Pit Stories: Italian Temperment

Last week you all got spoiled with double Pit Stories so today we're returning to business as usual with just one tale of the ups and downs of touring.

For today's entry, we've got Magnus Henriksson of Swedish hard rocking crew Eclipse, who explains a bit about the uncertainties of traveling to another country for a festival gig.

Will there be someone to pick you up? Where are you staying? Will someone randomly hit you and then give you a big sloppy kiss? All these questions and more are answered with Magnus' tale:

Most of our funny or tragic tour stories always occur when we play in Italy for some reason. First time we played there with Eclipse, the promoter picked us up 2 hours late after our arrival. Being sleep deprived for having not slept for 24 hours he drove us to a rock pub where we’re forced to be introduced to his friends and watch one of "his" bands ’til 4 o clock in the morning. We just wanted to sleep.

We finally get to our "hotel" in the middle of nowhere. The day after (gig day) we wake up realizing we’re stranded in the middle of nowhere in a roach infested motel without food, water (you don’t wanna drink tap water in Italy) or possibilities to commute downtown. We just have to wait it out ’til something happens.

The promoter is nowhere to be found cuz his phone is shut off. We can’t reach anyone who works for the festival we’re about to play at.

We’re supposed to go on at 20.00.
We’re waiting. The clock is now 19.15.
We assume that there isn't gonna be a gig.

All of sudden a drunk driver in Motörhead t-shirt park his car outside our motel.
Turns out it's our shuttle. We reach the venue 30 min prior to the gig and we still haven't sound checked. The monitor tech (a hot tempered little Italian woman) is waiting for us onstage, shouting ”ECLIPSE!!!!! Where the hell have you been???”

I try to explain: ”Well, we waited for hours but…..” and then WHACK!!!! All of a sudden she hits our singer in the head with a rolled up newspaper! ”You bastards, showing up late!”

Eclipse Returns With "Monumentum"

Two years after the successful release of the "Armageddonize" album around the globe, Swedish hard rock act Eclipse has established itself as a rising star with audiences in Australia, Japan, America, and Europe (including the 3.5 million viewers who saw Eclipse's debut on Swedish national television at Melodifestivalen 2016).

With the musical development and maturity shown across the board on the last two albums, "Bleed and Scream" and "Armageddonize," the future has become clear: the band is destined for stardom! And now with the new album, aptly entitled “Monumentum,” band’s amazing abilities are truly on display for the world to hear. The album will drop via Frontiers Music srl on March 24th.

After touring extensively for two years in support of "Armageddonize," Eclipse's main songwriters Erik Mårtensson and Magnus Henriksson reconvened in Erik's new studio in the Swedish countryside in late summer 2016 and started writing new songs. The intention was to write and record an album with no compromise on either song quality or musical performance from the band.

Singer, songwriter and producer Erik Martensson says: "With every album, one's way of writing music changes a bit. What you thought was exciting and interesting while writing one album can radically change when you start writing the next. I think we have brought in quite a few new tricks in the writing and recording process while still staying true to our sound. In the end, it all boils down to if it's good or bad songs and I think this is the best album we've done. In my opinion there is not one single weak song on the album and I'm really proud of it!" Eclipse To Release Fourth LP "Bleed And Scream"

Swedish hard rockers Eclipse announced that the band will release the fourth studio album entitled "Bleed And Scream" through Frontiers Records on August 24, 2012 (Europe) and August 28, 2012 (North America). The album is the first in four years for the band, following the 2008 album "Are You Ready to Rock."

The first single “Bleed And Scream” will be exclusively distributed in Sweden through Sweden Rock Magazine in the issue that will hit the streets on July 17th. This special release will include the two exclusive bonus tracks "Come Hell or High Water" and "Into The Fire".

The band set the bar high for "Bleed And Scream." Guitarist Magus Henriksson commented:

“We knew we had to do everything better on this album. If we couldn’t have achieved that we never would have released it! But boy did it turn out well! When it was taking shape we realized this was to be a monster of an album.

"“Every song has qualities as a single. Erik´s vocals are way better than ever. The guitar-sound is just awesome! The whole production is just in your face. It has something for everyone in it! We worked so hard at making this record that it drove us nearly nuts and made us wanna scream, but now it’s your turn to 'bleed & scream'."

Vocalist/guitarist Erik Martensson added: "With Eclipse we never think of what other people want or expect from us. We write for ourselves and make the music we love to listen to. If I'd think of a perfect album this is how it will sound! And once the album was written the recording process went pretty smooth as we knew exactly what goal we aimed for. I'd say it's our own pimped version of the classic hard rock we grew up listening to."

“Bleed and Scream” track listing is as follows:

1. Wake Me Up
2. Bleed And Scream
3. Ain't Dead Yet
4. Battlegrounds

6. Falling Down
