Eyehategod Posts New Song Online
New Orleans sludge metal legends Eyehategod has posted a new song online entitled, "Built Beneath Lies." You can check it out below. The song comes from the band's forthcoming new album, "A History Of Nomadic Behavior," which is set to be released through Century Media on March 12th.
Singer Mike IX Williams said of the track: “’Built Beneath The Lies’ is another acidic Eyehategod song playing in the background while the back alleys burn with nervous alcoholic tension and people all over cancel their summer plans to stare at the wall...” More...

Diamond Oz: The Best Of 2020
Right off the bat, I know some of you are laughing at the idea that 2020 could offer a best of anything. It's been a year to forget for most of us, thanks largely to the COVID-19 virus, which has had a devastating effect across the globe. Metal is no exception to the impact of the corona virus, and subsequently, we've not been able to attend many shows this year, with tours being cancelled left and right and it being unknown when they'll return. We've also sadly lost some true icons this year, including Eddie Van Halen, Pete Way and Leslie West, as well as the tragic death of Power Trip frontman Riley Gale.
Nevertheless, every situation has a positive and when it comes to the music itself, metal does what it does best and fights against the negative with some stellar new albums, as well as some incredible new bands emerging and the reformation of such bands as Vektor, Genghis Tron and Trail Of Tears. In this article, we'll be recognising some of the year's best releases, best live bands (from the short time we were able to actually see live music) and the best newcomers. Starting with...
Best Live Band
As I may have mentioned once or twice already, live shows were a rarity this year and so much of the bands I saw came from my time on board 70000 Tons Of Metal, where there were some very strong contenders for best live performance. While Toxik, At The Gates, Possessed and The Agonist all put on blistering shows, delighting all who were lucky enough to attend, the two bands who really stood out this time were Mexican deathgrinders Brujeria and Irish folk metal pioneers Cruachan. Brujeria are always a treat live, never failing to combine extreme metal with humour and a decent slice of politics, plus there's nothing quite like boarding a boat to Florida from Mexico, with a crowd singing "La Migra" at the top of their lungs! Cruachan meanwhile fought through some technical difficulties and a very late time slot to thrill those who stayed up to see them, before packing out the bar on the third night for their version of an Irish pub sing along, leading hundreds of metal fans in stirring renditions of such staples as "Seven Drunken Nights", "Come Out Ye Black And Tans" and of course, "Ride On." However my pick for best live band goes to a quartet who are about to unleash their first album in seven years and who weren't on board 70000 Tons this year.
Eyehategod
In what had to be the best package tour to actually happen this year, Napalm Death collected a motley crew of some of metal's best to wreck the ears of European headbangers, storming across Europe with Eyehategod, Misery Index, Rotten Sound and Bat. Each one of these bands were absolutely fantastic and it's always hard to top Napalm Death live, as it is Rotten Sound, but somehow Eyehategod did it. With fearsome energy, Mike IX's "fuck you" attitude and Jimmy Bower's exemplary riffs, the four piece absolutely tore Leeds apart on a cold February night. There were some in the crowd who weren't familiar with the New Orleans icons, but by the end of their set, they were cheered as heroes by all in attendence. One young lady I spoke to before their set that didn't know them was nearly in tears after by how overwhelmed she was by their performance. That new album can't come soon enough. More...
Eyehategod Premiere New Single "High Risk Trigger"

Eyehategod premiere their new advance track “High Risk Trigger” via YouTube. The new song marks their first new music in seven year and will appear on the group’s impending full-length “A History Of Nomadic Behavior“, out in stores on March 12th, 2021 through Century Media.
The band’s frontman Mike IX Williams commented: More...
Eyehategod To Release New Album In Spring 2021
New Orleans sludge metal pioneers Eyehategod has announced that they have returned to Century Media Records and that a new album, "A History Of Nomadic Behavior" will be released in the Spring of 2021.
A joint statement from the band on the band and label reunion: "Eyehategod are pleased to announce we’ve signed a licensing deal with Century Media Records USA and Europe! We welcome the new changes along with the new year coming, and want this union to benefit everyone involved, especially our rabid and disturbed fans across the globe!"
"We're happy to announce solidifying our worldwide relationship with Eyehategod," added Director of Century Media Records, Phillipp Schulte. "While Century Media has worked with the guys in the past, we're excited to begin a new chapter with a record that easily ranks amongst this hard-working, heavy-touring band's best. We are very much looking forward to releasing EyeHateGod's 'A History Of Nomadic Behavior.'"
"EyeHateGod are survivors on every level," says Century Media Records Vice President of A&R, Mike Gitter. "Since 1988 they've been part of the framework of extreme music and 'A History Of Nomadic Behavior' will be no exception. Theirs is a tough and turbulent road that would have stopped most bands dead in their tracks. Not these NOLA legends. Century Media has been part of their career from the early days and we're excited to be working together again. EyeHateGod is here to stay."
The cover art for A History of Nomadic Behavior has been revealed as the band and label prepare to share additional details about the album in coming weeks. More...
Eyehategod Completes Work On New Material
Eyehategod vocalist Mike IX Williams was recently interviewed on The Void With Christina. During their chat, which can be seen below, Mike talks about EHG's long-awaited next album, their new drummer, why Hurricane Katrina changed everything, his gratitude for the fans that saved his life, his favourite memories of late drummer Joey LaCaze, the band's notorious reputation and lots more.
When asked about the follow-up to 2014's self-titled Eyehategod album, Mike revealed that the music "is recorded. I just have to do vocals on it. We've been on tour so much. I was supposed to do it a few months ago, but something happened and things fell apart with that... So, I'm going to try and get it done. We're taking a few months off after this thing; after Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, South Korea. But yeah, as soon as all that's done, I'm going to take some time off, and there's a studio... I know where I'm going to go."
Williams elaborated further, "I've got so many words... I write all the time. They're either on my phone, or pieces of paper, or napkins. You just throw it together... it comes to you. I don't write lyrics for a certain song; there's no narrative. It's not like I'm telling a story. It's just words that sound good to me." More...

