Chris Cornell Splits Audioslave, Plans To Tour Heavily For Solo Album

Band Photo: Audioslave (?)
Chris Cornell has split Audioslave, the band he formed with three former members of Rage Against The Machine, due to unspecified "irresolvable personality conflicts as well as musical differences," according to a statement.
"This is something I don't want to do anymore," Cornell tells Billboard.com of Audioslave. "There were problems from the very beginning and we dealt with them in a great way. We made three great records. We were a band that got along great, but we've also had our differences. My focus is definitely on doing my own music now.
Indeed, Cornell is quickly moving on to his second solo album, "Carry On," due May 1 via Suretone/Interscope. The 14-track set was produced by Steve Lillywhite and includes a cover of Michael Jackson's "Billy Jean" (which Cornell has been known to play live) as well as "You Know My Name," the theme to the recent James Bond film "Casino Royale."
The album is Cornell's first solo affair since 1999's "Euphoria Morning." Among the other songs set to appear are the country-leaning "Finally Forever" and the harder-edged "Poison Eye" and "No Such Thing."
Cornell is already assembling a band and plans to tour "extensively" in support of "Carry On," and says Audioslave's 2005 trip to Cuba made him realize "there are a lot of people who would enjoy seeing me play 20 years of recorded music in any context."
Last month, guitarist Tom Morello, bassist Tim Commerford and drummer Brad Wilk announced they were reuniting with Rage vocalist Zack de la Rocha for what they are claiming to be a one-off performance at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival in late April in Indio, CA.

GOOD...kind of awkward how Rage is getting back together for that ONE show?....yah right, audioslave is gone...welcome back RAtM!!!!!!. I hope to the skys that f***in rage returns, we need them in our situation with Bush i beleave...someone to strike a crowd of freespeech again.

I always thought that the timing of RATM's split was quite unfortunate. Right before W stole the election! If they would've stayed together, they would've easily been able to compile an album or three with all the material the government's been supplying since they split. Damn right, welcome back, RATM! As far as Audioslave goes, I say "Good riddance to bad rubbish." I'd rather make out with a homeless person than ever hear Audioslave ever again.

I like Rage Against the Machine. I also hate Bush because it's the popular thing right now. I don't know why I hate him, and I can't give a rational reason why I hate him, but everyone else does, and I want to be like everyone else. Accept me! PLEASE accept me!! God! F*cking morons! Think for yourself! Stand by your country! Leave if you don't like it! Learn to spell!! Okay, I'm done...

Gee, efleming, is that sarcasm? Oh my god, I didn't know people on message boards got sarcastic anymore! Thank the lord that good people like you are around to keep old tired traditions alive! You flag-waving fa**ot. You probably don't have any friends that DIED in IRAQ for NOTHING. I do think for myself, and that's why I disagree with the president. I don't love him just because my 60 year-old Baby-boomer parents will beat me with a belt if I don't, like YOURS. So hows about this? YOU go join the military and have your a$$ blown up by a C4 covered eight-year-old for nothing and then we'll see how much you support your president. I bet you listen to Rush Limbaugh, too. Yeah, you're the LAST person that should be on a heavy metal message board.

Alright we all saw this coming but I'm still a little shocked, Chris Cornell has an awesome voice but WHAT A F*CKING C*NT. Well maybe now Soundgarden will get back together, or maybe Rage Against The Machine will get back together for good. Once again Chris Cornell, WHAT A F*CKING C*NT!

Pardon me for supporting the country I live in. I started typing a passionate response for 10 minutes and I realized, this is not a political forum. So, I guess I'll summarize with three simple points: Soldiers are paid to die for their country. You have a right, given to you by this great country, to speak your mind. And, leave your politics at the door before you come in to this METAL forum. (I should heed my own advice.) Can't wait to hear the breaking news of Rage Against the Machine reuniting.

Hahaha, #7. Chances are you're an inbred farm boy living out in Bumf***, Middle of Nowhere USA and you care not about world issues, economics, politics, so on and so forth. How about you grow a pair and educate yourself as to what our country has really come to and what Bush Sr. and Jr. have done to us over the last two decades. Stand by my country? Maybe if this country stood by it's people first. Ignorance is bliss, huh? I bet you couldn't even point out where Iraq is on a f***ing map.

13. writes:
I left my politics at the door, efleming, it's just that the timing of RATM's breakup is quite ironic considering what ensued POLITICALLY afterwards. You're the one who got all pissy and sarcastic. I just defended myself against your unnecessary dumbassery. Soldiers may be paid, but just because a guy leaves behind a little bit of money can't replace the fact that he's dead. You insensitive a$$hole. You make a scene, and then blame ME for something YOU did first. You sound just like the president. This is an Audioslave/RATM thread, so expect a little bit of politics. If you are in favor of Bush, I don't even know why the f*** you're here. Go where you're wanted. Which, apparently, is Iraq. f***head.

Anyone heard any good METAL albums lately?

Wow, we got all the balls in the world in this medium. How did I get "owned", as you say? I haven't backed down, I'm standing by my convictions, I never lied and I feel quite smart. How can I get "owned" over an opinion? I like Chris Cornell's vocals... To stay on topic...

Saw em live in 2003, they were good. Cornell (to my surprise) was the weak link. The rest of the band (and even their sound man if you're aware of that aspect) were spot on.
Sad thing is Audioslave probably only have 1 good records worth of songs spread out over 3 albums, and ofcourse, the debut was the only thing with some pep.
I think the social and political landscape is ripe for a RATM reunion, they should at least do a one off album.

