Xandria Splits With Vocalist
German symphonic metal band Xandria has now split with its fifth vocalist, officially parting ways with Dianne van Giersbergen today. The group issued this statement:
"Dear all, we are very sad about the situation that we and you, the people following Xandria, have to face now. After we already had to cancel many concerts since July due to Dianne not being able to perform we had now been informed by her that she is leaving the band with immediate effect.
"This happened after we published news that the upcoming concerts will be played with a temporary replacement singer. It was clear to everyone, including Dianne, that it was supposed to be a temporary solution only. We had to learn about her departure in a way that has been surprising us very much and with a statement in which we do not recognize ourselves in.
"We have been very downhearted about not being able to play these concerts, and probably would not have been able to play for an undetermined time also in the future. For that reason, we wanted to play at least the concerts in November and December with a temporary replacement singer that can celebrate the music we love so much together with you and us, instead of cancelling any more concerts.
"We always have been doing our best to be there for you fans, so we tried the same in this difficult situation. Just as we always tried to find a good way to care for all members of the band to live the passion that is music, which can sometimes be difficult for everyone. Unfortunately, it seems that Dianne´s needs and goals were drifting apart from the band´s ones.
"However, we are proudly looking back at what we achieved together and we are thanking Dianne for the great times we shared and everything she did for the band. We wish her all the best for what she is heading for on her future way. We will live the passion we have for our music together with you all on our concerts in November, December & beyond! With a heavy heart, but at the same time looking forward to the future and to see you out there sharing our music with you,
"Philip, Marco, Steven & Gerit." More...

Metal Bands Express Support For Paris
Since the ISIS-led terrorist attacks in Paris that have left at least 129 dead, bands from across the globe have come come online to express their support for the people of France.
It's no surprise that many metal band actually played the same venue (the Bataclan) that was assaulted Friday night in the attack at the Eagles Of Death Metal show. Below are several longer messages left by metal and hardcore bands about the situation.
For those with strong stomachs, footage has also come online shot just outside the venue during the attack as show-goers fled from the terrorist gunmen.
Xandria: "Hand in hand for love, not hate. Today we wanted to share news and updates about our music with you - but like you all we too are left speechless. When a scene of terror hits you so close to home you truly feel how fragile the world is and how scarce mankind being united has become. As touring musicians, we had been playing yesterday's scene of terror, 'Le Bataclan' in Paris, multiple times ourselves. Today it's hard to imagine that a place where we found happiness in numerous occasions, within minutes became a house of horror. Violence and war are never an answer! " More...

Xandria Details New EP "Fire & Ashes"
German symphonic metal act Xandria announced the details of the upcoming new EP to be entitled "Fire & Ashes." The EP will drop on July 31st via Napalm Records. The cover artwork (shown below) was designed by eminently respectable Felipe Machado, known also for his works with Rage, Blind Guardian, Iron Savior and Rhapsody of Fire.
In addition to three new tracks, "Fire & Ashes" will feature two re-recorded classics: "Ravenheart" (from the 2004 release of the same name) and "Now & Forever" (from the 2005 release "India"). Two covers will be included as well: Sonata Arctica's "Don't Say a Word" and Meatloaf's "I Would Do Anything for Love."
The band commented on the choice of the Meatloaf classic: "During the photoshoot for the Sacrificium record we were digging through our music libraries to find something appropriate for getting us in the right mood. At some point we got stuck with an artist every one of us had a crush on someone with and a story to tell about back then from our teenager days in the earlier 90ies.
"We straight away started joking about doing a Xandria version of this particular song, but really forgot about it until the discussion of doing some remake for an EP came up again. With the biggest respect we started this operation of transforming one of our all time faves, a real classic, into a Xandria hymn. Well, we think we quite did an 'okay' job and on July the 31st it`s your turn to decide whether you`ve got a favorite song or not."
The track listing for "Fire & Ashes" is:
1. Voyage of The Fallen (New Track)
2. Unembraced (New Track)
3. In Remembrance (New Track)
4. Ravenheart (2015 Version)
5. Now & Forever (2015 Version)
