Band Photo: Kiss (?)

According to fansite Deucenews.jimdo.com, the new studio album from KISS will feature thirteen new songs. Nine of which were penned by Paul Stanley, one by Tommy Thayer and three by infamous bassist Gene Simmons.

"It's going to be very much a vintage, classic, '70s KISS album without much regard to what's happened since then; it's back to the roots." Says singer/guitarist Paul Stanley who will produce the album.

I disagree somewhat kiss imho were very influential in the history of metal. But that travesty of what that band is now is unexcusable. Take the fukkin makeup off and call yourself half-kiss like you were in the mid 80s to early 90's then it will be legit.

Been a huge fan all my life and think its a great laugh watchin both fans and non fans b**** about ACE & PETER. I love both of these guys the original 4 are gods.... but for f*** sake move on.. Ace and Peter are the reason the original 4 no longer excist... what are Gene and Paul meant to do.. Retire because you say so?.... i personally believe they should hang it up if they are not gonna record.. but they are, so all the haters can listen and mock them, and then get p***ed when they secretly realise that a new Kiss album from any line up would make most bands out now sound like the steaming piles of sh** they are!!!!

I may be wrong, but if they did things with the fans in mind, they would have released new stuff along time ago. [MONEY!!] It's no secret that Ace & Peter had their own problems and may have caused some problems in the band back in the day, but Paul & Gene have caused many problems and bad feelings by being control freaks in the band. During the "Reunion Tour" Ace even said that once they started the tour, it was okay and fun again. Then Paul & Gene wanted to go on and on and on... Peter had trouble with his arms & hands from playing so many shows crammed together. Then came a "Farewell Tour" that never really ended.

I don't know what has happened to metalfans nowadays. People keep whining that Kiss is "to commercial", "it's all about money" and that the original lineup is all that matters. Don't you understand that by makin heavy rockmusic and makin it commercial, Kiss paved a road for all bands who followed? We all owe Kiss for helping make metal a strong musical force. And about Peter and Ace: I love those guys. But if you scan through the pages of all that's been written about Kiss, both interwievs and books, it's not hard to understand that Ace and Peter never had the mental health to cope with the pressure of super stardom. They are fantastic, creative legendary rock musicians. But they are also drug addicts. And by the way - i think it's f***ing great that kiss will record a new studio album. 9 songs by Paul Stanley... It's great. He gave us all the greatest Kiss-hits from Detroit rock city to God of Thunder or Black diamond. Can't wait to hear how his new material will sound. And I don't care wich f***ing lineup will play on the CD. It's a well known fact that much of the original work on the 70's albums was made with the help of studio musicians. But I never hear anyone complain about the Guitarrwork on Destroyer, Love Gun or Rock and roll over. f*** you Kiss haters out there - learn to appreciate Metal history, before you call yourself metal fans.

It's just plain sad. What's rong with making money on what you do? Getting so tired of people whining about Gene Simmons. What the f***... Kiss has been touring all over theworld for 35 years... They gave us some truly fantastic hard rocking songs that influenced many other bands... Don't these guys deserve to earn huge amounts of cash? I think so. And I don't think that anyone of you narrow minded commie-sounding low-life metalheads would turn down that kind of money if it was offered you. Kiss has been a success for 35 years. Hard work pays off. But hey... If you prefere to worship emotionally disturbed, lowlife, sh**ty, noncommercial, suicidal, and broke Metal bands - GO AHEAD! I prefere to look at life and music in a more positive way. Life is a party, and you don't have to be ashamed if a lot of cash comes your way.

While I am actually a KISS fan, and have been since age 7, I will never fault a band for staying "non-commercial". Being a young bassist I kinda idolized Gene. Growing up I've seen the reality of the man is far different fromt he on-stage persona. While KISS needed the marketing to further their career (lets be honest, the music is secondary to the bands success) I really don't want most of the bands I enjoy on a cereal box or trying to sell me Doritos. The extent to which Gene more than any other member has gone is to the point of absurdity. Reality Shows, Game Shows, I mean "Mr. Romance"? What the hell?

The guys' attitude is not to be commended. He is, as his album stated, a self-proclaimed "a$$hole". And he's lived up to it. With that in mind, I think he's opened up the flood-gates himself for folks to talk smack about him.

Oh, and Al Franken beat his a$$ at raquetball. Then after making "boc boc" noises and begging for a rematch walked away when Al asked him to put his money where his mouth was and play again for a $500 wager. It's crap like that.

KISS was my first concert at age 13, and it still ranks pretty high even though I've seen ALOT of shows, but as long as Gene makes a spectacle (or ass) of himself he will suffer the backlash. You'll notice that I have not stooped to insults here. I still respect the remaining members to a degree. Yeah, they are kinda a novelty at this point, but I still think back to being 7 and staring at the cover of "Destroyer".

Paul actually just released a series of guitars called the PS5 Preacher, I believe, that are well made but economically feasible for the younger musician. That's cool.

A reality show on "Oxygen"? Not so much.

Ace and Peter were in the band for five productive years...73,74,75,76,77... then they did the solo albums and were barely on any subsequent albums. Yes... those five years were magic... but because of Paul and Gene... we the fans have had KISS for 32 additional years... When you step out of the garage as a band and start charging people for shows... you have to deliver... Ace and Peter could not because the drugs and booze came too easy. It's sad... but what can you do... move the hell on kids... move on! Eric and Tommy are great musicians doing a great job for the fans... making a LOT less money doing it than any of the originals... give them the credit they deserve for helping keep a band alive that we love !

KISS HAS SOLD MORE LUNCHBOXES THAN YOUR BAND WILL EVER SELL ALBUMS!
1 kiss shows profit could pay your mortgage for a year.

a new KISS album....im already in line to buy it.
and ill bet its still KISS,unlike the new L.O.G.,KILLSWITCH,etc.......

I'm not here to trash KISS, they have done alot for heavy metal, but I will say this...if any band sold out MORE than Metallica, it would be KISS. These guys may have paved the way for MANY metal bands, but they have also been looking for one thing, and thats the profit.

I like my metal, and music period, to stand for something besides money. I hear enough about money when it comes to Rap. Really. I like bands that do what they do, because they f***ing love to do it, not just because they need the cash.

KISS has done alot, good and bad. I won't sit here and trash them, because I know they've made sacrifices for heavy metal, but the way they sold out was no better then just spitting in the face of metal.

So, in conclusion, I will say this, I'm NOT a fan of KISS, and I WON'T be purchasing this album, because thats just an extra say $15 dollars going into Gene's pocket. The same thing happens to Metallica when it comes to me.