22. writes:
Thank you remembermetal?, I wholeheartedly agree.
Audioslave always seemed kinda funny to me. I always liked their funkiness, but that was in the other three members of the group that AREN'T Chris Cornell. The only thing I like about Chris Cornell is his voice, but for some reason, it never quite seemed to blend in with RATM's rhythm section. I'm somewhat of a purist, I guess. I miss RATM and Soundgarden, but between those two, Soundgarden hasn't aged as well as RATM has. All I was saying is that I am quite excited about the RATM reunion and I think they will have NO SHORTAGE of things to write about. I apologize so much for insulting efleming's hero, George W. Bush, but what I said about him ain't sh** compared to what Tom Morello has said!

24. writes:
How dare you dissent from the local opinion, efleming! You will think OUR way, or you will go elsewhere! Thanks for guarding the gates of Metal, Crawford! Those who believe differently must be stamped out or silenced!
Think what you will! Say what you will! Listen to whatever tickles your fancy. You're still free to do it here.
I never wanted to go to any war, so you know what I did? I kept my a$$ out of the military. Read carefully: I am not defending the decision to send any Americans overseas; but I'm pretty confident that not one single soldier over there was conscripted.
Word of the day: ad hominem - attacking an opponent's character rather than answering his argument
As far as I'm concerned, metal is for anyone who enjoys it. And I will welcome with open arms all opinions into the pit. I will happily headbang beside Jerry Falwell, Muhammad, Rob Halford, Jesse Jackson, Mother Theresa, AND Rush Limbaugh.
I was bummed to hear that Audioslave passed away (for they clearly cannot continue), but there'll always be the talent of Chris Cornell to enjoy in some form, and there's a good chance RATM will reunite and shake things up (though I can only take Zach's vocals in small doses: I was happy when the remnants of Rage joined forces with a vocal god, because their music has always been killer despite the whiny raps). Even so, the last two albums from Audioslave just weren't quite hard enough for me.

I agree wholeheartedly. That's all I'm looking for folks... Well thought out arguments to encourage further discussion. These attacks of character, rife with logical fallacy, while very amusing, don't do much to support a side to any debate. Toneeus, thank you for contributing with some well thought out, lucid, mature comments. Will you be here to point out more ad logicam debates? I could use an unbiased referee in this place. P.S. I just had to say this:
To post 7: Excusing your president for inexcusable acts is NOT showing support for your country. I realize that you pride yourself on being loyal, but what are you loyal to: a person or a principle? Because if you defend the president after all the sh** that he has f***ed up with the war in Iraq, hurricane Katrina, the deficit, the war on terror, the environment, undercutting science, hindering progress for the entire country, and pissing off the rest of the world so that we only have one real ally left, then you are more loyal to a person than you are to a principle, or to the truth, or to your country. That's just the way it is.

Toneeus Maximus: How dare you dissent from the local opinion, efleming! You will think OUR way, or you will go elsewhere!
Maybe I missed something but isn't an unpopular opinion just that. If one thinks something that rails against popular consensus, isn't the response supposed to reflect that.
I'm sure RATM are/were all too aware of that.
Instead of trying to find faults in the very nature of discourse, try shattering someones pov by taking apart the arguement, not faulting someone for being part of a majority.

31. writes:
That first Audioslave album was the best album I have ever heard period. There were so many great songs on that album. Great vocals, lyrics & guitar. That’s what happens when you get one of the greatest vocalists & one of the greatest guitarists ever playing together. What happened on the 3rd album though? It was not good & obviously, in retrospect, the beginning of the end.

32. writes:
Careful, RemberMetal?: I wasn't faulting anyone for being a part of anything. I definitely want to avoid that. I merely wanted to point out that we will never get anywhere by attacking the other person rather than trying to understand and respond to their argument; and, of course, we'll never understand anything at all if we refuse to even hear them (e.g., "go where you're wanted" "you're the LAST person that should be on a heavy metal message board").
Not sure about your first sentence... it just seems obvious. I don't understand the point you were trying to make.
No, we definitely don't like everything we hear, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't hear it. Someone is right, and someone is wrong, but we'll never figure out which is which if we can't compare the two.
I'm sorry I got pulled into this. It just caught my eye that someone was being attacked for what he was saying and told that he didn't belong. That kind of thing just gets to me.

37. writes:
A natural part of the discourse, especially around here, is insults and namecalling. Exposing the cracks in someones view is rarely enough. To be heard, you almost have to amuse everyone else following the dialogue. It's both sad and kind of funny.
It's completely backwards and a sign that someone is losing their grip on the subject and just wants make the other person look bad, dumb, wrong etc.
Reasoning works from time to time and it leads to some mutual respect but more often the headbutting springs up just to see how far someone is willing to go to prove their point. Especially if they're new or confrontational to begin with.

38. writes:
After working in the music industry for almost twenty years, I have mastered the art of deciphering Music Business Speak: "...unspecified "irresolvable personality conflicts as well as musical differences..." really means "I can, like, so TOTALLY make more money making shiny pop-rock drivel if I ditch these guys..."

39. writes:
It's so strange how these guys always need to end one thing to start another one. Like Cornell needs ALL his time to make his owns stuff, so Audioslave will have to go. When it comes down to RATM or Soundgarden reforming... dont know really. I think it's a bit weird to see RATM doing political metal/hip-hop onstage when the guys are close to their 40s... And Soundgarden, isnt Cameron with pearl jam now? And Kim Thayil has said several times that getting rid off Soundgarden was a "huge relief". So...

