Below is our complete Times Of Grace news coverage, including columns and articles pertaining to the band. Some articles listed may be indirectly related, such as side projects of the band members, etc.
After losing his singer – again – Killswitch Engage guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz says he considered ending the band he’s been a part of since the turn of the century.
“That thought definitely did cross my mind,” Dutkiewicz told Metalundergound.com recently. “Picking up the pieces after losing two singers is kind of ridiculous. But things worked out and we feel like a stronger unit.”
Adam D and his longtime bandmates – Mike D’Antonio, Justin Foley and Joel Stroetzel – first dealt with losing original singer Jesse Leach back in 2003, just as the band was taking off with its sophomore release, Alive or Just Breathing. Leach was battling depression and was replaced by Blood Has Been Shed’s Howard Jones, who went on to front the Massachusetts-based band as they earned a Grammy nomination and two gold albums and headlined sold-out arenas and festivals.
When Jones left last year to deal with his own personal demons, Dutkiewicz and the crew didn’t have to think too hard before deciding to bring Leach back into the fold. Dutkiewicz and Leach had toured together with their side project Times of Grace and have remained friends, despite the messy breakup a decade ago.
“Jesse did have an edge because he used to be the actual singer of the band. And he’s a great friend of mine,” Dutkiewicz said.
Dutkiewicz says he keeps in touch with Jones, who is considering writing a book about his experiences in Killswitch.
“Howard and I still chat and honestly he’s just doing his thing,” Dutkiewicz says. “We all wish him his best. He’s doing alright. He’s just chilling.”
For Leach, singing songs written by Jones took some time getting used to, but he says the emotion behind the words is what’s allowed him to make the songs his own.
“Initially it was kind of a strange thing for me . . . I’ve never sang someone else’s songs, my whole career,” Leach says. “I just sat with the songs and just listened to them. For me, it was really just taking them in and digesting them, and seeing how I could connect with the lyrics. I just fell in love with the songs. I think they’re great songs. It’s just honest. It’s just him pouring out his heart.”
One of his favorites to sing is “Arms of Sorrow” from 2006’s As Daylight Dies.
“That song moves me,” Leach said. “It’s such an honest song from Howard. It speaks volumes about being on the road and trouble with relationships. There’s something to that song that gets me.”
“Plus, the song crafting is Adam. It’s flawlessly written hooks,” he continues. “It’s just getting into the mind state of feeling every word I’m saying. I can’t stand on stage and pretend.”
Leach will make his return official Sunday at the New England Metal and Hardcore Festival in Worcester, Mass.
Although it wasn't expected until December, the organizers of Australia's Soundwave Festival have made their second band announcement. Joining the 60 bands already announced are Staind, Wednesday 13, Unearth, Cathedral, Shadows Fall, Heaven Shall Burn, Your Demise, Kittie, and 14 other (mostly non-metal) bands.
Hole has pulled out of the festival after frontwoman Courtney Love refused to play before Limp Bizkit. Soundwave boss AJ Maddah said on Twitter that he was "relieved we got the moody old cow off the bill. [There’s] no point talking her back, only for her to cancel later, or turn up & act like a rotten twat to other artists, fans, etc."
A third announcement in early December will add another five bands to the lineup, and Danzig is one of the confirmed possibilities. More...
Times Of Grace, the band featuring Killswitch Engage guitarist Adam D. and former Killswitch Engage vocalist Jesse Leach, has posted their new music video online for the song, "Live In Love." You can check it out below. The video was filmed on the streets of Massachusetts and was directed by Tim Dennesen. The video was also made to highlight the work of the Rise Above Foundation, which works to provide children in foster care with activities.
Jesse leach commented on the video, saying, "I am excited for this video to come out. I feel like we did a different approach to the typical performance video. I enjoyed the shoot and the day we spent driving around to different locations. I feel strongly about the message of compassion and love. I hope we are able to help change a child's life through weriseabove.org or at the very least inspire others to reach outside themselves and make a difference. I want nothing more than for our music to have a positive impact in this world. One love to all!"
Director Tim Dennesen also weighed in, saying, "'Live In Love' sends a powerful message. Anthony Jarvis, the director of photography, and I wanted to give raw visuals to this message to help spread awareness. It was a mystical quest, and a lot of fun to work with Times Of Grace."
Rise Above was equally thrilled about partnering with the band to spread their message and their mission, saying, "We're honored that Times Of Grace identified Rise Above as the Massachusetts charity to spotlight in this video. Working with a band with strong roots in Massachusetts is a great way to advocate for the youth in foster care that we serve. We are proud to be part of such a powerful effort to bring critical social issues to the surface."
"Be vigilant in truth and love," is not a lyric you’d expect to hear from a metal band, and especially not at a live show. You’d think it would have a way of stopping mosh pits, but that wasn’t the case when Times of Grace and Underoath came to Nashville, bringing along the bands Stray from the Path and Letlive. On the night of August 9th, the "Illuminatour" was to be a high-volume lesson in believing in yourself.
Amidst a record high-temperature summer, fans waited outside the venue well before the doors opened. More...

Shadows Fall guitarist Matt Bachand will be the bassist for Times of Grace's upcoming U.S. tour with Underoath, the band's label, Roadrunner Records, announced.
Bachand, a longtime friend of TOG/Killswitch Engage guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz and vocalist Jesse Leach, takes over for bassist Daniel Struble, who has left the band to tend to "personal matters." Struble also plays in Five Pointe O. The rest of the band will be rounded out by Dutkiewicz' KsE guitar partner Joel Stroetzel and drummer Dan Gluszak.
“Losing Daniel was a blow to the Times of Grace camp, but we knew he had to do what was best for him and his family,” said Leach. “Having Matt show interest in joining the touring lineup could not have been a better fit! I have been a fan of Matt's voice and guitar work for many years. I am honored and very stoked to have him join us on tour to play bass and sing backup vocals. Matt is a great guy, and someone Adam, Joel and I have all known for years. Personality-wise and as a musician, it clicks so well. I am certain Matt will add a great vibe and bring his own style to the live show!”
Bachand said: “I am very excited to be a part of Times of Grace. Not only will it be great to get onstage with some old friends, but I am looking forward to something new musically as this role as bassist will be a very different experience from my role as guitarist of Shadows Fall.”
Dutkiewicz, who formed the band last year with Leach, former vocalist for KsE, said of Bachand joining the tour: “I’ll miss the crap out of Dan, but I’m so stoked to be bro-ing down with our longtime beer-swilling bassist bud Bachand. Come out to the shows and prepare to flex!”
