Today the blackened metal outfit Skeletonwitch – which will join Abbath, High On Fire and Tribulation on this year’s Decibel Magazine Tour – officially welcomes Adam Clemans (Wolvhammer) as the band's new vocalist.
Last month, the group recorded a new EP (due to be released this summer) with Clemans at Baltimore’s Developing Nations alongside producer Kevin Bernsten (Magrudergrind, Noisem, Mutilation Rites). A brief teaser of new music can be heard in the below video, in which Clemans discusses how he came to join the band.
“I’m very proud to be a part of the Skeletonwitch amp, and I’m very excited about how the new EP turned out,” says Clemans. “Working with like-minded musicians is always a pleasure, and I’m confident that the new chapter of this band will carry the Skeletonwitch banner properly and proudly.”
Adds guitarist Scott Hedrick, “We are extremely excited to announce Adam as the new singer for Skeletonwitch. He’s a killer vocalist, lyricist, and all-around creative force. Please welcome him to the Skeletonwitch family as we begin this new chapter. As always, thanks to everyone who has, and continues to, support us.” More...

"Definitely going to have some embarrassing ‘fan moments’ on this one. Just ask Matt Pike – as an overly excited teenager, I punished him with a game of 20 Questions when I saw them on their first U.S. tour. He still regrets giving me his phone number! New tunes, new singer, new tour, new chapter for Skeletonwitch. Looking forward to seeing you all out on the road.” More...

Skeletonwitch has proven time and time again that mixing killer tunes with an unshakeable work ethic remains the key to metal success. The group will soon support 2013 release “Serpents Unleashed” with its most extensive European tour to date.
The Midwestern blackened metal troopers will return to The Old Continent in April to appear at several of the spring’s heaviest festivals (Inferno, Roadburn) in addition to headlining 26 shows across Western Europe with support from Goatwhore and Mortals. From there, Skeletonwitch will pillage its way across Eastern Europe and headline dates in Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Slovakia and Greece. A full list of dates appears below.
Skeletonwitch has also begun writing material for a new album, expected to be released later this year. Guitarist Scott Hedrick commented: “After we return from melting faces in Europe, our entire focus will be on writing a new album. We have a mountain of riffs and ideas that will be carved into epic tunes. Excited to get started!” More...