What's really funny is that all I did was make a comment about how RATM split before the Bush/Gore election hubris and some f***head got pissy because I used the term "stole". Just because efleming has a hard-on for him doesn't mean that I can't reference the President on a f***ing Audioslave thread. I defended myself. I'm not trying to come off as pious or better than anyone. I spoke my mind on the topic and efleming got mad. Now, through no fault of my own, I had to defend my character because someone got mad, not about my opinions on Audioslave, but my thoughts on the 2000 presidential "election". I'm not trying to guard any gates but my own. I am allowed to dislike the President no matter how bad efleming wants to f*** him. I guess this just goes to show how pissy you Audioslave fans really are. A bunch of goddamn babies looking for someone else with a different opinion to lay waste to. I've dealt with worse people that you, efleming. Your types make comments and then hide behind someone else's intentions. What's more pathetic? Arguing on a message board? Or CREATING your own argument and then being mad because YOU LOST IT? Piss off you whiny f***ing babies. No wonder metal's going to sh**.
Thanks anyways, remembermetal?. I understand your s/n now.

Why are you getting all over Audioslave fans? Weren't we just talking about the content of ones arguments being totally discredited because of personal attacks? You, and your argument haven't changed a bit. It's also my understanding that if two OPINIONS are being discussed, neither party can "win." You seem awfully hung up on who "wins" this discussion.

So if that is going to be the content of you're devastating repartee, I'm done. Since it's evident I can't have a civil conversation with you about this topic, I'll have to bid you goodbye. Noone doubts that you can read/write efleming, you seem like you're bright and more than reasonable. Don't leave the threads on the basis of one confrontation/person and always stick to your guns! Even if 50 people here loath or disregard your view. Crawford came off as the "winner" because you backed down/switched gears. In a clash of wills and views it's really up to the individual reader to determine for themselves who is more in the right, or at the very least better at arguing....
However,You shouldn't be surprised by the response you recieved, given the nature of post 7. I would be more than happy to justify my disregard of our president as one of the worst in recent history should you like to read it, just ask.

Couldnt agree with you more on the president or Audioslave. Neither worked(s) for me. Would love nothing more than to hear a new RATM album, An album of covers was no way to cap that career anyway.

The best comparison i have heard of RATM and Audiogay is this. RATM is one sack of iron balls, while audioslave is a empty nutsack flailing in the wind. There still is no guarantee that RATM is back, but signs are sure turning to be the best. I would love to have RATM back because there split just seemed to happen while i was getting my "concert legs". I feed for a rage pit these days, and with the drowning economy and hellful war, and a president dumber than a trained monkey put through the space program, but found out to be to dumb so instead was tested drugs on. We need RATM, i said before that they bring a crowd of freespeakers. and someone happend to question what i said by saying "dont we live in a free country already". Well sure thats true. but whats more true is a favorite quote by George Carlin "I enjoy the freedoms we use to have", have to admit. We are in one giant Nazi camp of a country. I do blame bush, and i dont care if hes done one or two goods. i watched my brother ship to Iraq twice, and i never knew if he was coming back. Bands like RATM kept me sane through times were i needed a positive preach to a negative event.

Get your f***ing facts straight before you go up on your f***ing soapbox in the name of Chris Cornell. If you're gonna try to look like a bad-ass, use someone else as your stepladder. You were acting like an a$$hole because my comment about your f***ing coke-headed, lame-brained, soulless president stealing office put a little kink in your panties. Just because I dislike the President doesn't mean I HATE America. I love America. I just happen to have a fond appreciation for RATM, as well. But I've got an idea: If you're gonna be here, be here. Maybe we can both have an intelligent conversation someday. And you can have all the rational rhetoric and persuasive propaganda you want. But until then, why don't you stop blaming me for the reason why you have to be here. I'm here because I love metal. Not because I love arguing with idiots. Remember that post #7 can't be ignored. You aren't gonna kill me by being on these message boards. Truthfully, I've dealt with tons of people like you. Who, even though the topic has nothing to do with "efleming", try to start sh** with someone who doesn't agree with you. I can converse intelligently, it's just that not many people on this message board want, or deserve to. And the quicker you can deal with the fact that I was defending myself, the quicker we can move on and get to this rational rhetoric you speak of. Trust me, I speak from experience and I live and breath metal. Intelligent conversation can be had. Think about that before you try being a d*** in MY name again.

Yes, Audioslave sucked. A few good songs does not a good band make. RAtM was great, but stagnated after Evil Empire - after all, capitalism is what made them famous, and the irony of that made them something of a joke to me. Great material to cover in a bar, but not necessarily living up to their ideals, in many ways. They definitely have a lot of "material" with which to write a new album... or three.
Whether Bush stole two elections is debatable - obviously. The lack of flexibility and intentional blindness to failure doomed the Iraq debacle from the start, and the fact that the American people were lied to in the beginning only enforces the concept of an administration convinced of its infallibility. Whether Bush knows it or not, he'll go down in history as one of the most stubborn and divisive Presidents in history. American troops, in all the branches of the Armed Forces, were not conscripted. Neither were they aware that their lives would be put to risk for an intangible goal, ill-conceived and poorly managed right down to the individual command level. I joined the Navy in 1999, and have been a vocal opponent of the war since the moment Bush started looking publicly at Iraq, and searching for reasons to invade. I do as ordered, and will gladly sacrifice my life if that's what's required, but don't be confused - I'm willing to risk my life because of the oath I took, not because I agree with my boss. I swore to obey the orders of those appointed over me, and I will, but I don't have to like it. The fact of the matter is, most of the military is busy scratching their heads and doing what they're told to worry about the global consequences of their individual actions. Suggesting that we "shouldn't have signed up" if we weren't prepared to die is like suggesting that a civilian shouldn't drive if he's not aware of the risk of being killed by a drunk driver, and then patting the drunk drivers on the back. Rest assured, though, as much as we're protecting "the liberal's" right to say what they want, we're also protecting the conservative idea of "the ends justify the means."
I often pose this question, and would like you all to consider it. You have been given 2 million dollars, in one dollar bills. How many of those one dollar bills would you burn, just for the sake of proving you can? Would you burn three thousand of them? President Bush is burning our troops as though they were dollar bills, and to hell with the lives behind the lines. By the way, I love my country - I wouldn't have joined if I didn't. I also love Carolina Panthers, and they're not doing so hot either. At least I can have a voice, make a change, in my country. Don't tell me to move, tell me to make a change.

