A harbinger of the apocalypse – where death and darkness unite in an invincible alliance. An epic masterpiece! Centre stage as a shining angel amongst the pitch-black chaos is former Deadlock singer Sabine Scherer.

The band commented: "A few weeks ago, we had to cancel our 25th-anniversary show due to the pandemic. Sadly, it’s still very difficult to play shows in closed rooms in Germany. But since our fans can’t come to us, we must find a way to go to them. For weeks we have been working on 'The March For Freedom' - a very special and absolutely unique Reiter show. We will of course be playing some of our classics, but also some songs from our new album Wilde Kinder, that have never been played live before. The show will start on Sunday, May 1st, and will be available online for one week. So, if you’re alone or have some friends around if you’re sitting on your couch or watching on your phone from somewhere else – we will come to you. We’re so excited already!"

Die Apokalyptischen Reiter Announces New Album
Germany’s most spectacular band is Weimar’s Die Apokalyptischen Reiter. The band whose name translates as “Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse”, has proven to deliver a unique brand of melodic heaviness, accompanied by unique, intense lyrics. Since forming back in 1995, Die Apokalyptischen Reiter has remained innovative and courageous, delivering a form of extreme metal that is second to none. In the artistic realm of the Weimar-based quartet, there are no rules - anarchy, a free flow of ideas and visions reign supreme.
With a highly supportive and engaged following at their side, they achieved #10 in Germany’s official charts with their album Der Rote Reiter. The band has played every major metal festival and countless fans have succumbed to "Reitermania" – which is the wild and crazy experience that only Die Apokalyptischen Reiter can provide.
Now, the band is getting ready to release "Wilde Kinder" (=“Wild Children”), their new album due out on April 22, 2022 - the official successor to "Der Rote Reiter" (2017).
In addition to this big announcement, the band have also released a music video for the title track of the album, "Wilde Kinder."
Entirely self-recorded, and mixed and mastered by Eike Freese (Chameleon Studios, Hamburg; who worked for bands like Helloween, Deep Purple, Alice Cooper), Die Apokalyptischen Reiter celebrate a stunning return after their completely improvised Jam Session record "The Divine Horsemen" (2021), and attack with Volle Kraft! (= full power!). More...

Die Apokalyptischen Reiter Reveals New Album Info
In celebration of their 25th anniversary, Germany's Die Apokalyptischen Reiter have prepared a truly special release with The Divine Horsemen - a unique musical experiment: A session that has been recorded without any rehearsals or preparations during two days in autumn 2020.
The band, the engineers, and a couple of friends locked themselves up in a rehearsal space and taped 500 minutes of improvised musical magic spanning anything from eruptive grind to tribal metal not unlike Roots by Sepultura as well as psychedelic, trippy pieces and even nods to black metal (Nachtblume, Ymir). The material has been filtered into an 80-minute long double vinyl / 2CD release and produced by Alexander Dietz from Heaven Shall Burn, and offers a stunning, captivating journey through a myriad of sounds and styles. Adding a variety of effects and instruments like the didgeridoo, djembe, Doumbek, gong, frame drums, jaw harp to the quintet’s sonic arsenal and combining it with improvised, multilingual vocals The Divine Horsemen is in essence also a tribute to a variety of cultures and influences.
New video for one of the rituals, “Tiki”, is streaming below.
On July 2, 2021, Nuclear Blast will release “The Divine Horsemen” physically as strictly limited double LP with 32-page LP booklet featuring illustrations for each track crafted by vocalist Fuchs, as limited 2CD with 36-page booklet and on all digital platforms. In line with the uniqueness of this recording, the physical formats will only be available once. Preorder options available here.
Die Apokalyptischen Reiter comment on the release:
"It's been more than ten years since, on a boozy campfire night in South Tirol, the genie of the 'two-day record sprung out of the bottle for the first time. In the year 2020, our 25th anniversary as a band, we have gifted ourselves with it. Five friends making music together, letting themselves go, reveling in the past and experimenting without limitations. Without rehearsal, composition or reflection: music in its most primordial form, only intended for the moment. Are we still able to be the small, wild boys of the past, who have become men with a history by now? Can we destroy and resurrect ourselves within just a few hours? Just like old times when we didn't know anything about music, and there wasn't any right or wrong, no good nor evil. The star was to explode! We wish you a pleasant journey! Happy birthday to us!" 70000 Tons Of Metal: Day Two
After a superb first day aboard the Independence Of The Seas, it was time for another long day of seeing and meeting some of the most revered bands in metal. There's worse ways of spending a long weekend I suppose...
A late night and jet lag meant sleeping in longer than expected and missing out on the first few bands, though I was up and fed in time to head to the pool deck for the first time and check out one of the greatest names in British death metal, Benediction. While some may onky recognise them as the group Barney Greenway fronted before joining Napalm Death, the Birmingham based bruisers have had a long career with some outstanding music under their belts and it's fair to say that a live setting is the best place to sample it. There's no frills and no pretentiousness about Benediction, they're working class English guys who play old school, thrash inspired death metal and they do it wonderfully. I imagine Benediction to thrive in a small venue, which makes an outdoor venue with thousands of potential crowd members something of a risk, as not all bands used to intimate stages can work on a bigger setting. I'm pleased to report however, that Benediction don't have this problem. Those in attendance were treated to a blistering performance, which no doubt won over those who are put off by the poor production of their earlier work and delighted fans and curious parties. A great way to kick off the day. More...
