KISS To Release New Album In September

Gene Simmons, the legendary bass player/vocalist of KISS, recently spoke with Brazilian news site Comércio do Jahu about the bands new studio album and South American tour. He stated:

"Yes, we will launch an album with 12 or 15 unpublished songs. We already recorded vocals and guitars for four of them. We will finish up the album in July and launch it in September. I can say the sound will be like a sort of a new "Rock-n'-roll over", mid-seventies sound, fast and heavy. There will be no rap, no country music. It is difficult to define music, but if you keep in mind that definition, you will understand very well what we are talking about. It's the classic KISS sound."

Gene Simmons Talks About New KISS Album

Iconic KISS bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons has discussed the process of making the new KISS album with Pagina12 in a recent interview. An excerpt from the chat reads as follows:

"We are making a new album produced by PAUL STANLEY, because I do not have the patience to get into a studio and stay there for six months. Who better than Paul for that? The idea is to make the record quickly, like we did at the time of Destroyer, Rock And Roll Over and Love Gun. But we must be prepared, so we are now working on songs when we have time. Maybe in March we will go in a studio and recorded two or three songs. The idea is to work well, little by little, we can not spend too much time in the studio, it has to be fast."

KISS Unhappy With Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame

Gene Simmons, the iconic bassist for rock legends KISS recently spoke about the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and his unhappiness that KISS has, to date, not been included.

"There are disco bands, rap bands, Yiddish folk song bands in the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame, but not KISS," the band's outspoken frontman said during a speech at the Billboard Touring Conference on Thursday. "I believe we have more gold records in America than any other group, but it's OK."

The band is not among the nine acts on this year's shortlist, which includes metal icons Metallica, rock guitarist Jeff Beck, and soul singer Bobby Womack. The final five, determined by a ballot of more than 500 industry voters, will be announced in January, ahead of the 24th annual induction ceremony in Cleveland on April 4.

Regarding the top officials of the Hall of Fame's foundation, Simmons said: "A lot of those guys on the board can go and get my sandwich when I want, and I mean that in the nicest way," he said.

The speech was filmed for an episode of his reality show Gene Simmons Family Jewels, currently in its third season on the A&E cable channel.

Paul Stanley Hoping To Do A New KISS Album

KISS frontman Paul Stanley recently did an interview with Classic Rock in which he talked about the possibility of a brand new KISS album which would be the first studio album of all new KISS material since 1998's "Psycho Circus." You can view some excerpts of the interview below:

What does the future hold for KISS?

"It looks like we’ll be touring Europe as well as the States next year. You’ll be getting more of what you saw at the Download festival this past summer – the KISS Alive! vibe amped up to the max. There might even be a new KISS album at some point. I have been ambivalent to the idea in the past but I’m much more open to it now."

Why is that?
"Well, I thought that I'd be content for KISS to remain a heritage act, just playing our greatest hits – 'Detroit Rock City' and all that. But the new KISS line-up with Tommy Thayer (guitar) and Eric Singer (drums) is proving to be so good, so strong in spirit, it would interesting to see how we perform in the studio. I must stress that no recording time has been booked at this point. But it if we were to go into the studio, the intention would be to make a KISS album in the style of our 1970s recordings. A classic KISS album, unmistakably."

Black N Blue Reunion Moves Forward w/ Fest Dates

BLACK ‘N BLUE has launched a reunion in 2008 featuring four original members in Jaime St. James (vocals), Jef “Woop” Warner (guitar), Pete Holmes (drums), and Patrick Young (Bass). The four members are joined by second guitarist, Shawn Sonnenschein, who has been in the fold since 2003 when the band had played a few dates. Sonnenschein is the replacement for original guitarist, Thommy Thayer, who is currently in KISS.

The band was reactivated earlier this year after St. James departure from Warrant. “My 4 years in Warrant were awesome. I made some lifetime friends and will always cherish that time in my life. That being said, it feels so good to sing the great Black ‘N Blue tunes again,” St. James says.

The band played this year’s Rocklahoma Festival earlier this month. In addition, the band has also been added to the main stage at the Rock the Bayou Festival in Houston on Labor Day Weekend where they are scheduled to perform on Sunday, August 31. Further show announcements are expected in the coming weeks. There is also a plan to tour the UK and Europe in early November, with further information to be announced shortly.

In addition to the shows, Black 'N Blue will also hit the studio in the coming months to complete the long awaited released, "Hell Yeah!" Plans for its release will be announced later this year.

Kiss, Ramones Members Guest w/ Pearl Jam In NYC

Billboard.com reports: Pearl Jam gave a nod to its classic rock influences last night (June 25) in New York, drafting Kiss guitarist Ace Frehley and Ramones bassist C.J. Ramone for guest appearances during the second of a two-night stand at Madison Square Garden.

Frehley turned up to play lead guitar on Kiss' "Black Diamond," which was mostly sung by drummer Matt Cameron, with guitarist Mike McCready, an admitted Frehley obsessive, handling the first verse.

As he'd done the night before, Ramone thundered through his former band's "I Believe in Miracles" with Pearl Jam. Frontman Eddie Vedder also saluted his guitar tech, Ricky Ramone, who had long worked for the late Johnny Ramone before joining Pearl Jam.

Secretary Of State Condoleezza Rice Meets Kiss

According to the Associated Press, the Kiss Army fan club has an enthusiastic new recruit: Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. Rice was in the Swedish capital of Stockholm on Thursday for an international conference on Iraq. Kiss had a sold-out concert to play Friday.

"I was thrilled," Rice said of her late-night encounter with current Kiss members Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Eric Singer, and Tommy Thayer in the executive lounge of the Sheraton Hotel, where they signed autographs and handed out backstage passes and T-shirts to her staff.

"It was really fun to meet Kiss and Gene Simmons," she told reporters, noting that they seemed well informed about current events. The band had asked if she could stop by after she finished dinner with the Swedish foreign minister, and Rice—who says her favorite Kiss tune is "Rock and Roll All Nite"—apparently readily agreed.
