Deez Nuts Postpones European Tour Dates

Hardcore breakouts Deez Nuts are saddened to announce the postponement of their European dates. The tour, which was scheduled to hit the UK in March this year, will now take place in February 2023.

The band comment: "Due to ongoing Covid restrictions, we unfortunately have to cancel our upcoming German shows and postpone the rest of our European dates. We were looking forward to finally making these shows happen but at this point it is out of our control. Due to scheduling conflicts with planned summer shows, we couldn’t reschedule the German shows. We are working on making it up to our German fans though, so stay tuned.

"Unfortunately, our friends Kublai Khan TX will not be able to make the new timeframe work. We will have news soon on a replacement! Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to try to make these shows happen and to everyone who bought tickets or planned to catch a show. Tickets for the German shows will be refunded at point of purchase, tickets for the rest of the EU & UK dates remain valid! Stay safe."

The band are still due to appear on the Saturday at 2000 Trees Festival in Cheltenham this year.

Deez Nuts Bassist Passes Away Aged 35

Sean Kennedy, the bassist for Australian hardcore band Deez Nuts and formerly of I Killed The Prom Queen, has been found dead at the age of thirty five. Although no cause of death has been publicly confirmed, Australian outlet Tone Deaf claims that the musician committed suicide (see article here.) Several of Kennedy's former bandmates have paid tribute to him, with former I Killed The Prom Queen vocalist Michael Crafter saying:

"For years we stood side by side on stage or in band photos. We slept on floors, in vans, planes and somehow managed to tour the world. Time went way too fast. We experienced highs and lows on the road and after all we went through, you will always be my friend. As the years passed us by I'm glad we've always been there for each other. When I called you last week I didn't think it would be the last. I wish I could say goodbye. Love and will always miss you mate. Rest in peace."

Terror Defends The Faith In London

New York may have the biggest reputation when it comes to hardcore music in the modern sense but there are so many great bands in the genre from all across America. If we travel from the East Coast to the West Coast, we'll find one of the most popular hardcore groups in recent times in the guise of Terror from Los Angeles. Fronted by the charismatic Scott Vogel and having built up a fearsome live reputation over nearly seventeen years, Terror has gone from strength to strength. Now with the release of their seventh full length album, "Total Retaliation," the quintet has been back in Europe, decimating stages once more. I went along to their performance at The Underworld in Camden, London to experience Terror first hand in an intimate setting.

Though there were four support acts, a combination of things, including an interview with Terror drummer Nick Jett (which can be watched or read here,) meant that I barely caught the very end of the third band of the night. My first full set came from the tour's main support band, Deez Nuts, all the way from Australia. Forming from the ashes of I Killed The Prom Queen, this quartet has all the familiar traits of the average hardcore band, but with a bit more emphasis on rapping than many other groups.

They're frankly quite a difficult band to judge, as one song may sound very mediocre, but the next could be an absolute barn burner. Add to this the likeability of vocalist JJ Peters, who thanked the audience constantly throughout the show and ultimately you have a band which rises above their faults to endear themselves to the neutral attendee. Some may find their name offputting, but I would recommend looking past that and giving them a serious try, because they clearly care about and work hard at what they do to deserve attention. We Ride Premieres New Song "What You Are"

Spain’s hardcore/metal outfit We Ride premieres a new song entitled "What You Are", taken from the upcoming new album "Empowering Life", which will be out in stores April 14th via Victory Records. Deez Nuts frontman JJ Peters lends guest vocals to the track.

Says frontwoman Mimi Telmo of the track: "‘What You Are‘ is about the fine line split between friendship and indifference. No matter how hard you try to salvage a relationship, sometimes you just have to walk away. I’ve always been a Deez Nuts fan, and when meeting JJ in person, I saw that he is not only a great frontman, but also a lovely person. Over the years we became good friends and we always have a great time when we share a stage together. While writing this song, I felt it was perfect for JJ and I love how it turned out!"

Deez Nuts Posts Music Video

Following the "Face This On My Own" video (still available here), Deez Nuts just released the "What I Gotta Do" music video, which is the third track to be released from forthcoming album "Word Is Bond."

JJ Peters comments about the track and video: "I'm really excited to release 'What I Gotta Do' - it's by far the furthest we've stepped out of our comfort zone, but still somehow sounds 110% DN. I can't wait for the world to hear it and I'm very curious to hear what y'all's vibe on it is.

"We have actively avoided doing a 'party' clip like the plague in the past as it seemed way too obvious for us, but with 'What I Gotta Do' being the furthest thing from a party song vocally and lyrically, the juxtaposition of the frenzied party vibe video along with the track makes for a damn near sensory overload. If by watching it you have a thousandth of the fun we had making it, you'll have a hangover."

Deez Nuts Releases New Video

Deez Nuts just released the "Face This On My Own" music video, which is the second track to be released from forthcoming album "Word Is Bond" (due out April 21st). Check it out below, courtesy of AbsolutePunk.net.

The video was made in Melbourne earlier this year and was shot in just one take, along the street that frontman JJ Peters lives on. Peters comments:

"I can't wait to drop 'Face This On My Own!' 'Word Is Bond' is heavier, faster and more aggressive album no doubt... but we haven't forgotten about the anthems, and prove that with 'Face This On My Own.' Hopefully this track is gonna have people chanting along and swilling beers arm in arm. The video was fun to make and probably one of my favourites to date!" More...
