Mystic Festival (PL) Adds 8 More Bands To Line-Up
It's going to be four very intense days. Heavyweight riffs will be delivered by American masters Crowbar, but also the sensation of recent seasons from the UK, namely Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs. In the latter's music bleakness of doom contrasts with free-flowing, psychedelic rock and roll.
Death worshippers Blasphemy are not coming to Gdansk in peace - the cult Canadian band will wreak havoc and destruction. Twin Temple also serves the night, although they pursue it through completely different means. Instead of asking, like The Rolling Stones, for sympathy for the devil, they will force you to do a sinful dance to their infernal doo-wop.
We love to jump from one extreme to another, from retro to modern and even to the future of metal and rock. Brits from Wargasm will rock the stage with a cocktail of electro punk and nu-metal. Scowl is anger-driven hardcore from California. Iceland is represented by post-metal visionaries from Múr, and if you fly too far away with them, Denmark's Nakkeknaekker will bring you down to earth with their full-blooded death metal.
Mystic Festival will take place in Gdansk, Poland at the Gdansk Shipyard on June 5th through 8th, 2024.
Tickets are available now on the Mystic Festival homepage here More...

Wargasm Releases Demo Collection
Legendary Boston metal band Wargasm is commemorating the 25th anniversary of debut album "Why Play Around?" by releasing an album comprised of mid-'80s demos.
The 11 tracks on “Satan Stole My Lunch Money (Deluxe Expanded Edition)” were taken directly from the original cassettes, and the album includes every track from the band's four demos: "Satan Stole My Lunch Money," "Your Dog's Teeth," "Gasm It," and "Spirit In Decay."
"Whoever owns the rights to 'Why Play Around?' will probably never re-release it," says Wargasm bassist/vocalist Bob Mayo. "In fact, all 3 of our albums are currently unavailable. But almost half the songs on 'Why Play Around?' are on this demos album, so it's a pretty cool way to celebrate its 25th anniversary."
"Why Play Around?" has been out of print for two decades, though original LP, cassette and CD versions of the album sell for hefty prices in the aftermarket.
Mayo continues: "We were amazed that the cassettes still sounded so good. But when you’re dealing with cassettes, remixing them is out of the question. And when the cassettes are 20-25 years old, you’re really limited in what you can do with them sonically. We did what we could, and I think they sound pretty killer."
"Working on this record definitely brought me back to those days," says Mayo. "Thrash was just evolving and the tape-trading underground was a really powerful way to get your band heard all over the world. There is no underground anymore, there’s no more zines; everything’s on the internet for anyone to experience instantly. It was hard work to make an impression back then. Those times were really special to us and so are these tapes. They're part of the metal underground's history and we're psyched to be able to release them all together this way."

Meliah Rage Still Seeking New Vocalist
Boston power metallers MELIAH RAGE are currently hard at work in the studio on their next release, tentatively due to hit stores this summer on Screaming Ferret Wreckords. The band are holed up at Red Devil Recording in Stoughton, MA with Rich Spillberg (former WARGASM guitarist) handling the production duties alongside Meliah Rage mainman Anthony Nichols.
"As some of you might know we recently parted ways with vocalist Paul Souza," says Nichols, "The only reason for the split is that Paul's schedule makes it difficult for him to tour. We are presently working on a new record and have plans for some summer 2008 touring. Anyone interesed in the position can contact us thru our MySpace page or via our website. If you have already sent an email feel free to try again as we might have missed a few in the shuffle." More...

A 40-second "teaser" video for WARGASM's upcoming DVD has been posted online at this location. The disc is expected to contain footage recorded at Boston's thrash pioneers' special reunion show on Sept. 18, 2004 at the Middle East Club in Cambridge, MA. Due later in the year, the DVD will also feature a documentary about the band, complete with vintage live material and other candid footage of the group.
WARGASM split up in 1995 after issuing their third full-length album, "Suicide Notes", through the Transmission label.
Wargasm DVD Is "Coming Along Slowly But Surely"
WARGASM guitarist Rich Spillberg has issued the following update via the band's official web site:
"The DVD has been coming along slowly but surely. I actually got myself involved in producing another album, and that has been taking my time away from the 'GASM DVD, but I have recently started back into it. The band that I'm producing is STEEL ASSASSIN. If you don't know of them, they were around in the early Eighties. They had a PRIEST/MAIDEN/SAXON early metal sound. I used to roadie for them long before 'GASM was doing it. They broke up in around '86 and recently the original members (except for the singer) all reformed to write and record an album. They asked me to do it. They have some interest from some labels here and in Europe, so we are trying to sort that all out right now.
"Yeah, taking these things on is great, but it does interfere with the 'GASM stuff. The way I look at it is the 'GASM package will come out and it is going to be amazing!!"
"As some of you may or may not know I created a myspace account for WARGASM back in February of 2005. The page URL is www.myspace.com/wargasm this is now where you will find MP3s for download and a message board dedicated to WARGASM!"
