Overkill's Bobby Blitz Collapses
Overkill frontman Bobby "Blitz" Ellsworth collapsed onstage about 30 minutes into the band's headlining performance in Nürnberg, Germany on Thursday, June 27th after suffering a "minor stroke", according to a message posted on the group's web site.
"As most of you know, Blitz collapsed on stage at a show in Nürnberg and was taken to the hospital by paramedics," reads the group's official statement on the matter. "After some tests he was diagnosed as having had a minor stroke. He was held for 2 days for tests and was released. He is currently still in Europe where he is taking it easy for a few weeks. Doctors said he we make a full recovery and will be 100%! He needs to take some time off for the next few weeks and then Overkill will be in pre-production for a new studio release in February of next year."
Hades On Hold Indefinitely
The speed metal act Hades has called it quits - in the words of Dan Lorenzo: "We THINK we've decided to stop playing indefinitely - too much work for too little reward. If a great European festival offer came around I'm sure we'd consider it though." - while they think: Ed started a new band called Ten Ton Truck, Ron is in a cover band called Southern Shift and Dan is writing tons of non-Hades type stuff on his digital 8 track.

Machine Head Continue As Three-Piece
Similar to Metallica's recent predicament, but without that band's clout, Machine Head aim to record their next album as a three-piece, with no intention of finding a permanent replacement for recently departed guitarist Ahrue Luster. However, the band will be using Phil Demmel as an extra guitarist on their upcoming European tour.
Hetfield Goes Country
There once was a day when Metallica would not even consider doing commericals and soundtracks. Now, after doing both of those, aswell as collaborating with rapper Ja Rule, Metallica’s James Hetfield guests on a remix of the song ‘So Complicated’ by country star Caroline Dawn Johnson. The new version is simply called ‘Complicated’. The only other thing that would surprise me now is if they actually played some goddamn METAL!

Killswitch Engage Singer Leaves For Now
Killswitch Engage frontman Jesse Leach has temporarily left the band for personal reasons. The remaining members are currently auditioning potential replacements before resuming on the road in support of acclaimed album ‘Alive Or Just Breathing’. Leach is expected to return to the fold eventually.

Chicago's Serpent Crown have disbanded. The reason for the split, according to the band, is "irreconcilable personal differences." There has been no word on what the members of the band will do in the future.
God Forbid Pulls Out of Tour
New Jersey metalcore outfit God Forbid pulls out of Kittie's tour with Shadows Fall to focus attention on writing the follow-up to last year's lauded Determination album.
"God Forbid unfortunately had to pull out of its mini-Midwest tour with Shadows Fall and Killswitch Engage to concentrate on writing the follow-up to our debut, Determination," guitarist Doc Coyle said. Hypnosia Call It Quits
Swedish thrasher Hypnosia have officially called it a day after seven years of plying the metal underground.
"Hypnosia R.I.P. 1995-2002," said the band's official website. "Hypnosia has gone back to Hell, and is no longer! I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those true to the underground and who supported Hypnosia for these last 7 years, HAIL!!! Metallica To Continue As Trio
Metallica have effectively confirmed that they will finish recording their new album as a trio, with producer Bob Rock filling in on bass. The band also revealed that the title of the new song they performed last week during a surprise club show in San Francisco: ‘DK Rolls’. James Hetfield explained the reason he was seated for the gig was that he’s waiting for an operation on his neck.
Godsmack Drummer Leaves Band
Godsmack drummer Tommy Stewart has left the band to pursue other musical activities. However, the split is said to be amicable. The band, who are currently working on songs for their next album, have yet to announce a replacement.
Remaining Euro Ozzfest Cancelled
The remaining dates on the European Ozzfest tour have been cancelled. This is because Ozzy/Black Label Society guitarist Zakk Wylde is said to be suffering form ‘mental and physical exhaustion’. The dates were due to happen in Switzerland, Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Russia from June 8-16.
Lindberg and The Crown Part Ways
In a statement on their official website, The Crown have announced they are parting ways with new vocalist Tomas Lindberg.
"The Crown and Tomas Lindberg have parted ways due to personal differences, any questions to this statement will be answered with "no comments"."
Morbid Angel Need Frontman
The Morbid Angel duo of Trey Azagthoth (guitar) and Pete Sandoval (drums) have ended their collaboration with touring bassist/vocalist Jared Anderson and are currently holed up at a Louisiana jam pad writing material for the group's next studio effort, due in 2003. Anderson, who had filled the role of the band's frontman during the act's most recent touring activities, has apparently opted to focus all his attention on Hate Eternal and Internecine and will not be contributing his services to Morbid Angel's upcoming CD, which is tentatively scheduled to be recorded later in the year. An official announcement regarding the identity of the group's new bassist/vocalist and the details of the forthcoming album is expected in the coming months.
Neat Records Sold to Sanctuary
Jess Cox, MD of Neat Records (incorporating Neat Metal Records & Eldethorn Records) has sold the label to Sanctuary Records. He will, however, continue with his label Edgy Records with releases in May and on through the rest of the year.
"I really didn't want to sell the label, but I needed to create some space to concentrate on Edgy Records Ltd. Sanctuary will be able to release all the old 80s NWOBHM catalogue that I couldn't find the time to do & which I was constantly asked about - like Hellenbach, Cloven Hoof &, of course, Venom."