I know what you mean, Crawford. Before I joined, I was as anti-governmental as they come. Music was (and still is) the center of my life, though I've expanded my range quite a bit in the last 10 years or so. I got past having to be the "metalhead" and started really listening to a broad variety of music, and finding the qualities in each. This has resulted in more than 130Gb of legally ripped music on my hard drive, with a big chunk reserved for my favorite music, metal.
It dawned on me at some point that, to make the changes I felt were necessary, I had to become part of the "Evil Empire." So the Navy is where I began - after almost 8 years, I feel like I have a much better understanding of what I am (an am not) capable of, politically and socially. I admire RAtM because they brought free thought and opposing views to the forefront of popular culture. Much like Marilyn Manson, whose music I really can't stand (post-Antichrist Manson, anyway), I like artists encouraging people to think for themselves, to come to their own conclusions, and to hold themselves accountable on a larger societal scale. Which, ironically, is exactly what the conservatives want to ban from music.
Personally, I liked Soundgarden somewhat, but at the time for me, Alice in Chains was THE band, and Soundgarden just a sort of B-side. Chris Cornell's voice doesn't work for me - I don't know why, it just doesn't strike a chord in my soul, if you will. Adding RAtM's rhythm section didn't change that, and after the first album, I didn't get much of a rhythm from that section. As far as it goes, I was a more of a Kim Thayil fan than a Chris Cornell fan, and that's why I bought their records. Audioslave just wasn't the gestalt they were hyped to be, but they were better than Velvet Revolver, so I suppose I should give credit where credit is due. I'll be interested to see what becomes of the "reunion."
My 2 cents.

You know, that's the first time I've ever seen the words "Kim", "Thayil", and "fan" put together. Well put. What I liked about Soundgarden wasn't who was singing, it was how well his voice complimented the music. Not what he sang, but the range he had. Audioslave was pretty hyped, but I guess we were too used to hearing his voice in a different setting. RATM was pretty far away from grunge, but it was an interesting ride. The three or four songs I like by Audioslave, I REALLY like, but I can't stand the rest of it. I think all three Audioslave albums sound exactly the same, like they were tryin' to be the next AC/DC. I grew tired of it pretty quick. I'm actually pretty anxious to hear what BOTH sides (Cornell / RATM) are going to do next.

I just found out this forum.. Weird thing is that it seemed interesting untill the part it all comes up where you guys started a never ending, pointless discussion about GWB. First of all I'd love to make something clear to you guys: America is the WHOLE damn continent that as far as I (and by the way the rest of the modern world) know is a HUGE land mass that runs from Canada to Chile and Argentina (also known as Tierra del Fuego, chilean territory basically); so I don't know why it is that you aim to call yourself Americans....violence and power abuse are, seeing through any point of view or any circumstances, deplorable. USA as a country has a long, long history of doing so... sorry for hurting any susceptibility when telling the truth.... Just let me remind you that physical violence ain't the only one.
Even when I like Audioslave, I really like the idea of having RATM back, de la Rocha is just the coolest frontman, but a fact is that Cornell sounds a lot much better than Zach's cords alone.
Long live to RATM!!!
And by the way, the only reason why RATM are so good is because, gentleman, if you haven't notice yet, politics, religion, sex and violence are very-well-paid- related topics; so please can you all be so kind and stop thinking that they don't do it for money....

But then again, what would I expect from someone in High School.....LiquidMetal77. I have seen this happen on this site so many times before. It's just a bunch of retards who pile on one guy because it's easy. It's lame and I honestly don't see what it has to do with "Metal". It's easy to argue about politics, political opinions are like a$$holes. Now we have people getting into "The history of American cruelty"? Are you guys serious? How sad is this.

Joeygirl, the United States of America, as a country, has literally hundreds (if not thousands) of years less history than virtually any other country in the world - few countries are younger than ours. Most countries, most governments, evolve out of their people, clans and kingdoms and tribes, but the US has the unique privilege of being created almost entirely by immigrants. I have Cherokee blood, but also Norwegian. I am in the minority in the US by having ties to the indigenous people of the nation. Thus, our "long, long history" of violence is really but a brief moment in the context of the history of Man. Celts, Gauls, Normans, the Greek, Roman, and Ottoman empires, these are civilizations from which countries evolved. Countries with a amazing histories, although one filled with blood, shed in the name of a God (or Gods/Goddesses), justifying a quest for power. And, of course, consider the two-millennia long bloodbath that is the Middle East - the United States' history of violence pales in comparison.
The continent, as you so astutely noted, includes both Canada and Mexico, but for the purpose of simplification, we citizens of the USA tend to call ourselves "American" as an abbreviation of "United States of America." If the government of Canada were to change their country's name to "The Canadian States of America," then they would have just as much right to call themselves American as we do. But then, what of our southern continent? The continent of South America may lay claim to some of the bloodiest historical governments ever - research the Mayan and Aztec civilizations, look at the atrocities created by the Colombian drug lords - while not justifying the failings of my own government, I know that there is far worse in the world than Mr. Bush - he just happens to have the most power behind him. Imagine, if you will, Kim Jong-il with an industrial and financial base behind him that Mr. Bush claims. I didn't vote for him - twice - I voted for Mr. Gore and then for Mr. Kerry, but one vote doesn't make the difference when it comes down to the Presidential election. So many people who can't stand Mr. Bush can't stand the idea of getting off their couches to vote him out, either, so he remains the President of the United States.
To answer the points made against talking politics in a music-oriented forum, I would say that it's important to discuss things like this here. A lot of the people here won't go to political forums, they don't care what's going on, because they're sure they can't do anything about it - and that attitude is what prevents changes from happening. It's what allows people like Mr. Bush to ruin the middle-class economy, foreign relations, and our image in general, it's how Congress raises their pay every year and neglects minimum wage for ten. The people don't speak because they don't think they'll be listened to, because they don't think they can make a change - and, as individuals, it's very hard, but as a group, we could have Kerry King as the next President.
But then, I'm just a Kim Thayil fan. ;) What do I know? If I was impressed by range, I'd listen to Maria Carey. *cough cough* Typing that made me gag, I guess I'll lay off the jokes.

