Brutal Assault Announced The Daily Running Order!

Brutal Assault just announced their daily running order for this year’s festival recently and it’s officially time to get excited! What’s there to get excited about? Plenty…The sheer number of bands is mind-boggling, but not overwhelming. Most of the more well-known bands play at the main stages which are situated next to each other. You can literally bounce back and forth between these stages exclusively at time and guess what! There’s food and beverage stands (including adult beverages) just meters behind you so it’s super convenient to refresh and refuel without missing too much of what’s happening on stage.

Brutal Assault Daily Running Order

What bands am I most forward to seeing during this edition of Brutal Assault? Well, in no particular order, here’s a short list: Macabre, Warbringer, Static-X, Ministry, Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, Orange Goblin, Gutalax, Gojira, Zeke, Asphyx, Monolord, Gaerea, Tsjuder, Crypta, and Arthur Brown. This is just a sampling. There's so much variety in the line-up. There's something for everyone! I’ll probably destroy myself trying to get to everyone on my list, but there’s nothing that some sleep won’t cure.

The other thing I love about this festival is just walking around and looking at all the exhibits, merch tents, food stands, beer tents and all the band shirts that everyone is wearing. There’s so much to see and do other than watching bands. For some examples, there’s the Lemmy Shrine to pay tribute to, there’s pool tables, there’s a movie room and there’s a pseudo disco of sorts for EDM, there’s art exhibits. I can go on and on…

Even outside of the festival grounds, in the town that Brutal Assault takes place, Jaromer, turns into a pre and post festival party garden. There are some bars and cafes to mingle in addition to pop up beer booths and food stands that are usually cheaper than inside the festival grounds. Even the walk towards the festival entrance is a site to see! There are literally tents lining the sides of the road and there’s always shenanigans taking place in this makeshift tent city.
For those that are going this year, are you getting excited??? I am for sure! I believe that there are very few whole-festival tickets remaining, so if you’re planning on making the trip to the Czech Republic, you better jump on it now!

Brutal Assault will take place in the Czech Republic at the Josefov Fortress during August 6-9, 2025.

Festival passes are available HERE!

Brutal Assault Adds A Corucopia Of Doom

Let yourself be consumed by darkness as the masters of crushing melancholy and epic storytelling take the stage at Brutal Assault: genre legends Paradise Lost, monumental Cult of Luna, Icelandic skalds Skálmöld, the somber heroin jazz of BOHREN & DER CLUB OF GORE/ official the epic conjurers of darkness Crypt Sermon, stoner titans Monolord, Aaron of My Dying Bride with his new doom project High Parasite, and the retro-futuristic progressive hard rock of Hällas.

Desertfest London 2024: Day 3

Once again, we come to the finale. The last day of a festival is always bittersweet. A time of sadness because you know things go back to normal tomorrow, but also of joy because there's another day full of great music ahead. While attendees didn't have The Roundhouse to enjoy on the last day, the Electric Ballroom was open to us again and boasted a wealth of talent ready to perform. As always though, The Underworld was open for business and that's where we begin today's report.

Heading down the staircase and into the venue, the crowd were welcomed by Noisepicker. The duo, comprised of Orange Goblin bassist Harry Armstrong on guitar & vocals and drummer Kieran Murphy, emit the vibe of a local band one might see down the pub, but the kind that you have to tell your friends about right away. They mix a healthy variety of music, including doom and punk to create something fun and lively, enticing the crowd with a good time. While the music itself is solid and very enjoyable, the tongue does seem to be placed firmly in cheek with Armstrong's delivery and banter with the audience. Honestly speaking, there may not be a huge legacy ahead for Noisepicker itself, despite the brilliant moniker, but they can definitely craft out a good reputation as a live band, one which perfectly opens a show and gets everyone in the right frame of mind. Kadavar, Monolord Added To Desertfest Lineup

The organizers of the 2017 Desertfest just checked in with this announcement about confirming four more bands:

"Hot on the trails of our last announcement, we're back already with a quadruple punch of heavy rocking goodness that will get the blood rushing for October to come, for sure!

"We realize that for some of you internet-savvy Festers, the addition of the mighty Kadavar to the DF Antwerp line-up is a known fact already. So how about we turn it up even more, and drop Church of Misery as a headliner as well? And if that's still not enough, would the announcement of Monolord do the trick?

"Yep, that's what we thought! So as a cherry on the cake, let's round it off with the Nottingham supergroup Church of the Cosmic Skull, who dropped one of the more memorable rock albums from last year. More great bands to come in the near future!" More...

Monolord Streaming "We Will Burn"

Swedish trio Monolord return with "Vænir" on April 28th (RidingEasy Records), with the song “We Will Burn” streaming now below, courtesy of Cvlt Nation.

“’We Will Burn’ is pure misanthropy,” said Monolord drummer Esben Willems. “It deals with the disgust for what we humans do to ourselves and to our own planet. No matter how clear the results are to us, we seem to be selectively ignorant to the fact that we are a self-destructive breed and that we are digging each other's graves. It's not a matter of if, but when. We WILL burn and we're heading there at blinding speed. On top of that, mentioning that fact is severely threatening to a lot of people - actually to the vast majority - so any attempt to slow down that man-made apocalypse is beaten down on, hard.”

The "Vænir" track listing is as follows:

1. Cursing The One
2. We Will Burn
3. Nuclear Death
4. Died a Million Times
5. The Cosmic Silence

Monolord Reveals New Album Details

Monolord was initially formed as a side project in 2013 out of the ashes of Swedish bands Marulk and Rotten Sound, featuring guitar player and vocalist Thomas Jäger, drummer Esben Willems, and bassist Mika Häkki.

Following the "Empress Rising" release, Monolord will drop new album "Vænir" via RidingEasy Records on April 28th, 2015. The label comments:

"Named after the biggest lake in Sweden, the overall effect of this eagerly awaited album can only be described as vast. Colossal in fact, with the only true metric of certainty being at forty-eight minutes long, across six epic tracks (including the recently released single ‘Cursing The One’) Vænir has the power to level everything it its path."

The track listing is: More...
