Subway To Sally To Release New Album In December
Rumored to be finished, Subway To Sally, the German grandmasters of folk metal, prove they are very much alive with their 15th studio album! Post Mortem, set for release on December 20, 2024 via Napalm Records, arrives not even two years after their 2023 predecessor, Himmelfahrt, was secretly intended to be the final album of their over 30-year career.
In hindsight, this explains the symbolic title. However, things turned out differently. Subway To Sally had clearly struck a chord with their music, as fan and critic reactions to "Himmelfahrt" were overwhelmingly positive. Following a nearly sold-out tour, it became clear that the 14th album was not the final chapter. The release of "Himmelfahrt" unleashed an untamable lightness and energy that ignited their creativity so strongly that Subway To Sally now stand ready to unveil their brand-new masterpiece, "Post Mortem," created in the fastest production process in the band’s history.
Subway To Sally comment:
"The world around us is still in flux. The prevailing feeling is that nothing is getting better; on the contrary, it seems to be getting worse. The 'Black Death' is over, but the long-awaited Freedom Day after COVID never came. Instead, one problem seems to replace the next. We are living in times of grand failure. Everything swings between darkness and euphoria. People long for distraction, for forgetting, for celebration and freedom – even if only for a moment.
In our music, we address the desires and fears of people, but also their hopes and dreams. In a time when the world seems to be falling apart, we want to be a constant – a voice of authenticity and humanity amidst the turbulence of life." More...

Subway To Sally Unveils New Music Video
With their 14th studio album "Himmelfahrt," Subway To Sally presents a new beginning and departure. The German folk rock pioneers unveils their new album on March 24, 2023 via Napalm Records, celebrating hope and life together with their fans!
The fourth single from the new album, "Weit Ist Das Meer" (The Sea is wide) underlines the album's general mood and inspires hope, while spreading desire and depth. The lyrics focus on maritime topics, while musically, it is the most quiet and soulful of the previously released singles, highlighting Eric Fish's haunting voice.
Subway To Sally on the new album:
"The new album marks a turning point. 'Himmelfahrt' represents the ending and a new beginning at the same time. The work on the songs for 'Himmelfahrt' began long before Corona, shortly after the release of the last album HEY!. This album addressed a broken world, the destructive treatment of people with their own kind and the environment in which they live. As the pandemic hit the world, most of the album seemed prophetic and depressing. All the material created up to that point had to be put to the test and was disposed of as outmoded." More...
Subway To Sally To Release New Album In March
Almost four long years have passed since the pioneers of German folk rock, Subway To Sally, released their last album "HEY!." Now they return with their 14th studio album, "Himmelfahrt" (eng. Ascension), out March 24, 2023 via Napalm Records. The brand new album marks a turning point in the discography of the band: since the beginning of their promising career, the musicians gave the darkest abysses of human soul a spotlight – but now, they surprise fans with the total opposite. For the first time in over 30 years of their band history, the musicians celebrate hope!
With first single "Was ihr wollt" (Engl. What you want), the folk rock trailblazers criticize the principle of reciprocity, but above that, they also give a first taste of their new sonic realms. Including catchy rhythms and rousing electronic beats, a haunting atmosphere is created and sticks with the listener. Furthermore, the album opener is accompanied by a visually stunning official music video. More...
Subway To Sally Posts New Live Video Online
Subway To Sally has released the second video from their new live Blu-Ray, "Eisheilige Nacht - Back To Lindenpark." This special, intimate version of the fan-favorite "Kleid aus Rosen" (EN: Dress of Roses) offers an absolute world premiere: Ally Storch, as well as Saskia and Birgit from Schandmaul, intonate the legendary three-part polyphony at the beginning of the song for the first time ever live.
This version of "Kleid aus Rosen" stands for what "Eisheilige Nacht - Back To Lindenpark" is all about: an intimate setting, special guests and unique production.
Bodenski on "Kleid aus Rosen":
"There are lyrics that you write in one ride. I can still remember exactly how I put this story on paper. In my mind's eye I saw a balladeer standing in the marketplace with a display board and telling his audience this gruesome story, perhaps as a lesson and warning for young girls.
"I actually believed at the time that the lyrics would not be suitable for Subway To Sally. I was so wrong. When I heard Ingo's brilliant composition to this text, I was thrilled. It is rightly one of our most popular songs. Everything about this song is just right. In the studio, Sigrid Hausen, better known as Syrah, helped us to sing the three-part intro. Until the Eisheilige Nacht Online, this intro was always recorded. It was a special experience for us to hear it live for the first time!" More...
Subway To Sally Uploads New Live Video
When two greats of the German folk rock and medieval scene get together, there’s nothing but magic taking place - not even a prevailing pandemic can change that! Today, Subway To Sally drop their captivating performance of the Saltatio Mortis hit "IX," cut from the band’s upcoming, unique Blu-Ray/DVD/CD highlight, "Eisheilige Nacht - Back to Lindenpark," out June 18, 2021 via Napalm Records.
The original song can be found on the Saltatio Mortis full-length "Das Schwarze Einmaleins" (2013) and is now captured for eternity, presented by both bands as an exclusive version on "Eisheilige Nacht - Back to Lindenpark."
Subway To Sally add:
"We covered ‘IX’ and put it into our very own Subway To Sally version. Our long-time companions from Saltatio Mortis wanted us to cover the song for a bonus CD that’s part of their album 'Zirkus Zeitgeist' (2015). Within a short time, the track became very popular amongst our fans and even pushed a few of our classics out of our streaming top 5 temporarily. After a joint tour playing the track together with Saltatio Mortis, we enjoyed it so much that we decided to keep it in our regular live set for some time. Or in other words: a Saltatio Mortis cover version became part of the Subway To Sally set! I don't think there can be a better alliance within our scene and so we were really looking forward to performing the song again with our friends at Eisheilige Nacht - Back to Lindenpark." More...

Subway To Sally Signs With Napalm Records
Chart-breaking, cult-followed German band Subway To Sally, featuring remarkable singer Eric Fish and exceptional violinist Ally Storch, have now signed a worldwide record deal with Austrian metal institution Napalm Records.
Since their foundation in the early 1990s, Subway To Sally have established themselves as an integral part of the scene and convince with their unerring symbiosis of folk, heavy metal and rock. The band's earlier full-lengths were mainly characterized by bagpipes, flutes and harmonizing acoustic guitar lines. Throughout their successful career, they have increasingly added harsh metal fragments to their music – thus Subway To Sally have shaped their expressive trademark sound and have taken the charts by storm. With 13 successful studio albums (DE #4, AT #17 and many more), eight explosive live records and countless impressive live gigs – Subway To Sally are now ready to enter a new chapter with Napalm Records.
Subway To Sally on the signing: "We are very much looking forward to working with Napalm Records and especially to our new album, which will be released in 2021. Especially in the current times it is important to have a reliable partner at your side. That's why we deliberately chose Napalm and signed our first, classic record deal after almost ten years of independence!"
Thomas Caser, Managing Director Napalm Records, states: "We are very happy to welcome Subway To Sally - one of the most influential German bands and pioneers of a whole genre - to the Napalm Records family! With the full extent of our Napalm Records-power we will do everything to continue the band's story of success."