Neurotictim, you make me feel confused.... um..... I mean, I used to believe that your country was created in the late 1700's (it might be 1787??? with Washinghton as president?), so let me just organize my calendar...most of African countries get their independence in the 1960's (ok, so we got more than 200 years in between), the rest of the American continent (which I insist is only ONE, so there should be no South America continent as you mentioned before) started to get independent in 1809 with Ecuador (thanks to Bolivar), which means it was later than USA. New Zeland's independence reached them in 1907;and Australia got it around that time as well. So, seen through this parameters I really don't got the idea that USA is such a new-born country (may I suggest naive?), and that there are few countries younger than yours..It is obviously younger than China or India or Irak... but well..
I definetively agree with you, due the fact that countries evolve with the people that conform them, but don't you think that having the UNIQUE PRIVILEGE of being created by mainly inmigrants... come on!! First of all let us define unique, then when we realize the meaning of the word we use it... Was not Australia created mainly by inmigrants? or Latin America? Canada? New Zeland? (we got up to 30 now.... that's not quite unique). And the nonsense thing about it is that as far as you just said, your country was formed mainly by inmigrants.. so why do you are so closed-minded with differences?? you fear so much as a country... why???? Why you should fear so much, what have you done to others to be in such a freight?
I as well agree with you, that your history of violence is nothing compare for example with the Asirians or the Aztecs (by the way Mayans and Aztecs are NOT from South America, they were located basically at Mexico and Guatemala, you might be confusing them with the Incas?), but the only reason why not, is because you are a not a millenary empire. So you are telling ,not only me but anybody that shall read this , that:"Countries with a amazing histories, although one filled with blood, shed in the name of a God (or Gods/Goddesses), justifying a quest for power. And, of course, consider the two-millennia long bloodbath that is the Middle East - the United States' history of violence pales in comparison." Now, can I ask which are the justifications that the USA put on every single war, every single conflict that it gets involve? Cause as far as I heard from Mr. Bush, the USA is almost guided by the hand of God almighty in the sacred quest against terroricism (or oil, what ever falls first), and evil (Hussein used to be his daddy's pal by the way back in the 90's), on the other hand, do you know, like for example how many people can a simply rock thrown one single time kill? Well, I actually don't got the precise number, but it might be slightly less than those an atomic bomb can... (just ask the people of Hiroshima if they are still suffering the consecuences of the victorious display of power your country once did). Now, refering to drugs which I honestly despite for the social damage they may cause; don't you know your country was the number -guess- 1 buyer of the colombian drug lords you mentioned before.... so it is capitalism baby!!!! Nobody will sell if nobody will buy.
But you are wiser than I am, to see before I did, that talking a bit of politics in this kind of forums can help everybody; any way we can all share our points of view as free people we are.
82. writes:
I read it, and I'm happy to see that someone has a taste for history, though completely missing my point.
There are many younger governments than America, I should have phrased that to mean "succession of governments." Often I find that complete thoughts to me aren't complete thoughts to others - I apologize, I should have spelled it out a little more. France's governmental body is actually younger than America's, but don't dare tell a Frenchman that his country has less history than America. Africa and Central America (not to be confused with South America, which is a totally different continent, whether we like it or not) have prevailing civilizations centuries older than the prevailing civilization in the USA, they've simply been controlled by different people. (Of course, we musn't forget that the invading Spaniards killed, intentionally or unintentionally, most of the Central and South Americans) The fact remains that, as a society, the US is still a new kid on the block, so to speak.
Despite your research, the US is still recognized as the "melting pot" of the world, and no country can claim it's constituency to be as varied as ours - perhaps "unique" was the wrong word to describe "special." I hadn't really thought about picking out exactly the right word so that all would know precisely what I intended to say - perhaps I underestimated the ability to take meaning from context, something I will make all efforts to remedy. Australia was populated as a prison island during the British Empire, and Canada's immigrants, for many years, were primarily French, as opposed to the US's diverse immigration. Including forced immigration from Africa, and other parts of the world, to which I also do not have a justification. More importantly, unlike Latin America or South America, the people of the United States can, by and large, can count generations on one hand that tie them back to Europe, Africa, or Asia.
I'll assume by the context that "freight" means "fright" and that you think that all citizens of the United States think the way our President does - which is a very close-minded way of thinking. If you had actually bothered to read my posts and take from them the meaning, rather than nit-pick the specifics, you'll see that not only do I not support Mr. Bush, I am actively against him. I will point out that the US, until 2003, hadn't actively begun any wars since the Revolutionary War - we were always asked for help. So yes - I am telling you, and everyone else who reads this, that the US is not the monster the rest of the world would like to make us. Perhaps Mr. Bush is, but Mr. Bush does not speak for the whole country, as proven in our November elections, and rapid improvements in our foreign relations will begin early in 2009 - because the people of the United States elected a man who no longer speaks for them, but don't have enough power to oust him now. There are now in Congress more level-headed people, who will make more responsible decisions, and hopefully bring us back to the world table. The United States definitely is not on a "favorites" list, but again I point out that we haven't killed millions of Jews for the sake of their heritage, or frozen and starved our people in a misguided interpretation of communism. We haven't subjugated the internet to prevent our countrymen from learning the truth about the world, and we haven't had civil war tearing us apart because one leader thinks the other is from an "impure" race. We haven't invaded another country to spread the word of communism, and forcefully enacted it, and we haven't invaded another country for it's rich oil reserves... Well, that last may be hard to take, but I honestly don't think Bush is after Iraq's oil.
83. writes:
I don't claim to be able to justify "every single war, every single conflict" - but I wasn't alive at the time of many of them, and I d**n sure wasn't around to make the decisions. Every one of us have hard choices to make in life. I'm sure President Truman lost many hours of sleep, I'm sure he didn't just walk into office one day and say, "Let's drop a nuke on these bas****s, guys." A victorious display of power, or an honest belief in the best way to end "the war to end all wars?" You can choose to send your family to war and maybe die, or you can kill a large part of someone else's family so no one else has to die. You make the choice.
The Colombian drug lords sell to their #1 buyer - the US. I suppose we'll have to agree to disagree, because I think that this would be a "chicken/egg" fight, and I don't want to get into that. Let's just say that I think buyers will show up regardless of who sells, but if we make it too hard, too risky to sell, the buyers would have to find something else to occuy their drug-addled minds.
And besides, Chris Cornell's vocals didn't even make an appearance before the first Gulf War, so this conversation is getting way off topic. ;) Ironically, I was watching the "Rock Block" on MTV2 yesterday whilst cleaning house, and saw the "Outshine" video. Makes me feel old to remember when that was the "in" style.

