Paul Di'Anno Looking Into Recording A New Album
Former Iron Maiden frontman Paul Di'Anno was recently interviewed by Australia's PyroMusic.net. He discussed a number of things including a new solo album, the influence of punk and his autobiography. You can read some excerpts of the interview below:
Pyromusic.net: I understand you have a new album in the works - what is the latest on that?
Paul Di'Anno: "We started to record it last year in Germany, but have since had some business problems associated with the production company involved with this project, so I may start another new album quite soon now. At the moment I am just concentrating on touring, as this is taking up 100% of my time right now."
Pyromusic.net: You were at the forefront of the creation of heavy metal as we know it today. What was it like in England playing metal when punk was the big thing and what was it like to see the music grow?
Paul Di'Anno: "It was in fact great for me as I was a fan of both metal and punk and very much into the punk attitude... somehow or other that seemed to shine through in the early Maiden days. We survived well throughout the punk period."

Iron Maiden Guitarist Discusses New Album
Iron Maiden guitarist Adrian Smith was recently interviewed by British metal magazine Metal Hammer about a variety of topics. When asked about the new Iron Maiden album, he said: "Yeah, we were talking about it briefly the other day and I’ve been thinking about it every day since because there are so many ways we can go with it. It’d be nice if we had the songs now and we could come off tour and go straight into the studio match-fit, as it were. Usually we have a long time off, and the way we play in the studio is as live, so it’s always a bit tense at first because we haven’t played for six months. I’d ideally like to go in [soon]. Again, it’s a day-to-day thing, you go in, take it as you find it, try and do the best job you can."

Iron Maiden Manager Comments On Show Riot
Iron Maiden manager Rod Smallwood has issued the following statement about reports of rioting at the band's recent show in Bogota:
"The news from Bogota is wildly exaggerated. We are now in beautiful Quito for a show tomorrow. Everyone is just fine. The "riots" were basically a lot of kids trying to break into the Simon Bolivar Park to see the show and the park has a big perimeter to protect. There is a large military presence for all concerts in Bogota as can be seen in our forthcoming movie Flight 666. However in the last 13 months we have played 2 fantastic concerts there to over 75,000 passionate fans at this same venue, Simon Bolivar Park. Neither performance was at all affected by the incidents of people outside trying to break in. None of the enjoyment of the show or safety of the band or our audiences was at all compromised.
"We abhor the inane behaviour of a small minority of people outside. They do Iron Maiden, Metal and the real Colombian fans a disservice and sadly just provide a reason for the military to feel they need to be there.
"Our fans are there for the MUSIC. We definitely intend to return to Colombia and trust the authorities will not be swayed to banning Maiden and Metal because of a minority of trouble makers spoiling it for the huge majority of true Iron Maiden fans."
Riot Breaks Out At Iron Maiden Concert
ColombiaReports.com reports:
The concert of British heavy metal group IRON MAIDEN in Bogotá, Saturday (March 7th), became the scene of heavy unrest and riots.
Trouble started when a group of fans climbed the fence that seperated the VIP space from the general public, and reportedly managed to get as close as 30 meters from the stage.
Later on, those that hadn't conquered a ticket began causing troubles in the area around the Parque Simón Bolivar, where the concert was held. More...

Iron Maiden Announces Final Show of Tour
Rock legends Iron Maiden have confirmed that the final show ever of their massive "Somewhere Back in Time World Tour 2008 -- 9" will be in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on the 2nd of April at the Bank Atlantic Center. This, the band's first show in Florida for 13 years, will definitely be the last show of one of the most ambitious rock tours ever undertaken and promises to be a big party night for both the band and audience.
Says drummer and local Florida resident Nicko McBrain; "We'll be arriving right in the middle of Spring Break so this really promises to be a huge party for everyone and I'm sure there will be more than a few sore heads in Fort Lauderdale the following day! The whole tour has been an amazing experience and this final leg back on Ed Force One promises to be crazier than ever!
"It was quite something to bring to reality the mad idea of creating a flying tour bus out of a Boeing 757 but it's enabled us to go further to reach many fans in countries we have never played before and also revisit fans where we haven't seen for some time, and it's a long time since we played in Florida! The 757 truly has been our 'magic carpet' as Bruce describes it.
"Luckily for me the magic carpet is stopping not far from my front door which is very handy and nice way to finish this tour. Not far to stagger home!!"
