Slayer, Megadeth To Co-Headline "American Carnage" Tour with Testament as Special Guests
Band Photo: Slayer
Megadeth and Slayer will join forces to co-headline "American Carnage" across North America this winter. "American Carnage" will kick off on January 18 in Seattle, WA for a 26-date trek across North America that will include the six Canadian dates postponed earlier this month. Tickets for most shows go on sale this Friday, November 20. Ticketmaster is offering a special presage for most shows from Wednesday, November 18 at 10AM until Thursday, November 19 at 10PM.
"American Carnage" is the first time that Slayer and Megadeth will have toured the U.S. together since 1991's epic "Clash of the Titans" tour. To celebrate that, and in recognition of the tough economic times that many of their fans are having, Megadeth and Slayer have decided to roll back the price of a chunk of tickets at every U.S. show to the "1991 price" of $10.00. These specially-priced tickets will be limited and when they're gone, they're gone. Megadeth has also teamed with iloveallaccess.com to provide an Ultimate Fan Package including premium seats, meet and greets, pre-show parties and more.
In addition, Testament, who was also on the '91 "Clash of the Titans" bill, will be special guests on the entire tour, marking the first time that all three bands have shared a stage together in more than 18 years, and making this a "must see" metal event.
Both Megadeth and Slayer will hit the road supporting new albums: Megadeth's 2009 album, "Endgame," and Slayer's "World Painted Blood," the band's 10th studio venture, which hit stores November 3. Testament's "The Formation of Damnation: Special Tour Edition," will be released on February 23, 2010 with special unreleased bonus tracks.
Slayer and Megadeth have already massacred territories together outside of the U.S., first with four explosive dates in June 2009 across Western Canada - "Canadian Carnage" - marking the first time the bands had shared a stage anywhere in 18 years; and then six co-headlining "Carnage" dates in Australia followed in October.
Slayer and Megadeth are also rescheduling the east coast leg of the "Canadian Carnage" tour, postponed from this fall.

"Thank god Metallica isn't on this tour... We get a full night of genuine metal that isn't 20 years old and overplayed!"
....All of three bands have been around close to 20 years, I'll agree with the over played part, but isn't that the best era of Metallica??
You should've stopped after your first statement. Personally I'd rather have Metallica there instead of Megadeth, but good tour none the less.
This is a f***in omen or whatever. I just saw Megadeth rip it up last night with Machine Head and Suicide Silence, and now this. It seems that Kerry King and Dave Mustaine are starting to bury the hatchet a little bit which is great, if only Vinnie Paul and Phil Anselmo would do the same. Can't wait for February 5th in Chicago. Hopefully there's no one else playing so that all three bands gets a long setlist. STAY METAL MY FRIENDS!
to noj - i hate when people say that. Camden is NOT considered in PA, and none of its venues are either. Bands just always say "Whats up Jersey and Philly!" because they know there's a lot of philly people there considering you can see the city over the water from the stage and the lawn. Thats like saying "Oh i was at the Slayer show in Camden last night...i stood on a boat dock in Philly with binoculars and watched it!" Just because you can see something in the distance over a river, doesn't mean your there. Anyway, can't wait for this tour to come to Jersey. I'm there February 13th!
What? This aint the first time Megadeth and Slayer have played together in almost 2 decades! They've done had at least 2 tours together already! Anyway, its still cool to see that the two bands are still "friends," honestly I'm surprised it's lasted this long! lml
Wow, that's a looong time not seeing "each" other since 1991: Each legendary Metal band the Monster SLAYER (their singer has a "nice-sweet face" & hope his back injury is healing properly..'when they hit the stage well not so sweet anymore..'smile), MEGADETH and TESTAMENT "all" have some serious music History. Wish them well on the "Americian Carnage-Tour" ready to jet set/take off in mid Janurary 2010!!! Have a great/safe time and don't drive one another insane. Peace!