I hate sold out idiots. Cornell has come much too far from his metal roots in Soundgarden and now obviously just wants to hug The Money Demon that kills nearly every good band.
Yes, I know some of you will tell me "Audioslave is great!" I don't care. We're all entitled to our opinions-and mine is that music without any passion is not music at all.

So I guess the answer is YES, you did say that you tool. Then you go on to say:
“your just another one of those stupdly intelligent geeks, I can tell by your posts. and what kind of f*ucker doesnt even know what "owned" means???”
“Stupidly”??? WTF? Seriously? Are you kidding me? Listen closely because I'm only going to say this once. Your comments on this site are a reflection of the inner working of you sad weak little mind. You are a posturing homophobe who likes to pile onto other peoples arguments. You need to sit back and realize exactly what the argument is about before you go sticking your nose into it. There is still hope for you because you are young but in all honesty you are well on your way to becoming a simple minded, easily controllable member of the masses. Now, before you come back at me with some lame “You are a douche bag” comment, think about it. Maybe you should learn more about your opponent, because if you refuse to put up any type of structured argument you are doomed to be remembered as a fool. This should be interesting.

D*mn you're such dumbass, your own name "your mom" is high school too you f*cking hypocrite.
and i used "stupidly" to emphasize his retarded thinking and how he acts smart and thinks hes better, but is really not. how else do you want me to say it?? dumbly intelligent?? gayly intelligent??

It’s worthless pursuing an argument with you Liquid because you make no valid points to argue with. It’s a sad realization that you have not and probably never will understand how to put up a valid verbal argument. It’s all “you’re a douche” or “you got owned” with you. But if you must continue with it, by all means be my guest. I love the hate, I bask in it. I eat insults like candy so fire away. It just builds the stereotype of the “typical simple minded American youth”. Sad but true.
Now as far as the Communist comment goes, I have one question. Could 1.4 Billion Chinese be wrong?

96. writes:
goddamn youre a dipsh*t, i only cuss you out like that AFTER ive made a point, and i love the hate too. why else do you think i continue?? Your mind must be too aged to comprehend anything I just said. Or maybe you need glasses. If you look at the words other than the cussing, there are actually points I made. Stop denying it and throwing back a lame comeback. There's at least 5 points up there and if you deny it again, ill just think of you as basically “giving up” again. And 1.4 billion Chinese arent communist, the government is.

