and with a better internet connection than ever (I can finally view all these youtube vids that are posted here!).
I think the word emo has warped a bit since its induction into po-culture. It's pretty much a general insult now (especially in metal crowds with the coincidental rise of metalcore), not unlike the constant flinging of the word gay.

Bleeding Through are great, if you're looking for simple, straightforward, mediocre hardcore. Although, RM? has a point about Mr Vocalist's singing. Not really what I'm looking for, but when you need some music to just drone to, they work. Speaking for myself here, obviously.
And Cynic makes a good point in post 50, too (second paragraph, hahah). It almost seems these days that a band can be counted emo merely on the merits of their dress-code, rather than the actual music they create. Then again, I've heard the term "Mallcore" thrown about before - what is that, is that like, metalcore but wearing emo clothes? Maybe we should hate bands for being 'mall' now, and not for being emo, hahah. Hell, at least proper emo music never pretended to be nothing else. There's almost an integrity there that can be hard to find in the mainstream metal (read: Nu-metal) community...

hey guys i'm sorry but you mis-understand emo. IKTPQ's lyrics were just like those of your favorite "REAL" metal bands. There is always something to b**** about in our society. just because they like to mix it up and throw actual singing lyrics in this sh** doesn't make them emo. there are too many bands out there that sound like Hatebreed (nothing against them at all.) but come on guys lets put some effort into our music, and make it original.
