Slayer Adds Extra "American Carnage" Tour Date

Apparently, twenty-five cities just wasn't enough for Megadeth and Slayer on their upcoming "American Carnage" North American tour which kicks off on January 18 in Seattle. The co-headliners announced today that one more date has been added to the itinerary - the bands will play Glens Falls Civic Center in Glens Falls, New York on February 12.

Yesterday, Slayer and Megadeth announced that they will tour the U.S. together for the first time in nearly two decades, with Testament as special guest. The now 26-date trek will include the six "Canadian Carnage" dates that had been postponed earlier this month due to Slayer vocalist/bassist Tom Araya's back problem. According to Slayer's manager, Rick Sales, "Tom continues to recover and is improving more and more every day, so I think by the time January 18 rolls around, he'll be ready for some carnage."

Confirmed dates for the "American Carnage" tour are as follows: More...

Slayer, Megadeth To Co-Headline "American Carnage"

Megadeth and Slayer will join forces to co-headline "American Carnage" across North America this winter. "American Carnage" will kick off on January 18 in Seattle, WA for a 26-date trek across North America that will include the six Canadian dates postponed earlier this month. Tickets for most shows go on sale this Friday, November 20. Ticketmaster is offering a special presage for most shows from Wednesday, November 18 at 10AM until Thursday, November 19 at 10PM.

"American Carnage" is the first time that Slayer and Megadeth will have toured the U.S. together since 1991's epic "Clash of the Titans" tour. To celebrate that, and in recognition of the tough economic times that many of their fans are having, Megadeth and Slayer have decided to roll back the price of a chunk of tickets at every U.S. show to the "1991 price" of $10.00. These specially-priced tickets will be limited and when they're gone, they're gone. Megadeth has also teamed with iloveallaccess.com to provide an Ultimate Fan Package including premium seats, meet and greets, pre-show parties and more.

In addition, Testament, who was also on the '91 "Clash of the Titans" bill, will be special guests on the entire tour, marking the first time that all three bands have shared a stage together in more than 18 years, and making this a "must see" metal event.

Both Megadeth and Slayer will hit the road supporting new albums: Megadeth's 2009 album, "Endgame," and Slayer's "World Painted Blood," the band's 10th studio venture, which hit stores November 3. Testament's "The Formation of Damnation: Special Tour Edition," will be released on February 23, 2010 with special unreleased bonus tracks.

Slayer and Megadeth have already massacred territories together outside of the U.S., first with four explosive dates in June 2009 across Western Canada - "Canadian Carnage" - marking the first time the bands had shared a stage anywhere in 18 years; and then six co-headlining "Carnage" dates in Australia followed in October.

Slayer and Megadeth are also rescheduling the east coast leg of the "Canadian Carnage" tour, postponed from this fall.

Paul Bostaph To Join Hail! On Tour

Hail! has announced that drummer Paul Bostaph (Slayer, Testament) will be accompanying them for their upcoming tour dates in November and December. Bostaph will be joining bassist David Ellefson, singer Ripper Owens (former JUDAS PRIEST, current YNGWIE MALMSTEEN) and guitarist Andreas Kisser (SEPULTURA).

Asked how Paul Bostaph came to play with Hail!, Ellefson replied “After Jimmy DeGrasso became unavailable due to his touring commitments with Alice Cooper, Roy Mayorga came aboard and just slammed for us. His playing throughout the Scandinavian dates was unbelievable, but now he’s heading back into the studio with Stone Sour, so he’s unavailable for the next round of shows. We immediately thought of Paul. With Alex Skolnik out playing with Trans-Siberian Orchestra a small window opened in the Testament schedule where Paul became available and we jumped at the opportunity.”

Kisser chimed in, “Come on, he’s Paul Bostaph! Think about it, he’s played with three of the greatest thrash bands of all-time, Slayer, Testament, and Exodus. What symbolizes more of the spirit of HAIL! then that?! It’s an honor to play with him."

Ripper continued, “Our goal is to make every HAIL! show a special once-in-a-lifetime event. We strive to make every show different and no two shows have been the same. Look at our set lists on this last run, we must have played 15-20 new songs and half of them we never even rehearsed! I even played a guitar solo one night! We had guest jams with friends from DIMMU BORGIR, MERCYFUL FATE, GORGOROTH, MESHUGGAH, DRAIN S.T.H., KING DIAMOND and we want every fan to know that what they experience at a HAIL! concert will never happen again. We will continue to keep it fresh and exciting and playing with Paul will certainly do that.”

Bostaph shared his excitement, “To play with Tim, Andreas and Dave? Talk about an honor, these guys are metal gods! I thought it was super cool when I first heard about HAIL! and what they were doing. Now to be a part of it is amazing. I’m really looking forward to it and can’t wait.”

The exact tour dates with Bostaph will be announced shortly.

Ex-Anthrax Singer Forms New Band With Paul Bostaph

In a recent interview with The Metal Den's Randy "Rocket" Cody, former Anthrax lead singer Dan Nelson revealed that he has two new projects underway, including one with current Testament drummer Paul Bostaph, who was also a founding member of Forbidden, long time drummer for Slayer and former member of Exodus. Some excerpts from the interview are as follows:

Rocket: You told me you’re now working on a new musical project. Is it going to be a solo Dan Nelson effort? Or with a new band entirely?

Nelson: "I have been writing my own music. But I am singing and playing guitar in the band Inside Hollow, as well as working on a new metal project with (drummer) Paul Bostaph (Testament, Slayer, Exodus, Forbidden) that is coming out killer! Where is it being recorded and who is producing it? No set studios or producers just yet. We are still in the writing process with both bands."

Rocket: When can fans expect to see it released?

Nelson: "I would say definitely 2010 for Inside Hollow, and hopefully the same for the other project."

Thrash Metal's "Big Four" To Tour?

According to Slayer guitarist Kerry King, a dream tour featuring Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax could well be in the works. Speaking to Britain's Metal Hammer magazine, King stated:

“I’ve heard people referencing Lars. I don’t know Lars that well and I haven’t heard it from Lars but apparently he’s talking to somebody about it. Maybe us, Metallica, Megadeth (and), I think he even threw in Anthrax and I said in this day and age, I know we had that time together but how do you leave out Machine Head? There’s better options than Anthrax and that’s nothing against Anthrax, but they’ve just been in pieces for quite some time and that doesn’t make as much sense to me."

The closest the world has got to having the "Big Four" tour together came in 1991 when Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax were joined on tour by the up and coming Alice In Chains, who stepped in for Bay Area thrashers Death Angel, on the Clash Of The Titans tour. The tour also went to Europe where Megadeth and Slayer performed without Anthrax and Alice In Chains but with Suicidal Tendencies and Testament.