101. writes:
This is sad because I NEVER make super long posts but in this case I find the need to do so.
First “point”:
You posted: “and i used "stupidly" to emphasize his retarded thinking and how he acts smart and thinks hes better, but is really not. How else do you want me to say it?? dumbly intelligent?? gayly intelligent??”
After re-reading the original post from “efleming” I can truly say in his sarcasm I find nothing to indicate a position of “him thinking he is better” then anyone. I found it to be an opinionated response to the post from “Texas”. “efleming” was simply having a reaction that has been precipitated by the current state of affairs in the United States and I not only find it justified but very common among people who still “care” about issues as they pertain to this country. But you asked how else do “I” want you to say it. “Dumbly intelligent?” or “gayly intelligent”? I would have said that it was his opinion and he is entitled to it. It also happens to be the opinion of a good portion of the US considering that about 50% of the population voted for GW, twice. I would also point out your consistent use of unnecessary slurs. Does his opinion make him gay? But if I have to classify it I would say that it is a failed attempt at a slur. In my opinion you are a posturing homophobe which I clearly stated in my earlier post.
The next “point” you make is this:
“and i wouldnt say i have a sad weak little mind, cuz from what i remember, that was you the last time and its ironic how your second to last sentence reminds me esactly of how you always were, and now your telling ME to put up a structured argument.”
Looking past all the spelling and grammar errors I took a look back at the last time we “argued” The last time we argued about something the thread was closed by the administrator because the allotted time frame had passed. The original argument wasn’t yours and once again, as in this thread, you decided to join in on someone else’s argument. I had made my points and you kept on “barking” at me with no needed response because the debated points were done. You continued with your “dum****” and “dips***” comments so I felt no need to respond. I assume you took that as you “owning” me, which is still a confusing and infantile ideal that you hopefully will find has no place in the world after high school.
Next you say:
“FYI alot of ppl here are in high school or around that age, so go f*ck your mom, and i mean yours, not mine.”
First of all something that is a pet peeve of mine. It's "a lot" not "alot" Now, this one is easy. How do you know the age of the people who post on this site? Do you know the administrators? Do you have the statistics to back that statement up? My guess is no. I would also say that from my many postings on this site I have found that the “average” poster on this site is NOT in high school. The “High School” posts are easily spotted by the name calling, lack of structured points, and numerous spelling and grammatical errors.
The communist point that was brought up by “Diamond Oz” is one that deserves discussion, but in all honesty not in this forum. I would say this, any form of government can be criticized for its shortcomings. Communism and Capitalism are chock full of problems so just because we happen to be supporters of one or the other doesn’t make it “right” or “wrong”. I suppose my original question was structured wrong. I guess the better question would be this, “If you legally live in the US are you a Capitalist because of you participate in the day to day activities of commerce?” and if the answer to that is yes, which it is, it begs the next question, “If you are a legal resident of China, are you a Communist because you are participating in the pursuit of bettering YOUR country as a whole?” (Which is the basis of Communism, for all those taking notes at home.) The sad truth is that a good majority of American who were brought up during the cold war are very ignorant to the actual Communist way of life. It’s ignorance that can’t be changed in most cases.
So that’s 4 “points” (if you can call them that). They have all been refuted and now I stand waiting for your response. I have a feeling that this will never be read by anyone but Liquid but I have no choice to defend his ridiculous claims. In a way I feel foolish arguing with a high school student on a Metal website but this really needed to be done. This post has no profanity or name calling and I feel that it directly supports my position. I’m sure your next post will be full of wonderfully hateful slurs and I can’t wait to read it.

I've had their bullsh** proved to me by so called "freedom fighters of the revolution" so many times that it got beyond a joke and I told them to shove their revolution up their arse. LM77 knows most of the ages of people who regularly post on this site because he gives respect and courtesy where it's due, doesn't pick out spelling mistakes to try and support his arguements and gets on well with most of us round here.

Diamond you are a real blow hard. I knew tons of guys like you and in all honesty, they never impressed me. They all ended up dead or in jail. You have to resort to “I'm going to kick your ass” tactics to get a point across. Maybe intelligent conversation just isn’t your “thing”. Good, I love the hate, keep it coming. You say you were not on the bandwagon but let’s really look at it. You said you were a Neo-Nazi, then you were a Communist, then what? What came next and what will be next. You are a follower, simple minded. You have no original thought so you join others until you realize “Oh man, this is not cool” THAT my friend is called being on the bandwagon, look it up.
As for “godlike”, do you have a point here? Any reason you are in this conversation? All of a sudden you decided to join in? Well, more power to you. I have no problem with all the insults. They mean nothing and they show your ignorance. Diamond Oz is a big boy and I'm sure he can stick up for himself. and your the one being ignorant about communism. they take away rights and force the individuality out of you. they say they arrest ppl who practice a certain tradition or religion because they want everyone to be equal. but you know what they actually do sometimes?? they say theyll arrest them but they kill them and sell their organs on the black market. theyll keep certain news ane facts out of sight so ppl dumb enough like you will believe communism is good. its supposed to be a utopia, but it just doesnt work.
one more thing, your mom, you said "It's easy to argue about politics, political opinions are like a$$holes. Now we have people getting into "The history of American cruelty"? Are you guys serious? How sad is this."
now look at your post 101. youre giving your own opinion about communism and capitalism?? whatever man your old age has got to you.

The only bandwagon I was on was my own my friend. As I said I am now a fascist and this is because I rejoined neo Nazism after Communism after meeting other "communists" and despising because they sounded exactly the way you're talking! I became a fascist after my 2nd run as a Nazi because of some pictures and documents I found on the holocaust (aswell as a few other things). Now as a fascist, I can maintain my views of a dictatorship but not advocate one that denies the slaughter of six million people. Crisis of conscience made me stop being a Nazi. Not no f***ing bandwagon that everyone was on. I am not trying to impress some little nancy boy like you so don't bloody flatter yourself you poof. Where I'm from there is NO Nazi or Fascist gangs or groups or anything, so there's no "others" to go join! Well, I can see that this argument is finished as we have resorted to the childish behavior in the last few posts. I'll finish my end with this final post then you can all bash and flame me all you want. The ONLY reason I posted #101, Liquid77, was because YOU asked me to debate the "points" you made. In your last post you had a lot of "They did..." and "They do..." Who is they? The Communists? "They" is a very broad word. I would say that in future arguments, be a little more specific.
As far as Diamond Oz goes, I think you have some real issues. IN MY OPINION.....you should think a little more before you act. I can tell that you are quick to fight. (Post 108). And just for the record I'm not a Communist, I simply believe that just because you are not a Communist doesn't mean its wrong to be a Communist. And as far as me using free speech to be clever is just asinine. Free speech is just that, FREE, freedom to speak my opinion. Now if that opinion is clever or used to debate Communism it's still a liberty that I am afforded as an American.
In closing the only reason I used "mate" at the end of that post is because you use it in every bloody post mate. Doesn't it get old?

Say some more about my opinions and I'll say some more about you. To what end? Follow it to its logical conclusion. Your little “fun” post makes you look foolish. It’s like a kid on the playground. Silly little insults show that you don’t take it seriously but then you come back every time with some point and some insults.
The spelling is important because it shows a lot about education and pride. If you don't care about the proper way to spell and how to construct a sentence then how can I take your point seriously? Ever think about that? It's called a spell check, its simple!
I don’t need to “walk away” but it seems like you are just going to keep on throwing rock as I’m leaving. You are “that guy”. Always need the last word. So lets keep it going. We will continue this until they shut it down. That’s a real important way to use my time.

