The Contortionist Recruits New Vocalist
The Contortionist has announced Mike Lessard of Last Chance To Reason as the band's new permanent vocalist, replacing Jonathan Carpenter who exited earlier this year.
"We're very excited about this announcement. The run of dates we did with him as a fill-in were a much needed breath of fresh air. He brings to the table all kinds of new dynamics that will help fuel the progression of the band's sound onto the next record and onward," says Guitarist Robby Bacca.
"I've been a friend and a fan of the band for a long time, so these are exciting times. I can't wait to hit the road and the studio with these talented gentlemen. I believe this to be the start of a beautiful experience," says Lessard himself.
The band just announced new tour dates supporting Between the Buried and Me this fall. Dates stretch coast to coast kicking off in Winston Salem, NC on September 13th and will wrap up more than a month later in Nashville, TN. Pre-sale has begun here and general ticket sales start July 12th. More...
The Contortionist Splits With Vocalist
The Contortionist has announced the departure of frontman Jonathan Carpenter today, along with his interim replacement in one fell swoop. Jonathan and his long-time girlfriend will be expecting their first child and Carpenter has made the decision to focus on his personal life.
Mike Lessard of Last Chance to Reason will be taking on vocal duties while the band finds a permanent replacement. Statements from each of the parties can be found below.
Jonathan Carpenter comments: "It's going to be a jarring change of pace for my life, not being on the road most of the year. Making songs with the band and then performing them in front of the best fans has been a once in a lifetime experience. I wouldn't trade the perspective I've found in the past few years for anything. I got to meet so many amazing people and see a good chunk of the world. I absolutely intend to keep creating and playing music in the future, albeit in a more personal pursuit.
"I will miss seeing everyone in the TC family very much. I wish the best to all of my band buds and everyone who supports live music and all this heavy banger music we've been making. I feel very excited for my future with the love of my life and our pups, and our little one on the way. More...
Last Chance To Reason Recording New Album
After two years of aggressive touring, Maine's Last Chance To Reason will begin recording sophomore Prosthetic release (and third album overall) later this week at Audiohammer Studios in Sanford, FL with Eyal Levi. This album sees the addition of Boston-based guitarist Mike Abdow, who joined the band last fall. An early 2013 release is expected.
Drummer Evan Sammons says, "We've been working on the new album diligently and now we're headed to Audiohammer to begin tracking with Eyal. We've been sending material to Eyal and talking about production techniques and ideas for the album's tone and things are really clicking. Touring with great bands over the past couple years has really inspired us to up the ante for this release. We've grown as songwriters and are embracing our strengths as musicians. We're doing a concept piece again and we'll be making sure the music and production suits the story."
Vocalist Michael Lessard added, "Having Eyal involved has been nothing short of excellent. He understands where we are going with the concept of this album and has only helped strengthen that vision."
This will be the follow-up to Last Chance to Reason's Prosthetic debut, "Level 2."
