Flaw Frontman Chris Volz Recording Solo Album
Chris Volz, formerly of FLAW and the recently-disbanded Five.Bolt.Main, is currently recording and will be releasing his debut solo album on Rock Ridge Music this fall. The album title and track list will be announced once recording is finished. Manning the production side of things are a team including Matt Chiaravalle (Kittie, Crossbreed, Warren Zevon) and Rock Ridge Music principals. Earlier this month, the members of Five.Bolt.Main parted ways and Volz began work on his solo record.
Says Rock Ridge Music principal Jason Spiewak of the recording process: “Working with Volz has been awesome. The songs that he’s working on are deeply personal. The music and lyrics speak about his life, his experiences, his connection to music.”
Volz himself is very excited about the new material. “We’ve got a great team working on the record, and it’s giving me a chance to fully express myself in a solo capacity,” Volz says. “I’ve put a lot of time and effort into the material for this album, and it’s based on stuff I’ve worked on for years. The songs are somewhat of a growth process for me as an artist, but I’m looking forward to finishing it and getting it out there for people to hear it.”
Volz plans to tour in support of the album later this year, but in the meantime, he has lined up a handful of shows with his former band, FLAW, with whom he’ll be hitting the Midwest in March.

Says Five.Bolt.Main lead singer Chris Volz: "I am really excited about this next Five Bolt record; the songs we have written are insane. We are also very privileged to be able to work with Chris Henderson as a producer. His ear for melody is just what we need to complete the work. Says Rock Ridge Principal Tom Derr: “"Rock Ridge looks forward to continuing this artist development campaign with Chris Volz and Five.Bolt.Main. The work we have completed over the past year leads us directly to this next step and working on some new exciting music with Chris Henderson." Henderson echos the excitement about the upcoming studio work, saying: “"It’s really refreshing to hear a great rock band play, and when you work with these guys, that's what you get: a great rock band with real songs."
The band also plans to release a live album entitled “Live >From Louisville” in October on Rock Ridge Music. Three live songs were released digitally on June 13th to whet fans’ appetites for the full-length and are available via all digital distribution portals.

Flaw Sophomore Album Details, Tour Dates
FLAW have set a May 4 release date through Republic/Universal Records for their sophomore album, "Endangered Species". The follow-up to 2001's "Through The Eyes" features twelve new tracks, including "Endangered Species", "Medicate", "Wait For Me", "Many Faces", "All The Worst", "Final Cry", "Worlds Divide", "Turn The Tables", "Not Enough", "You've Changed", "Decide", and the first single, "Recognize".
Originally a five-member band, FLAW are now a four-piece made up of: Chris Volz (vocals), Ryan Jurhs (bass, vocals), Lance Arny (guitars), and newest member Micah Havertape (drums).
"We're much better as a four-piece," commented Jurhs. "The band's much tighter, it's much easier to work that way, and we can really pull things off live. I think that's because of the individuals in the band — through all the trials, struggles and tribulations that this band has gone through, we're still here, we always will be, and our focus has never changed."
