The Richmond, VA 5-piece, Lamb of God, came together in the current form in the fall of 1999. The band has been around in various forms and under various names, most notably Burn The Priest, since '94, however, and the brothers, Chris and Willie, have been playing music together since '88.

Lamb of God signed with Epic records in 2004 and completed their major label debut in just 5 months before embarking on their first Ozzfest tour and subsequent US and UK tours.

Lamb of God play a caustic style of extreme metal that can be compared to few others. It can best be described as a raw mixture of death and doom metal elements, but that description does not do their sound justice. Go get their CD or catch a show and hear it for yourself.

Lamb Of God’s Blythe Speaks Up For Gun Control

In the wake of the recent school shooting in Parkland, FL, Lamb Of God frontman Randy Blythe has publicly spoken up for gun control via his Instagram:

“2.15.2018 No more “thoughts & prayers”, please. You can take those & put them towards something that only God, fate, random chance, the universe, whatever you believe/do not believe in can affect- they might do some good there. Instead of “thinking & praying”, here’s a CONCRETE ACTION you can take- you can contact your legislators & DEMAND that there be some reasonable, common-sense gun law changes. DEMAND IT, & KEEP DEMANDING IT. Most of the American people, including a lot of gun owners, want this. Why isn’t this happening?

How many more kids have to die until WE THE PEOPLE get fed up enough to force the government to do something? The time for “thoughts & prayers” is long past- it’s a slap in the face of people who continue to die as a result of crazy people armed with LEGALLY obtained high-powered semiautomatic weapons, weapons that are designed for JUST ONE THING- killing human beings. I grew up in the country, with guns in the house- these were shotguns, used for hunting.

You don’t use an AR-15 for hunting deer, you use it for hunting MEN, or (apparently) CHILDREN. The lunatic shooter in Florida is 19 years old & can’t buy a six pack of beer by law because our society doesn’t believe he is mature enough to handle it, but he LEGALLY obtained a deadly weapon of war designed to inflict as many casualties as possible from a single person wielding it, & he used it to wage war on CHILDREN. What does this tell you about American society? Some people don’t like the term “assault rifle.”

Ok, cool- why don’t we call them “Kid Killers” then? Is that a little better? Can we get a little KID KILLER control happening? Is it still “too early” to start talking about getting these KID KILLERS off the streets? Are the students who survived the massacre in Florida & who are publicly begging us, the adults in charge of things, for gun law reform “politicizing” the whole thing? Is it “too early” for THEM to bring it up?

Should we just tell them to shut up because they are children & don’t understand adult matters, stuff like why crazy people can easily buy assault rifles & then SHOOT THEM DEAD in the classroom? NO MORE THOUGHTS & PRAYERS- THEY AIN’T WORKING.”

Slayer's Touring Partners Speak About Trek

Members of Lamb Of God, Behemoth, Testament and Anthrax have spoken about their upcoming tour of North America with Slayer, which is part of the headliner's, "End Of Days" farewell tour. Lamb Of God frontman Randy Blythe had this to say:

"If you are lucky enough to be invited to play even just once with living legends like Slayer, it's an incredible honor. Slayer gave Lamb Of God our very first two overseas shows. Slayer has subsequently taken us on several full-length tours, both at home and abroad. The guys in Slayer and their crew have also always been very, very cool to our band. It is irrefutable that Slayer helped create the genre of aggressive metal, and all modern bands of that ilk owe them a huge debt - I know we do. To be asked to be a part of their final tour - well, it just makes you stop and realize just how lucky you are. Hail Slayer! We'll see you on the road..."

Testament vocalist Chuck Billy added: "Sharing the stage with Slayer once again is going to be an honor, and to be a part of the final tour is going to be a special privilege for us. Slayer has influenced so many aggressive bands in their career. This tour will be an epic time for all who attend. Do yourself a favor and clear your calendars when this show comes to town. This will be your last chance to see a tour like this. Get ready North America for the devastation." More...

Unbuilt Releasing Second Issue

Upon release of Unbuilt's first issue earlier this year, the music world was abuzz regarding the new culture and lifestyle magazine developed and designed by music industry veteran Tom Bejgrowicz, and featuring editorial from notable musicians such as D. Randall Blythe (Lamb of God) and Alex Skolnick (Testament, Alex Skolnick Trio).

At the time of its initial launch, Tom Bejgrowicz stated, "While the three of us are bonded by music, that's just the tip of the iceberg for who we are as people. Just as Alex and Randy have inspired so many, they're equally inspired and motivated by a unique variety of people, places and things. It's those very inspirations that make them who they are, their music sound like it does and their words ring true for so many. Unbuilt gives the three of us a platform to share those influences with whomever will listen."

The Unbuilt team, now accented by the mind of Arch Enemy vocalist Alissa White-Gluz, is pleased to announce the upcoming release of Issue 02. Pre-orders begin today via this location, with worldwide shipping beginning on Halloween, October 31st.

Bejgrowicz adds, "Having Alissa White-Gluz join our team offers a unique, socially conscious point of view with a very different backstory than that of Randy, Alex and I. She's not only a fantastic singer - her passion for animal rights, environmentalism, health, and responsible citizenship deliver a lot to the pages of Unbuilt." More...

EyeHateGod Taps Randy Blythe For Tour

Lamb Of God's Randy Blythe will be filling in for EyeHateGod vocalist Mike IX Williams on the group's upcoming fall tour with Discharge and Toxic Holocaust. Elaborates Williams of the decision:

"Once again, rather than cancel an amazing tour, we have chosen for EyeHateGod to continue on and give one-thousand-percent. This 2016 Discharge tour is super important to me as that band has been a huge influence on my life, but my health situation right now dictates that I am not able to take the stage and perform to the best of my abilities every single night.

