The Richmond, VA 5-piece, Lamb of God, came together in the current form in the fall of 1999. The band has been around in various forms and under various names, most notably Burn The Priest, since '94, however, and the brothers, Chris and Willie, have been playing music together since '88.

Lamb of God signed with Epic records in 2004 and completed their major label debut in just 5 months before embarking on their first Ozzfest tour and subsequent US and UK tours.

Lamb of God play a caustic style of extreme metal that can be compared to few others. It can best be described as a raw mixture of death and doom metal elements, but that description does not do their sound justice. Go get their CD or catch a show and hear it for yourself.

More Bands Confirmed For Soundwave Festival 2012

Although it wasn't expected until December, the organizers of Australia's Soundwave Festival have made their second band announcement. Joining the 60 bands already announced are Staind, Wednesday 13, Unearth, Cathedral, Shadows Fall, Heaven Shall Burn, Your Demise, Kittie, and 14 other (mostly non-metal) bands.

Hole has pulled out of the festival after frontwoman Courtney Love refused to play before Limp Bizkit. Soundwave boss AJ Maddah said on Twitter that he was "relieved we got the moody old cow off the bill. [There’s] no point talking her back, only for her to cancel later, or turn up & act like a rotten twat to other artists, fans, etc."

A third announcement in early December will add another five bands to the lineup, and Danzig is one of the confirmed possibilities. More...

Lamb Of God Frontman Reflects On 9/11 Tragedy

Randy Blythe, vocalist for Lamb of God, recently took to his official Twitter account discussing the 10 year anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy and the impact it had on his life. You can read Blythe's statement below.

"10 years ago I woke up late as usual, drank some coffee, & walked to my cooking job at Avalon restaraunt in RVA. I was in a good mood. I came in & saw my buddy Steve (born & raised in NYC) & said "Wassup man" & he said "I guess we’re at war again man." I looked up & the TV. I saw the planes fly into the towers again & again. I didn’t really understand it at first. Didn’t open the restaurant that day. We watched. As the day wore on, I watched the tv, it sank in what had happened to all those people & I remember thinking "Things will never be the same."

"Finally at some point in the day it REALLY sunk in & I began to cry. NYC, the Pentagon, the passengers on 93 who fought them TO THE GROUND. I wanted the images to stop, & at some point I stopped watching tv. But the images wouldn’t stop, & have shaped my life since in many ways. A lot of ugly things happened after 9/11 but for a brief time there was a spirit of unity amongst my people, OUR people, the American people.

"Today I think should be a solemn day of reflection, not just on those lost & their kin, but on the meaning of what it is to be one of us. I have been literally around the world several times, & I remain convinced that the United States of America is THE GREATEST NATION ON EARTH. We are ONE nation made up of MANY people. Let us remember that, & try to act accordingly. It should not take a tragedy to remind us if that.

"Ten years later, I’m in NYC having my coffee, then I’ll go to work just like in 2001. But first I’ll stop by Ground Zero to pay my respects. So it’s a sad day, but it’s good for me to be here. New York City still stands tall, as does DC near my Virginian home. We ain’t going away & we WONT go away as long as we remain UNITED. THINK about it, & be good to each other. Im off to Ground Zero. Have a good day."

More GWAR-B-Q Details Revealed

The sickest party ever just got even sicker as Slave Pit Inc. and Metal Blade Records announced new details of the upcoming GWAR-B-Q, which takes place on September 17th, 2011. Joining the festivities will be none other than Metal Blade recording artist and VH1 "That Metal Show" co-host, comedian Don Jamieson, who will be performing a stand-up set on the main stage of the event. Jamieson will also be joining the star-speckled judges of this year's "American A-Hole" competition, which will also include Oderus Urungus' alter ego Dave Brockie and will be hosted by none other than GWAR's manager, underworld mogul Sleazy P. Martini.

Said Jamieson, "As a fan of GWAR since 'Scumdogs of the Universe,' I am honored to perform on the same stage they will undoubtedly ejaculate on."

GWAR is also happier than "an Orc in an orphanage" to welcome notorious malcontent and "Jackass/Viva La Bam" star Chris Rabb, a.k.a. "Rabb Himself" to the festivities. Rabb, who has recently been showcasing his talents behind the camera with his new project "Hot Dog Casserole," will be calling the action at the GWAR-B-Q's version of extreme sports, "the Spew-Olympics."

Not to be outdone, homeboy and Lamb of God lead singer Randy Blythe will be judging the GWAR-B-Q Cook-off, and local bike gang The Cutthroats will be presenting a special bike-jousting event. But just because the GWAR-B-Q is over doesn't mean the fun has to end. After the GWAR set, head over to McCormacks Irish Pub for the official GWAR-B-Q after party, featuring Hex Machine, The Landmines, U.S. Brass, and more.

Full details are available by heading over to GWAR's website here.

Chris Adler Wins Modern Drummer Readers Poll

In March 2011, Chris also set out on a successful clinic tour, wrote a number of articles for Modern Drummer, had a signature snare drum produced by Mapex, and released his first instructional book, The Making of New American Gospel: Drum Tablature, Short Stories and Reflections."

Lamb of God Drummer Issues Update

Lamb of God drummer Chris Adler has issued an update on Facebook, discussing the band and his own plans for the future:

"Things are moving along very well these days in my world. A few big surprises are in the works and the expected is as expected. We have been busting our butts full time for months writing the new record, it's fantastic so far to say the very least. Now switched into prep mode for Montreal show Friday, our only show in 2011. It will mark the middle of the year that we are taking to write new record and reconnect with our families. Its come up fast but the hard work is now behind us. Surprises are more specific to me and will come about later this year. Will say they have to do with Epic (not our record label) cameras, large drumfest overseas and a recording opportunity with a different band that will push me to every limit! All good stuff but first and foremost - my top priority is my daughters 3rd birthday this weekend. Its gonna be a rager! We did Sesame St. LIVE last weekend and we are PUMPED! LOL."

Lamb Of God's Chris Adler - The Nashville Clinic

Let’s be honest: Instrument workshops or clinics are usually either self-indulgent, all about show, or strictly educational. You’ve got your Michael Angelo Batio types who think a four-necked guitar is just the coolest thing and can’t wait to start noodling for the crowd. You’ve got your Tim Yeung (Vital Remains, Divine Heresy) types that like to show off ridiculous dexterity and muscle control to the max. You’ve even got your Melissa Cross types, which are mostly educational.

That’s not saying they’re not amazing at what they do, but rarely do you see a musician who checks their ego at the door, talks about their career instead of their techniques, plays more obscure songs, and doesn’t try to instruct everyone in the audience. The drummer from Grammy-nominated American heavy metal titans Lamb of God, Chris Adler, did just that. More...