I won't continue but you get the idea. And you going "I don't need to walk away but let's keep going" proves my point. You're just here for the attention and to piss people off.
"I'll finish my end with this final post then you can all bash and flame me all you want."
You just said quite clearly there that you didn't care, now ya back for more arguing! What's your game? Just piss off and make things easier for everyone.

you are rediculous your mom, all im saying is your own opinions of politics contradicts your previous post, i was answering your "1.4 billion chines ppl part".... and get a grip, everything has to be perfect doesnt it?? spelling is honestly not that important ppl make mistakes unless you type at a rate of 10 words per minute, we have a life outside of this site, we dont spend endless hours perfecting a post. you still can understand the text unless youre special. stop acting like a f*cking english teacher, and of course im talking about communists!!! and its funny how your own post talking about spelling correctly has spelling errors itself. and yet again you just allow the part about "your mom" to slip by.
you didnt even keep your word that post 120 will be your last and then we can bash you. keep coming back, ive always looked forward to these online fights. and you also seem to be a guy who always needs the last word...

He doesn't like you and he thinks that you need a c*** in your mouth. That looks like a point to me. and you can't say it's a childish point, it's more a psychological evalutation after reading all your posts...and no i don't love him but he sure as hell is my friend and I understand what he meant. Seems that you don't have a lot of fans here buddy. You're like Terrel owens, all talk, full of sh**, egotistical, stupid and mostly yeah you can catch some balls but in your case, they are your dad's balls...and it's not : I got it I got it when you catch it it's : I I got hem I got hem (insert sound of a guy with is mouth full).

Chris Cornell has an ego ? Er...how about 2...,or 3. You know it always makes me laugh when I see people with big egos. they still need to eat, drink , sleep, sh** (and they look as ridiculous on the sh**ter than us by the way) and ultimately, they will croak too...so they just stay down to earth because honestly, the only person better than all of us is the one that will find a way to not die...and I am not really waiting for such a person to show up...so he can kiss my French Canadian ass.
And go chekc out this website, today is the Red Bull Crashed ice in my city..it's crazy man. Check this website and tell me what you think. Go to video and check out Quebec 2006...the course this year is even bigger and scarier...we are completely crazy. http://www.redbullcrashedice.ca/

Well, for a little background...the singer/guitarist for Blackfoot is a native american dude named Rick Medlocke...he actually got his start with Skynyrd in the first line-up, before they became famous..!!
When he left Skynyrd he formed the band Blackfoot('74-'75) with three other native americans from the Florida area....these guys kicked major a$$..!! they put out a bunch of albums into the late '80s, the most famous was "Strikes"... a couple tunes off that album were quite popular at the time ( '78-'79 ) one called "The Highway Song".. and another "Train Train"
and as of now, Rick Medlocke is back with Skynyrd..!!

And I really don't hink Chris Cornell will find an older vibe. He's done in my book. He will probably try to be an american idol next season...GAY !

I used to get SO sore...and I would end up barely able to walk on Mondays....much less the empty feeling I felt afterwards....and I do mean empty....!!
I too, liked some of the Audioslave tunes and I liked some of the Soundgarden tunes...but as for a human being....Chris Cornell kind of rubs me the wrong way....

pg93, I really wonder who is the loser here, the dude who posts with his friends or the dude that barges in trying to piss off people. You were asking if we have a life. the answer is yes we do, but it seems that you don't because the only thing you can do is attack friends talking about music and other things. Which brings us to the only possible conclusion. You are the loser because : 1- The only thing you can bring to this post is...er...nothing at all. 2- You don't have a life because as said earlier the only activity that you have is disrupting friends talking nad 3- probably the most important thing here : you don't have any friends at all, which is quite obvious, and that brings you frustration so to try to ease that frustration you go in posts and try to make the others look like loosers (which they are not) because you don't want to be the only one without friends.
Anyways you are more than welcome to post here as a friend if you would like. otherwise, leave us alone. We did not ask for you to come here and try to wreak havoc. So I ask you to respect that and if you don't want to, so be it, I will just be glad to ignore you, and it is probably what everybody does in your normal life, and that explains why you are here looking for attention...

what dog are you guys talking about?? and who is this pg93 asking if we have a life...but then he says he is just messing with us then goes on to tell red_chord to admit that he is a loser. is that a serious statement or what?? either way you dont just go up to ppl you dont know and say sh*t like that.

Kinda funny how people break off in tangents from the ORIGINAL topic. Yeeshh. Audioslave was decent, RATM & Soundgarden kicked a**. All other bands mentioned on this tangenting post may or may not be awesome; it's a matter of personal tastes & I don't care. Furthermore, on the topic of opinions, this isn't a f***ing political discussion board. While I may agree that Bush is a major prick, that's just my opinion (though there's a fair amount of evidence to support my opinion). And some people's opinions to the contrary are just that: OPINIONS. To summarize, don't get your panties in a twist and keep that sh*t off here (to both sides - of any arguments).

Joseph McCarthy.
McCarthy became the most visible public face of a period of extreme anti-communist suspicion inspired by the tensions of the cold war. He was noted for making unsubstantiated claims that there were large numbers of Communists and Soviet spies and sympathizers inside the federal government. Ultimately, his tactics led to his being discredited and censured by the United States Senate. The term "McCarthyism," coined in 1950 in reference to McCarthy, became applied more generally to the anti-communism of the late 1940s through the late 1950s, and today is used to describe demagogic, reckless and unsubstantiated accusations, as well as public attacks made on persons' character and/or patriotism.