"This is where our good friend Randy Blythe from Lamb Of God comes into the picture. We've known Randall since the early '90s when EyeHateGod would pass through Virginia and he'd offer for us to crash at his crib after our gigs. Great times and we became great friends.

"To have Mr. Blythe on board as a fill in for me on vocals for this run is a true 'circle-stays-unbroken' turn of events! Coming off the heels of Philip Anselmo doing vocals for EyeHateGod on two high profile shows [last month's performances at Southport Music Hall in New Orleans, Louisiana and the 2016 edition of Gwar BQ in Richmond, Virginia respectively], both of these men are at the top of their game. I am getting the medical help I need and will return to the band as soon as possible. Thank you, everybody... "

Adds Blythe, "Anyone who knows me well knows that I am a massive EyeHateGod fan. I've seen them play more times than I can remember, my old side project covered 'Dixie Whiskey' for an EyeHateGod tribute album, I wear their merch, I even have a freaking EyeHateGod tattoo that I got in New Orleans. They are one of my favorite bands of all time, period. I've also been friends with the guys in the band since the '90s... actually, I knew them before I knew the dudes in my own band, and EyeHateGod would often crash at my crib when they came through Richmond. Lamb Of God Posts New Video "Embers"

Lamb Of God premieres a new music video for "Embers", featuring a guest turn from Deftones frontman Chino Moreno. The track is from the band's latest album "VII: Sturm Und Drang".

Check out now "Embers" below. Says Lamb Of God guitarist Mark Morton about the clip:

"About 12 years ago, I began writing a song that I instantly knew was special. The sinewy, meandering, groove-laden riff… the open, expansive landscape chorus… the cycling, hypnotic lead hook… they all presented themselves to me in a way that we songwriters often hope for, but rarely get to experience. It felt somehow divine, or otherwise supernatural to feel the music and energy coalescing and choosing me as their medium. It was one of the most exciting, satisfying and elusive feelings I’ve ever known.

"Knowing that I was on to something special musically, I began the task of penning lyrics to this new creation. Art was imitating life. I was very newly in love with a beautiful young woman who would eventually become my wife. I yearned to let her know how deeply I felt for her, painstakingly scribbling lyrics asking my love to “take hold of my hand” and promising her she was “never alone.” The song was called “Walk With Me In Hell.” I must admit, at the time, I had absolutely no idea that my quasi-poetic notion of asking my new partner to “walk with me in Hell,” meant that she soon would.

"Four years later, my wife and I found ourselves in a small corner of a neonatal intensive care unit, holding and caressing our first born infant daughter. The ambient hum of medical machinery droned in the background and a panoramic window framing the Shenandoah Mountains sprawled out in front of my new family and I. We gazed lovingly over every detail of our daughter’s face, every freckle on her skin, cataloging every sound and smell the way all new parents do. The difference was that our child had developed an infection during delivery. She was very, very sick and her prognosis hadn’t yet been determined. Later that day, our daughter Madalyn Grace Morton died in my arms. We were walking through Hell. Life was imitating art." More...

Chris Adler's Time With Megadeth Comes To An End

In a new interview with MachineMusic, Dave Mustaine has revealed that Chris Adler is no longer with the band.

Adler (Lamb Of God) joined on last year to work on the "Dystopia" album and his replacement has not yet been announced. Check out an excerpt from the interview below, in which Mustaine explains Adler's departure and takes a few shots at MetalSucks and Blabbermouth.

MachineMusic: The band has its fair share of staff reshuffles along the way, a long-running band so it’s natural for that to happen, have you found that your attitude toward that, toward welcoming new people in, the consideration you take into who you want to join the band, has that changed over the years? With Chris and Kiko in the band, do you have other things in mind as to what you’re looking for? Personal chemistry, musical chemistry?

If you’re in the presence of greatness, it’s shameful not to allow that to be great. But let me back up though: Chris Adler is not in Megadeth, he’s in Lamb of God. He was a session guy, he was what you could call work for hire. And he has nothing to do with us anymore, and he is with his band. I am very grateful for his contributions, I’m grateful for him introducing us to Dirk. We still haven't announced who our new drummer is going to be, it won’t be Chris Adler, because he’s in Lamb of God.

As far as having new guys in the band, as you grow up you have a choice either to learn from your mistakes or you’re destined to repeat them. And a lot of the things that I do, because of the nature of who I am, every move that I make is chronicled. There are a couple of websites in particular that would go under if it wasn’t for me, because they survive off of posting every breath I take.

MachineMusic: I have a feeling I know which two you’re talking about. More...

Lamb Of God Awarded Gold Certification Plaques

This past Tuesday, May 17th, Lamb Of God was awarded RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) gold certification plaques for the breakout 2004 Epic Records release, "Ashes Of The Wake."

The album was certified gold this past February for sales in excess of 500,000. The plaques were presented by Epic Records Senior Vice President of Marketing Scott Carter to the entire band at the Paramount in Huntington, NY just prior to the band's sold out performance.

Guitarist Mark Morton offers his thoughts on the RIAA certification: "Wow, a gold record in the US! These types of milestones always leave me astounded. When we started this band in a little Richmond, VA basement, we honestly never even dreamed that we would tour all over the world, see so many places and reach so many people with our music.

"I remain amazed and humbled when I think about the experiences and opportunities I've had the chance to be a part of over the course of our career. It is nothing short of an honor to know that our words and music have touched so many people's lives.

"Thank You to the Lamb Of God fans... each and every one of you. While this achievement is very special to us, even more cherished is the opportunity to have an outlet for our music and a loyal fan base all over the world that makes us feel at home everywhere we go. Thank you!"

Lamb Of God is currently headlining a North American tour with renowned rockers Clutch and heavy metal veterans Corrosion of Conformity. More...
