Black Sabbath's Tony Iommi Premieres New Single & Music Video "World Alone" From Upcoming New Solo Album "From The Dark"

Heavy metal pioneer Tony Iommi has announced his first solo album since 2005. Titled “From The Dark”, the new record is set for an October 23rd release through BMG. The Black Sabbath icon has introduced the album with its first single, “World Alone”, which features vocals from Jørn Lande (Masterplan, Jorn, etc.). The accompanying music video was directed by Ryan Mackfall.

A press release said of the track:

“‘World Alone‘ is a thunderous rock song that speeds along on a barrage of flying guitar riffs and solos, backed by a driving rhythm section and topped off with the powerful rock operatics of acclaimed Norwegian vocalist Jorn Lande. The video is based around a retrofuture, dystopian universe where the lead protagonist, The Believer, is pitched into a twisted video game to save his life and ultimately find salvation.”

Lande appears throughout the album, with Iommi also recruiting bassist Becky Baldwin (Mercyful Fate, etc.) and drummer Karl Brazil (Robbie Williams, Feeder, etc.) for the sessions. Iommi co-produced the record alongside Mike Exeter.

Speaking briefly about “From The Dark”, Iommi commented:

“It’s an album we’ve really enjoyed making. We’re not trying to prove anything – it’s a great album, it rocks!”

The album also features a guest appearance from Queen guitarist Brian May, who contributes a solo to “Death Wake”. May and Iommi have remained close friends for decades.

A 7-inch single for “World Alone” will arrive ahead of the album on September 4th. A deluxe CD edition featuring a 32-page booklet and the two bonus tracks will be available exclusively through Amazon.
