Wolfmother Are First Australian Band To Win Grammy In 25 Years

Sydney's WOLFMOTHER are the first Aussie band in 25 years to win a Grammy Award. Wolfmother's 'Woman' beat out songs by Tool, System of a Down, Nine Inch Nails and Buckcherry to take home the 'Best Hard Rock Performance' category.

In a statement, the band says "A Grammy was the last thing on our minds today. We really thought that was reserved for the permanent residents of the U.S.A. We're honoured and we're overwhelmed. It's enormous!"

The last Australian band to win a Grammy Award was Men At Work 25 years ago.

I say congrats to Wolfmother, personally I dont give a toss what genre they are catergorised in, theyre bloody good, the entire ablum is great.. But do agree they arent what id call Metal, but metal has changed so much over the years.. Well more what seems to define metal? Some of what was once called Heavy Metal 25-30 yrs ago could be looked at now as rock, and some simply soft rock.. But that was as i said many years ago and the era has to be taken into consideration I guess...

They remind me of Led Zeppelin.. 25 years ago LZ was catergorised as Heavy Metal, maybe the same dude is still doin that job?..lol

Bottomline is, they didnt catergorise themselves, the Americans did !!!

Well congrats to them anyway.....
