Sebastian Bach's House Devastated By Hurricane

Former Skid Row vocalist and solo artist Sebastian Bach has revealed that his house in the state of New Jersey, which he has lived in for twenty one years, has suffered massive damage as a result of the tropical storm Irene, which has been sweeping across the East Coast of America and left at least twenty people dead. A message from Bach posted on his Facebook page reads:

"I am numb, in shock, and devastated to report that my home of 21 years, my house featured on MTV Cribs, has been destroyed, condemned, and deemed uninhabitable due to the extreme flooding courtesy of Hurricane Irene. In the two decades I have lived in this home, there has never been a single drop of water in the basement or anywhere else in the structure. Now Irene has overflowed the reservoir adjacent...

"Somewhere under this water is a KISS pinball machine and two gargoyles from the Dynasty tour. If you see them floating past your house, they're mine. Or at least they were :("

Sunday Old School: Skid Row

For a band associated with the hair and glam movement of the eighties, Skid Row has spent most of their time post the "Decade of ME." Formed in 1986, it wasn't until 1989 that their debut album, the self-titled Skid Row record that mixed glam with arena rock and ballads, was released. It was that initial album that put the band on the map, but it was the subsequent albums that made this band one of the top acts of their genre.

The original Skid Row lineup was Rachel Bolan (bass) and Dave "the Snake" Sabo (guitar), Scotti Hill (guitar), drummer Rob Affuso, and Matt Fallon -- the vocalist who was quickly replaced by Sebastian Bach in early 1987. Is there any nickname better than "the Snake"? No. Do you think Dave Sabo and wrestler Jake "the Snake" Roberts ever get together? Is there a "the Snake" nickname convention? I like to think there is.

The self-titled album separated Skid Row from a group of bands that were getting more difficult to separate from. They had a little more of an edge compared to some of the other bands. If you were a male and were carrying Poison, Def Leppard, and Skid Row CDs, you would put the Skid Row CD on the top, covering the others. They were somewhere between Poison and Guns N' Roses. A little dirtier than Poison, but not quite the GN'R mess; you could sense Sebastian Bach didn't wash his hair every day.

The initial band was formed to be the next Bon Jovi. With Bach's good looks, shrieking voice and heavy band playing alongside, Skid Row was to continue making glam rock with a smile. However, during the recording of the first album something happened. Their band developed their own sound, still heavy metal pop, but with more street credentials. Despite most of the first album considered "heavy," it was the ballads, "18 And Life" and "I Remember You" that would receive air play and be known by the denim jacket crowds. Obviously Bach and company owe a thank you to all of the bands before them that made the power ballad what it was at that time. More...

The Rockstar Ramblings: Giving Back

Steven Tyler (Aerosmith) is admitting that not only did he fall off the wagon in 2008, but fellow toxic twin, Joe Perry also joined him while they attempted to record a new album. The way Tyler tells it is that Joe was snorting so many prescription drugs he was unable to play guitar. Note that contrary to rumors, snorting non-prescription drugs does not enhance playing guitar…

With eight out of thirteen tracks completed, Sebastian Bach (ex-Skid Row) is expected to have a new album released in the Summer of 2011. Bach is promising rock and roll with clean vocals and lots of screaming. All signs are pointing to Sebastian putting his “country music” years behind him. It appears everyone has agreed to just ignore this and make believe it never happened and that’s fine with me...

After attending classes and making a donation to M.A.D.D., Vince Neil (Motley Crue) is fully clear of his DUI charge. Neil will have the weekend to rest and then appear back in court on Monday for battery and disorderly conduct charges. For those keeping track it’s: Vince Neil 2, Lindsay Lohan 2 for number of court appearances in 2011. The good news is both are below their annual average, the bad news is we are only one-third through the year… More...

Sebastian Bach Posts Another Album Update

Former Skid Row vocalist Sebastian Bach has posted another message online, updating fans on the progress of his new studio album, which is expected to be released this Summer through Frontiers Reords. His message reads as follows:

"Today we begin recording the bass guitar on the record! This record will be the first I have ever done as a 3 piece. Nick Sterling is a monster bass player & if anyone else played on the record I would just say 'play it like Nick did', so hey why not let the man himself handle the low end. Maybe the back cover will feature us 3 in Kimonos ala Rush 2112. I can see it now hahaha! Everything is sounding killer!"

Heavy Metal Stars On Board For Dio Tribute Album

According to Wendy Dio, the wife and manager of heavy metal legend Ronnie James Dio, who sadly passed away last year, some of the biggest names in heavy metal and hard rock will be taking part in a forthcoming Dio tribute album.

"It probably won't come out this year, but everybody signed up," Dio told Noisecreep.

So, who's signed on thus far? "Rob Halford (Judas Priest), Glenn Hughes, Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters), Lemmy (Motorhead)," she said, adding Grohl will do the Black Sabbath hit 'Mob Rules,' and Halford will be taking on 'Long Live Rock 'N' Roll.' And artists keep coming on. "I just talked to Alice (Cooper), roped Alice in and Sebastian (Bach) and Chris (Jericho)," she said, referring to fellow attendees at the Golden Gods press conference. And Cooper already has a song in mind, going back to the Elf days, according to Wendy.

Sebastian Bach Issues New Update

Hard rock veteran and former Skid Row vocalist Sebastian Bach has posted the following update online:

"Just had the greatest talk with my producer Bob Marlette. We are on exactly the same page with the new CD! He agrees with me that tracks 1-7 out of the 13 demos are pretty much done.

"I have lived with these songs for over a year now and the songs have to be real good if I'm still digging them a year later! I have an open mind, though, to whatever magic occurs between Nick Sterling, Bobby Jarzombek [drums], Bob Marlette and myself.

"We start the next record in Los Angeles, California this Monday! I could not be happier."

Sebastian Bach Checks In From South America

Former Skid Row vocalist Sebastian Bach has posted a tour report online, discussing his current run of South America. The blog reads as follows:

"Hello from Brasilia, Brasil! It is so hot and beautiful here it's like paradise. I love the snow but man it feels incredible to get a suntan and go swimming and be outside in the heat, coming from Europe to Canada to Brasil lets me know yet again how lucky we all are to do this and what a great life this is! None of this could be possible without all of your support and we can't thank you enough for bringing us to South America!

"Tonight's the first show and we are very excited! Trying now to decide whether to open with 'Slave' or 'Saddle', depending on set time we may do 'In A Darkened Room' this tour as well due to all the requests I am getting for that track. I love the song too. Every country is different and since we have never been to Uruguay, Peru, or Chile, we may do some older tracks that have never been performed live in those countries.

"Which brings me to the subject of playing Chile for the first time. After the devastating earthquake that just happened there, I really can't believe we are playing Chile. It's going to be exciting playing rock music for a country that could probably use some good old escapism right now. I wish I knew how to help in some way with charity efforts in Chile, maybe I should ask Sean Penn about that , he sure knows how to help out, as evidenced by what he is doing in Haiti right now. I feel totally honoured and humbled by performing in Chile, we are gonna give you the greatest show we can because you sure deserve some good times right now!! Thanks to all of South America for your support and let's have some fun tonight Brasilia!!! See ya onstage in a couple of hours!!!"