All you metallica haters, if they were on this bill they d be selling out football stadiums instead of basketball arenas, only about a 40,000 seat plus differance so give them some credit......for some reason this tour doesnt do it for me..i mean slayer hell ya but megacrap meh, testament okay, gonna need a couple more bands for me to even consider hijacking my wifes credit card to charge for tixs
Bruno i just believe in giving a band there due..metallica on this bill would have been one of the greatest shows, and they draw 10 times what these bands would anyday..like i say many times i dont luv metallica i just respect what theyve done for metal and they are still the #1 metal draw like it or not....jesus bruno, you still bent at the angels gettin bounced by the yanks or what? You sound bent, or are you on your 2nd pot of coffee already this morning?....none the less get some of that hostility out when you hit the LB show, take out a couple LA county people in the pit and represent the OC proudly....have a good day sir
RTB- What's wrong with U2, just trying to give a band their due :)
Sometimes on those posts, without hearing tone of voice, the message gets lost in translation. I was totally jokin' around dude. No hostility, just jokes and jokes and jokes and...spaghetti, spaghetti....8 MILE!
Ofcourse Metallica is gonna sell more tickets .. But so does Prince .. TOP 40 Sell Out CRap!!! Slayer sticks to its roots never forgetting its older fans just to make a dollar !!
freakin Posers always have to bring Metallica into every conversation.. even when the subject has nothing to do with them .. Hey !! why not go see Duran Duran ?? Im sure they sell more tickets than Metal.. Us Metal HeaDS WILL BE AT SLAYER!!!
they need to take back the canadian dates and turn those into some good american ones...didnt canada already have their carnage tour??? and for $10 i dont give a sh** where they play...carpool with some naked lesbians and use the rest of the money you wouldve spent on tix for gas condoms and BOOZE!!!!
concerning post 51
I was proud to have planned my vacation around flying to Calgary & seein Megadeth & Slayer & Machine Head on the 1st leg of the Canadian Carnage tour in July.
After the tour finished its run of western Canada they had a bunch of eastern canadian dates that were set for November, which had to be cancelled due to I believe it was Tom needing emergency back surgery, so all those Canadian dates are just the rescheduled dates of the previous tour.
Camden is considered part of the philadelphia market, just like East rutherford nj and all of long island is considered the NYC market
so (whoever is sponsoring it)center in camden is the defacto philly show
and the brendan byrne continental airlines izod center arena is the defacto nyc show.
get on a bus and quit whining.
f*** yeah SLAYER Megadeth I dnt knwabout testament theys alright were the f*** is cannibal corpse at.T Thats what i want to see f***en Carnage , Oh thats right there on tour with weak a$$ p***y bands like trivuime who the f*** is that and there probably gonna go on tour with average 7fold lame Cannibal WHY Cannibal Why what happen to Overkill or exodus to add i would have taken an average round up Athraxs also guess we cant be picky.
"Thank god Metallica isn't on this tour... We get a full night of genuine metal that isn't 20 years old and overplayed!"
Since when has Metallica and Megadeth ever toured together? Never and they never will. If you knew your metal history at all you'd know Dave Mustaine was kicked out of Metallica before they made it big. This fact is like common sense for any core Metallica or Megadeth fan.
"Personally I'd rather have Metallica there instead of Megadeth, but good tour none the less."
Ah, the topic of Metallica vs. Megadeth. Most people are one sided and say one is better then the other. I like to be analytical. Personally, as a band I think Metallica plays better music, preferably Kill em All to And Justice for all. They pretty much saved and revolutionized metal in the 80's. But what most people fail to realize is that Dave Mustaine help co-write songs on Kill Em All and even created some of the riffs in Ride the Lightning and even Master of puppets. He had a huge part in Metallica and personally I don't think Metallica would sound the way they do if it wasn't for Mustaine, preferably in there early albums. So when I hear people say Metallica is better then Megadeth, I half-way agree, Metallica has made better music then Mustaine, but in my opinion Mustaine IS Metallica. So it's almost contradicting saying Metallica is better then Megadeth. Megadeth has always been considered as the band "who's trying to play like Metallica and be better then them". Over all Metallica's music is better then Megadeth but as of today, personally I think Megadeth is in the lead. When you compare St. Anger/Death Magnetic to United Abominations/End Game, Megadeth clearly in my opinion is becoming the better band.
