Heavy metal legends Iron Maiden won the award for Best Live Act at the Brit Awards last night, which is the biggest awards show in British music. The band couldn't be there in person to collect the award due to being on tour but thanked their fans in a video message. You can check out the message below.

Frontman Bruce Dickinson says: "We couldn’t keep this entire show on the road without our fans. They’re the people that keep this band alive. And I do hope that Eddie doesn’t get too jealous."

very suprised that the brit awards realise that heavy metal exists let alone gave an award to a band worthy of one.

Maiden has more than paid their dues. They've worked hard for it. Glad to see them getting recognition. As Bruce said, this award is voted on by fans, not a committee. Their live show is phenomenal.

The US is he only place where metal bands are not hailed, thats why iron maiden is winning brit awards and in flames is winning swedish awards, the music appeals to them more unlike Our country horrible rap and pop music.

Who needs awards?
Our metal/hardcore scene is very much still underground. Sure bands have charted but they haven't changed. The most popular bands have always stayed the same. Parkway have always been metalcore, Mindsnare have always been hardcore and Psycroptic have always been metal as f***.
f*** awards who needs them?

I'm too young to have grown up with Maiden. Finally seeing them live changed my life. They deserved this-they know how to put on a show, and I'm glad people somewhere recognize it, whether you deem the award important or not.

The bands I see every week all put on awesome shows. Far more entertaining that stadium bands. But they'll never get any kudos from industry types like this.
But that's the way it should be. If a band is good why do they need awards?
Just a chance for everyone to stroke their already massive egos.