Goatwhore comments: "After being part of a really successful European and U.K. tour with Dying Fetus, Malevolence and Fallujah for the last 6 weeks, I am really stoked to be returning in April with our good friends in Skeletonwitch & Mortals to offer another dose of extreme metal to our European and UK fans.
"This will be a crushing experience to all that attend. We would like to thank everyone that attended the shows in November & December. See you in 2015!" More...
Bassist Jonathan Athon from Black Tusk passed away this weekend after being in a motorcycle crash, and since then many bands from across the metal community have commented on how Athon impacted their lives.
Skeletonwitch shared this story about Black Tusk:
"Many years ago we left Ohio, bound for Savannah, GA, to tour with some new friends in a band called Black Tusk. In a now legendary move (that we will never let him forget) Andrew from Black Tusk booked the shows on the wrong calendar year! This resulted in about 5 days off in a row while things got sorted out.
"Andrew, James, and Athon rolled out the red carpet (and about 500 beers) and let us move in to 'Black Tusk Manor' for those 5 days. We've been family ever since.
"Yesterday we lost a brother. Athon, we miss you. We will carry your music and the many, many, memories with us forever. Our thoughts are with Andrew, James, Athon's family, and the entire creative community in Savannah, where Jonathan Athon will be sorely missed." More...
In addition to the upcoming Attila show at Fort Lauderdale’s Revolution Live on Friday, November 14th (supported by Crown The Empire and Like Moths To Flames), we at the MetalUnderground.com Official Podcast are now staging another ticket giveaway contest through the same venue: The Ghost Inside (supported by Every Time I Die and Architects) on Sunday, November 30th. This week, we’re proud to present music from Boston, Massachusetts all-purpose metal act Skull Hammer, a formidable “power trio” that incorporates all forms of classic metal from hard rock to power metal, from speed metal to thrash. The band released the EP “Fear The Truth” in 2008 and the full-length “Pay It In Blood” in 2010, and are currently preparing a second album.
Skeletonwitch's Chance Garnette will be sitting out the remaining dates on the band's current tour, meaning the group is now performing as an instrumental four piece. Skeletonwitch issued this statement about the situation:
"Lately there have been a lot of rumors, speculation, and assumptions, regarding Skeletonwitch. We want to set the record straight.
"Unfortunately, Chance is unable to finish out the tour as he has some serious personal matters to attend to. We ask you to respect his and our privacy regarding these matters.
"This obviously left us with a very difficult decision to make and we've decided to finish out the tour as a 4-piece.
"We made the assumption that Skeletonwitch fans attending the shows would rather see 4 of us ripping through our songs, than a piece of paper on the door announcing our cancellation. If the first 2 shows were any indication, we assumed correctly.
"You have our sincerest apologies for not being able to bring you the full show, and for canceling the stop in Albany.
"We thank everyone for their understanding and their support now and in the future.
"Please come out to the remaining shows for riffs, beers, and hi-fives with us. At the risk of sounding too sentimental, music is equally important, if not more so, during rough times as well as the good.
"Skeletonwitch is not going anywhere. See you soon." More...
Red 7 held the concert in their outside stage, which due to the previous days storms, we were wondering if we would be rained out. As if the gods were fans of this tour, there was no raining on September 20. However, the rain did leave a muggy residue that was heated even further by packed crowd. Being on a Saturday certainly helped nudge area metal heads to get downtown, as did the lineup itself. Ghoul probably brought in the most fans, as evidenced by all the Municipal Waste and other crossover shirts and hats. Skeletonwitch shirts were also in abundance. Black Anvil was a nice complement to Ghoul and Skeletonwitch.
Locals, Sore put the night in motion. Their sludgy sounds added another distinct flavor to the three tour bands who possessed unique styles in their own rights. Fronted by ex-The Roller vocalist Mike Morowitz, Sore’s sound was akin to tearing away a sore from one’s flesh. It was abrasive and loud and divergent in tempo. Stomping doomy grooves saw bodies beginning to warm up. Faster grind seemed too caustic and it was too early in the evening to start a pit. But people took notice. More...
After announcing the confirmation of Svartidaudi, Ivar Bjørnson (Enslaved) and Wardruna’s Einar “Kvitrafn” Selvik continue to hand pick bands for the upcoming 2015 edition of the Roadburn Festival.
Still riding waves of acclaim for new EP “Days of The Fallen Sun,” Brooklyn's Junius is excited to announce it's participation in 2015's Roadburn Festival during the Houses of the Holistic event.
Bjørnson commented on the announcement: “One of the highlights of the preparatory curator phase was the moment when I realized we could invite Junius. I got their new EP and man, this band just keeps getting better. We toured with them in the U.S. back in 2011. I really dug their albums before the tour, but seeing them live the first night was immense! I got seriously (!) into them after between one and two seconds of the first song. That’s where I still am. If you don’t know this band, do yourself a favor and check them out. Heavy, groovy and dreamy music!”
Junius guitarist Michael Repasch-Nieves added, “Meeting and touring with Enslaved in 2011 was a highlight of our recent years on the road. We were so honored to be invited by Ivar to perform at this special 20th edition of Roadburn and are very excited to reunite with our brothers from the North!” More...
Skeletonwitch has released a new music video for “Unending, Everliving,” which can be seen below and comes from the band's 2013 album "Serpents Unleashed."
"Undending, Everliving" was put to film by Cleveland, Ohio’s Turnstyle Films, with whom the band also collaborated on the promo clips for “I Am Of Death (Hell Has Arrived)” and “Serpents Unleashed.”
Skeletonwitch guitarist Nate “N8 Feet Under” Garnette says, ”This video was a hell of a lot of fun to shoot and is saturated with fake blood — or is it? — as well as torture. My favorite part was getting to hose off a bloody-ass Chance (Garnette, vocals) with freezing cold water. I normally would have gotten beaten up for that, so it was a nice treat. Enjoy!” More...
Skeletonwitch will release the first-ever picture disc pressing of “Breathing The Fire” on August 5th.
Featuring vibrant artwork completed by Andrei Bouzikov (Municipal Waste, Toxic Holocaust) and limited to only 500 copies worldwide, the LP can now be pre-ordered bundled with an exclusive t-shirt or long-sleeved shirt from the Prosthetic webshop here.
"Breathing The Fire," Skeletonwitch's second album for Prosthetic, and third overall, proved to be the necessary stepping stone to bring the five-piece Ohio-based heavy metal ritualists to the forefront of the scene.
The group’s first recording featuring bassist Evan Linger was produced by Jack Endino (Nirvana, High On Fire, 3 Inches of Blood) and also marked the band's first-ever foray onto Billboard’s Top 200.
Skeltonwitch is currently flying overseas for a three-week European tour, which will see the band perform with Suffocation and Havok and appear at select festivals. Full dates can be found below. Prior to departing for the trek, the band stopped by Turnstyle Films in Cleveland to record a new music video for “Unending, Everliving,” a song from most recent effort "Serpents Unleashed." Stay tuned for more information on the video. More...
Hide your children... and your dog. The masked miscreants in Ghoul are coming back to seize your soul and all your worldly possessions on another run of live assaults this Fall.
Slated to commence on September 5th in Chicago, the band will reduce seventeen municipalities to rubble and snicker at the aftermath. Ghoul will be supporting blackened thrash headliners Skeletonwitch and black metal tyrants Black Anvil.
Comments the band from its lair: "Ghoul is very excited to come back to your inbred, bullet-riddled country, and engage in the wholesale slaughter of some of your society's least desirable high school students; that is, if there are any still alive when we get there. To have the honor of doing so with the likes of Skeletonwitch and Black Anvil is really the death icing on the murder cake. Forward into carnage!" More...
