Blastfest Announces Final Band Confirmations

The organizers of the Blastfest have checked in with the following announcement about final band confirmations:

"The lineup announcements had to come to an end eventually and Blastfest has now revealed the final three bands for the main lineup. But that’s not to say what you see on the burgeoning Blastfest poster is all that’s happening. No, no, no, there will be more!

"There’s already a lineup that would bring tears to the eyes of even the toughest metalhead with bands such as Demilich, Satyricon, Decapitated, Paradise Lost, At The Gates & Moonsorrow... and just last week a cruise up the Norwegian fjords with live bands was announced as part of the first days festivities. We still have to hear more… the clinics, the stand up comedy, the exhibitions, and lots more have yet to be revealed!

"For now, let’s leave this here… Sweden’s Uppsala upstarts, the black metal powerhouse, the entity of its own who released possibly their best work to date just last year with ‘The Hunt’, yes, the mighty Watain have been announced as another Blastfest 2015 headliner. The festival has also welcomed Austria’s sickest death metal export Schrinec Plays Pungent Stench and Bergens blackened deaththrash horde Grimfist." More...

And finally being able to rip out new stuff in front of a U.S. club audience? Sweet! The bill looks amazing, too! The most relevant hardcore band on the planet and the fiercest old-school death metal band on the same night as us? Excited!"

"We are excited to be part of this fantastic and diverse tour," says Converge front man Jacob Bannon, who designed the tour logo and art. "For me, At The Gates are one of the most important bands in contemporary heavy music. It will be an honor to tour the country with them."

"This will be Vallevnfyre's first U.S. tour, and what a tour," beams frontman Gregor Mackintosh. "I think this is the most diverse and exciting bill of any metal tour I have seen this year. Great to be a part of it. We will be injecting some British filth into your unsuspecting American ears. Cheers." More...

Cripple Bastards To Play Obscene Extreme Fest

Italy's Cripple Bastards has been confirmed for the upcoming Obscene Extreme Festival. The following press release was also issued about the appearance:

"You could say this is a 'grindcore hat-trick' as it is the third OEF appearance in 2014 for Italian hate mob Cripple Bastards after headlining the insane Obscene Extreme Asia in Tokyo and Obscene Extreme Australia in Melbourne earlier this year. But if you really want to see the Bastards play at home, then Obscene Extreme Trutnov is the grounds for the final massacre. They have been blasting the shit on stage since the festival's birth back in 1999 and raised the most infernal stage diving pits for countless times through the years that followed.

"26 years after their conception Cripple Bastards still hold the banner high as Italy's most hostile and aggressive grind/hardcore unit around. With one foot firmly in the past and all the vicious savagery of manic fast 80's hardcore extremity, Cripple Bastards are also charging forwards. With bloodshot eyes and a rabid 'get out and bite them' attitude, this band are ready to introduce their brand new 2014 full length 'Nero In Metastasi' on Relapse Records and they will consolidate their ongoing mission of bringing nihilistic, fuck-you-all, grinding hatred to every corner of an underserving mankind. Cripple Bastards will also be introducing for the first time ever on Trutnov's Battlefield their 5 piece line-up with new axeman Wild Vitto on second guitar which will only enhance their wall of hate/grind fury!"

The Obscene Extreme Festival 2014 will take place from July 16th - 20th, 2014, with full details available right here. The confirmed lineup includes the following bands: More...

Vallenfyre To Release "Splinters" Album

On May 12th in Europe and on May 13th in North America, Vallenfyre's second full-length, "Splinters," will be released via Century Media Records.

The cover artwork was created by Brian D'Agosta, who previously drew a logo for Vallenfyre bassist Scoot's other band, Extinction of Mankind. For a first preview of "Splinters," a video trailer featuring part of the album's opening track, "Scabs", can be viewed belwo.

"Vallenfyre was something I felt utterly compelled to do. It was almost like I didn't have a choice. I was told by a bereavement counselor that I should write down and vocalize my feelings. I did just that and then everything just seemed to take a natural course," is how Greg Mackintosh (vocals/lead guitars) describes the initial spark helping him to transform the anger and sadness ensuing the loss of his father into the band's firs talbum "A Fragile King" (2011). Brutal Truth To Play Obscene Extreme Fest

The Obscene Extreme festival will be taking place from July 16th - 20th, with ticket information available at this location. Now the festival has announced several new additions to the lineup, including Brutal Truth and Morgoth. The festival organizers comment:

"Few bands represent Obscene Extreme as fully as US grind legends Brutal Truth – they've weathered break-ups and line-up changes, but never once have they halted in their mission to keep pushing the bleeding edge of grindcore.

"Never complacent, each steamroller of Brutal Truth album has furthered their sound and moved the goalposts for the whole damn genre in the process. Now bassist, founding member and extreme metal champion Dan Lilker approaches his 50th birthday, he's stepping back from music and his baby - Brutal Truth - will be no more.

"When the band returned in 2006, it was Obscene Extreme the following year that welcomed them back as very personification of the festival. Now, seven years later we'll bid them farewell with one final performance. Obscene Extreme 2014 – this promises to be unforgettable!!!

"Another band that will be stepping out onto the Obscene Extreme stage this year will be fathers of the German death metal scene, the mighty Morgoth. Originally split in 1998 after only three albums - the coffin-lid hammering of 1991's ‘Cursed,’ 1993's forward-thinking ‘Odium’ and their most divisive albums ever, 1995's post-punk ‘Feel Sorry For The Fanatic.’ More...

Vallenfyre Enters Studio, Announces Name Of New LP

U.K.'s Vallenfyre, featuring Paradise Lost's Gregor Mackintosh, has officially entered the studio to record their second full-length album entitled "Splinters." The album is expected for release in May 2014 via Century Media Records.

Mackintosh (vocals and lead guitars) commented: "We have now arrived in a very cold Salem, MA and are currently holed up in Godcity Studio with producer Kurt Ballou tracking drums for our second album, 'Splinters'. We are really digging Kurt's honest, old-fashioned approach to recording. No triggers or samples. Just a good drum kit, good mics and a good drummer."

In 2011, Gregor Mackintosh (Paradise Lost) announced that he would go back to his death metal roots with his new band, Vallenfyre. The level of expectation was set high with a line-up consisting of Hamish Glencross (guitar; My Dying Bride), Scoot (bass; Doom), Adrian Erlandsson (drums; At the Gates/Paradise Lost/The Haunted. The debut, "A Fragile King," was a reference to Gregor's father's (lost) battle with cancer.

More information on the album is expected soon. More...
