Gene Simmons Talks About New KISS Album

Iconic KISS bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons has discussed the process of making the new KISS album with Pagina12 in a recent interview. An excerpt from the chat reads as follows:
"We are making a new album produced by PAUL STANLEY, because I do not have the patience to get into a studio and stay there for six months. Who better than Paul for that? The idea is to make the record quickly, like we did at the time of Destroyer, Rock And Roll Over and Love Gun. But we must be prepared, so we are now working on songs when we have time. Maybe in March we will go in a studio and recorded two or three songs. The idea is to work well, little by little, we can not spend too much time in the studio, it has to be fast."

I don't like these words from Gene. Not one bit. If a band works at all they work together, even if it's only two of the original members. If Gene isn't even in the studio, we might as well just call it Paul Stanley and the gang. Paul seems to be the only one that's into this. That's why he's always been my favorite member of the band.

the fact that Paul will be writing most of the songs will make it a decent cd. ace and peter absent is also a good thing cause they've lost thier touch. Tommy and eric will add the needed force to the band. Let Paul write the songs and let gene do only what he does best - blood and fire gimmicks.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this will be a true 70's style album. If it is, I believe it can be the best new KISS album since Love Gun... Paul is definitely the one at the controls, and he wont put out garbage. This could breathe new life into KISS ... that's what I'm hoping for. We need one more Rock n Roll over !! Please Paul... make it happen !!

it just really dissapoints me. the first album i ever got was kiss and i was like 5 my dad gave me all his records like Alive II, Destroyer, love gun, Hotter than Hell, Rock and roll all over and even dynasty and i thought it was the best music in the world...i still think its awesome. but to see gene simmons not even care just to be putting it out for money just really sucks. why even do it? im not one to stereotype but he is acting like quite the money grubber. its like yall were saying why not just call it paul stanley and friends if he's the only one doing stuff. i realize producing an album is more than just recording it and making sure the songs and performances turn out great and you gotta work on things like budgets, song charts, and all this other paperwork bullsh** and i understand not wanting to mess with THAT aspect, but it shouldnt keep him from writing. now if he were to be exited about it and be like "yea were gonna put out another kiss record were working really hard on it and its gonna be kick a$$ paul and i are gonna put the kiss magic on this sh** and make you crap your pants" i would be interested. but it just seems like something else for him to sell to us. he's giving kiss a bad name.
im telling you its the corperations man there taking over and soon were all gonna be slaves to the aliens the government is hiding.

Wow. I mean, just, wow. I didn't realize there really were people like this. Did you just pop out of an episode of Law and Order or something? What about all those "bankers" and "moneygrubbers" who aren't Jews, or all those Jews who aren't bankers? I'm not fan of Gene Simmons, but to say that all Jews are moneygrubbers is like saying all blacks love collard greens and have great corn bread recipes or all whites live in trailers and can't wait to watch Nascar. Listen to ''god of thunder'' as is recorded on kiss alive II and don't tell me you don't hear death metal in it's fetal form. Check out any interview from james hetfield and he'll mention the first song he ever learned to play on guitar is kiss' dr.love . like it or not - kiss has made a lasting impression on rock and metal music.

^ I guess I should have clarified when saying that I'm not a fan of Gene Simmons (assuming that's what you are referring to) that I meant I don't dig his music. There's no question that he influenced modern metal. We wouldn't post about KISS if they didn't see (see the many discussions in the news posts about the band "The Answer" that we've had to have with people about this very subject). I'd say without hesitation that at the very least their outfits and makeup paved the way for corpse paint and spiked armor.
I was waiting for dependable Oz to bring up the troll aspect, although I was quite disappointed that we had to miss out on your famous line about the obvious :(

i know ALOT of white people that like nascar infact my whole family LOVES it(not me). and i live in a shed. sure most stereotypes are lame but they do come from a place of slight truth. now i dont know about ALL black people liking collard greens but i do know they like chicken and watermelon...but so do i and im white...theres nothing wrong with a black person liking chicken or watermelon. infact i come from a small town thats half white half black and you know what the yearly festival is? the WATERMELON festival. and all the black people come up there and get free watermelon...and so do the white people. and i wouldnt say jews are "moneygrubbers" but id say gene simmons is...and whats wrong with being rich? nothing. but not putting your heart and soul into your music simply for the Sake of having more money is. and plus just b/c your a fiscally responsible jew doesn mean thats a bad thing. i would think jews that have money would be proud of it, in the same sence that rappers are.

Alright, it appears that alot of the people who are Kiss haters, are so because they so "commercial". Every one in the industry is commercial, it's just because of the bands entertainment value that makes them even more commercial. So what ? Every band has to promote themselves. And you can't deny, Kiss makes/has made some great music. What would the world be like without Rock and Roll All Nite ? There are alot of groups coming back out that have been inactive for years with new members. Kiss are the ultimate showman. You watch them because of the make up, the outfits, the rock and roll. It's show business. And even though Ace and Peter aren't there, the show must go on. But it's unfair to single out Kiss as being too "commercial" when you've got artists putting out albums with 5 different colord collecible album covers.
