Skeletonwitch Reveals Third Vinyl Details

American metal act Skeletonwitch has announced the details of the third, and final, installment of the band's 7" trilogy. Part III will be on gray vinyl and will feature a recently re-recorded version of "Onward To Battle," a track that originally appeared on the band's self-released debut album, "At One With The Shadows." The B-side, meanwhile, is a demo version of a new track, "The Infernal Resurrection," which the group recently debuted on tour with 3 Inches of Blood.

This is the first official taste of Skeletonwitch's new album, which will be released this fall. As with Parts I and II, this 7" - which again features artwork by the group's former drummer, Derrick "Mullet Chad" Nau - is limited to 500 copies. Order information is available at this location.

Skeletonwitch Parts Ways With Drummer

Skeletonwitch has posted the following update online, announcing the addition of Tony Laureano to the band after the departure of drummer Derrick Nau:

"Our good friend Tony will be playing drums on our April tour, new album, and for the foreseeable future. We’re fucking stoked to have a drummer of his caliber and experience on board. He’s a beast behind the kit and a great fucking guy as well. You can’t ask for more than that!”

"After our last tour Derrick informed us that he is putting down the drum sticks and picking up the paint brush. He is returning to art school and does not wish to be a musician anymore. We would like to thank Derrick for his years of dedication to Skeletonwitch. Though we will miss him, there is no bad blood. We will always remain great friends and wish him the best with his new endeavor."

Hatebreed To Play Summer Breeze 2011

Hatebreed has been confirmed to perform at the 2011 edition of the Summer Breeze Open Air. The festival is set to take place from August 18th - 20th, and additional details can be found here. The organizers of the festival commented:

"Summer Breeze has already survived a few tremors over the last few years, but the most severe eruption of them all is yet to come. Hatebreed are gearing up to utterly destroy Dinkelsbühl in 2011 with their killer songs. No other band out there combines the attitude and aggression of hardcore and the uncompromising heaviness of metal in such a perfect way. Scene icon Jamey Jasta and his wrecking crew are the epitome of unleashed energy, the embodiment of credibility, the essence of groove, the purest form of brutality, the rulers of all pits and the blueprint for a whole generation, all rolled into one. Please welcome one of the most important and influential bands of the last decade for the first time at Summer Breeze! Hard, harder, Hatebreed!"

The currently announced lineup is as follows: Arch Enemy, Tyr, Kvelertak, Suicidal Tendencies, Bolt Thrower, J.B.O., Witchery, Farmer Boys, Kalmah, Hail of Bullets, Corvus Corax, Hammerfall, Skeletonwitch, Excrementory Grindfuckers, Kampfar, Hayseed Dixie, Turisas, Marduk, Sonic Syndicate, Decapitated, Moonsorrow, Sodom, and Hatebreed.

Skeletonwitch Writing New Album

Ohio metallers Skeletonwitch completed their tour with Job For A Cowboy earlier this week and are now headed back home to spend the winter writing the follow-up to 2009's "Breathing the Fire," with tentative plans to hit the studio in the spring.

Says guitarist Scott Hedrick, "A huge thank you to the bands, the fans, and everyone else involved in the tour -- except that one promoter; fuck you, dude! Kidding! Anyway, we had a fucking blast as usual. It's hard not to when you're traveling around the country with your best friends and your job is to party and shred.

"When we wake up from the impending holiday blackout, we'll be devoting all of our time finishing the next record. So keep an eye out: as the writing process continues we'll probably book a few dates and debut some new material. Thanks to everyone who supported us in 2010. It's been a great year! Cheers and beers!"

New Metal Tracks Headed To The Rock Band Network

It's a slow metal week for the Rock Band Network on the Xbox 360, with only a single new track titled "Discharge" being added by industrial act Intricate Unit, so you Xbox fans may want to load up some old favorites instead to rock out over the weekend. (Humorous side note at the expense of this particular editor - never Google the word "discharge" with the safe search feature turned off.) On October 5th the PS3 sees more Evile, Amberian Dawn, and Asking Alexandria, while the Wii will get a dose of Skeletonwitch. The complete list of newly added Rock Band Network songs, including the non-metal tracks, is as follows:

Desoto Jones - "Giant Magnets"
Self-Titled - "Indulgence"
Kiss the Girl - "999,999 Girls!"
Shylo Elliott - "Light"
Shylo Elliott - "Bittersweet Melancholy"