I stand corrected, they did share the stage in the 90's. Which is crazy after hearing videos of what Dave Mustaine has to say about Metallica. Probably will never happen again and if it does I'll be there in a heartbeat since there my 2 top favorite bands of all time. Anyways this tour sounds like it will be great for any metal fan. I'm just now workin my way into the "Death Metal" scene so being able to tolerate the vocals of Slayer will make this concert even more better. Always been a big fan of Megadeth and this will be the 2nd time I'll see em in concert. I just wanna know the meaning of this "Co-Headline". Be interesting to know who's gonna play last, or if they're gonna switch off at different venues. Would be pretty epic if they shared the stage switching off songs or even more epic, play each others. I'm guessing that this won't happen, lol.
and what other people fail to realize is we know the history of metallica and megadave (sorry blindgreed i love it) more than we know our own history...why break it down anymore and shame on you for having to tolerate arayas vox!!! really though if you have a hard time getting into the vox try this little thing i used to help people get over their fear of araya..(i swear this works) ok start off with 1.) dead skin mask 2.) Disciple 3.) bloodline 4.) Fleshstorm 5.) seasons in the abyss.... i know these re not the best ones to the diehards but i swear on my sweet a$$ schecter c-7 hellraiser these will help the pain and in 2-3 days you should be a slayer fan ready and willing to listen to every slayer album all the way through.. if that doesnt work you can always shoot yourself if the face then slayer wont seem so bad but remeber to have fun!!!! *disclaimer* supastan is not a real doctor and is not responsible for well just isnt resonsible at all any advice taken from supastan is your own damn fault shooting ones self in the face will probably make slayer worse for you because you dont have a face and tom is still screaming at you and you cant find the stop button...
And yes i knew that Lombardo has been back with Slayer for a longtime .. But to be honest i never really cared for Megadeth!! Ive been Metal since 1985 !! Dont get me wrong The musicianship has always been great..
Dave just sounds like Popeye to me .. It seemed like there where so many more great Thrash bands back than that i kinda swept the whole Megadeth Bandwagon thing under the carpet ..

So what!? TESTAMENT is on the bill, way more interesting, together with Slayer and Exodus one of the few bands who stayed tru to their roots and to their original fans who helped them get so far in the first place. f*** metallica. (although i think their first 4 albums are incredible and I still listen to them with much pleasure)
Enough about Metallica !!! They have nothing to do with this topic !! Ofcourse they sell more tickets !! And They hung up the Metal Axe a longtime ago to do so..
They comprimized theyre roots so that they would appeal to a larger TOP 40 UN-METAL audience!! Now go back to metal school and learn somthing from SLAYER !!!
and please SHUT UP!!!
Zombie chuck doin a Death's greatest hits set, zombies euronymous and dead doin De Mysteriis in its entirety, Zombie quorthorn doin his first 3 records, zombie dimebag playin EVERYTHING HE EVER WROTE.... The extreme metal zombie tour would be pretty fuggin metal!! With the zombie les paul jammin out at a nearby blues/jazz lounge club for the olds. sounds pretty sweet to me. Its a nice dream, ain't it?
im really fvcking tired of the METALLICA argument of wether or not. i worked as a roddie during the world magnetic tour. 'tallica doesnt choose the ticket price the production company does. and METALLICA NEVER NEVER NEVER EVER sold out. the albums ppl say they sold out with had the worst sells. BUT!! i digress
89"f**k metallica but i think their first 4 albums are incredible"......when you say to someone or something is f*** you dont counter with a comment proping them up for anything, it hippocritical...by saying f*** metallica your saying all their work, or everything they ve done....you missed my point anyways
^95 LOL
Also LOL to the fact any bands set their own ticket prices for their shows, if that were the case these tickets would be going for $1000 bucks each
ok listen...im really tired of Metallica in every conversation whenever any of the big thrash bands. Honestly i like Megadeth more than Metallica because Megadeth is more musically talented. They focus their writing on heavy riffs and amazing transitions. DONT get me wrong i still love Metallica and ill jam out anytime when One or Enter Sandman comes on the radio or when i decide to listen to Leper Messiah or Disposable Heroes or Fight Fire With Fire. I hate the fact that Metallica and Megadeth have to cut the thrash metal fan base in half and see who picks which band. THERE BOTH GREAT BANDS IN THERE OWN DIFFERENT WAY AND ALL OF WHO PEOPLE WHO ARE FIGHTING OVER THIS STOP AND APPRECIATE BOTH BANDS BEFORE THEY RETIRE! I got tickets to Izod...f*** yeah this is gunna be on helluva amazing show