Eyehategod Responds To Senator Rapert
New Orleans sludge metal legends Eyehategod has recently found themselves in some hot water with Republican Senator Jason Rapert of Arkansas. A poster for their upcoming show in Little Rock (see below) displayed the politician biting a baby, who responded by labeling the band as "extreme liberals" who "torment his stand for better moral values." Rapert also urged people not to attend the venue (Vinos,) demanded the band and venue issue an apology, claimed they have "no respect for babies lives or people of faith" and that they invited the Satanic Temple to the city.
Eyehategod frontman Mike IX has issued a retort to the Senator, which reads as follows:
"Open letter to Sen. Jason Rapert (R):
"Thank you for all the attention you've given the EyeHateGod show in Little Rock, Arkansas. Any image that was used of you is protected under the First Amendment, which supposedly protects us 'Americans.' Please stick to destroying peoples lives by trying to ban same sex marriage, opposing medical marijuana legalization, threatening minorities, and absolutely attacking women's right to choose. Your moral crusade against basic human rights will be fought at every turn.

Ex-Eyehategod Guitarist Explains His Exit

Ex-Eyehategod guitarist Brian Patton has posted the below statement regarding his recently announced departure. The band themselves intend to carry on on as a quartet in the wake of his exit.
“Touring and being away from my family started to get harder after my daughter was born. Then soon after the arrival of my son, I left for a six-week tour. While I was away, both kids had some serious health scares. Being away from my family while that happened, along with an increasingly busy tour schedule, I decided the best thing for me was to step down. To concrete this decision, after a visit with my wife’s parents earlier this year, it became clear that my in-laws’ health was rapidly fading and they needed our help. So my family and I have moved to Greensboro, North Carolina to care for them full time.
Trust me when I say that this has been one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make. After being in this band for twenty-five years — over half of my life — to say that I will miss it is a huge understatement. I already miss it. Ultimately, I want to be at home with my family. But more importantly, I am truly needed at home. I love my brothers in EYEHATEGOD, of course, and wish them nothing but the best. Thank you to everyone who has supported me and the music I have played throughout the years. I hope to see you all soon. I plan on playing again in some form or fashion. But for now, my family comes first.”

Eyehategod Gives Bristol A Revelation/Revolution
Eyehategod a truly a law unto themselves. Celebrating their thirtieth anniversary this year, the influential band from New Orleans has fought through addiction, violence and even death to be here today. They've been hitting the road heavy this year, touring with the likes of Black Label Society and Corrosion Of Conformity and this week have been performing throughout the United Kingdom. I was able to catch their show at The Fleece in Bristol and witness first hand what an Eyehategod show is all about.
With no more than four support bands on the bill, I entered the venue in time to see the third, Beggar. Beggar are great for fans of doom and Black Sabbath, as unlike many others in the field, they don't merely imitate Sabbath, rather they take just as much influence from the blues as Birmingham quartet did. Following on from them was DVNE, from the Scottish capital of Edinburgh with plenty to offer. At first, they sound like most doom bands but as time goes on, one begins to notice and appreciate the progressive nature and sounds on display, as well as the post metal tones. Both bands are well worth checking out if you like your metal slow but interesting. More...

EyeHateGod Gearing Up For Massive U.S. Tour
EyeHateGod will kick off a 39 date U.S. mega tour next month. The "Left To Starve" summer takeover will commence on August 1st, run through September 13th, and includes performances with Capitalist Casualties, Phobia, Primitive Man, Negative Approach, Antiseen, Cro-Mags, Pig Destroyer, The Obsessed, and Mountain Of Wizard on select dates.
The journey also marks frontman Mike IX Williams' lengthiest tour since undergoing liver transplant surgery this past December. Comments IX Williams:
"This band, for better or worse, has endured a mind-numbing and brain-expanding thirty years of making some of the most criminally riff filled and abhorrent sounds ever heard on the planet earth. No middle ground; EyeHateGod is either wonderfully loved or instinctively hated. Predicting the future accidentally and preaching the end time message, see the band LIVE now before something else bad happens..." More...
