^Personally, I'm more excited for the new release than having sex with your girl today. ;)
LOL @ Post #6. They do seem to have a general formula, but it works for them. One thing I like about LoG is that each member contributes to the creation process. There really is no weak link where one member is replaceble. Each successive album has contained an evolutionary change in skill and production over the previous.
Wrath seemed pretty well balanced and included a bit more rawness than the polished sound of Sacrament.
However, I hope they recapture some of the vibe from ATPB and NAG. The guitar work on those gave off an ominous sound that seems to be subdued in their later releases. Not being a guitarist, it's hard for me to explain.

I got into LoG with sacrament, and even I think they started to go downhill after Ashes of the Wake. Not to say that Sacrament and Wrath werent good, but they dont seem to hold up as well as their first three albums. Especailly on Wrath, theyre guilty of EXACTLY what Crawford is pointing out, where theyve settled into a sound and half the songs are based off the same riff patterns. That being said, Grace, In your words, and Reclamation are instant classics in the bands catalog as far as im concerned.
What I'm saying is that while they havent knocked me off the bandwagon yet, I'm still a bit weary of the structural stability of said wagon. I await this album as a rabid fan, but this time I'm prepared to possibly be dissapointed.

I jumped on at "As the Palaces Burn" ... I was initially let down. The vocals (and lyrics for that matter) were great but not especially varied. Time won me over. The more I listened, the more I liked it. I promptly bought their debut. Then came "Ashes of the Wake". Fandom set in. I found a catchy, crushingly heavy band with both intellect and conviction... Not to mention an irate vocalist. A good metal vocalist can sound fearsome and be entertaining but the ones who can fully and fluently be furious are the best.
