Cradle of Filth has revealed the cover art for its upcoming 10th studio album, "The Manticore and Other Horrors," due out October 30th in North America via Nuclear Blast Records. Artwork comes courtesy of Matthew Vickerstaff of Darkwaveart and can be viewed below. The following press release was issued about the album:

"Recorded in eight weeks at both Springvale and Grindstone studios (where it was also mixed by Scott Atkins), Suffolk, the album is a testament to the longevity of The 'Filth, as not only does it reek of Cradle's (feared or revered) brand of delicious metal vamperotica, but this thoroughly modern album places the band firmly in fresh killing fields anew.

"The Manticore and Other Horrors itself possesses an altogether new atmosphere for the band, incorporating a heavier, faster NWOBBM punk vibe that is both current and cruel, blended with ornate orchestration and the quirky immediateness of 2000's Midian opus. The album’s title can be likened to a bestiary, a collection of stories on monsters - personal demons, Chimeras, literary fiends and world-enslaving entities to blame but a few."

Commented the band’s infamous front man, Dani Filth, “This is our 10th commandment in metal. We have diversified and kept alive the spirit of this band and breathed it into something that I can proudly say, slays like an absolute motherf**ker. The Manticore is coming… Long live the filth!”

It looks like C3PO in drag.

Another vote for dislike. But to be honest, have I ever really liked a Cradle of Filth cover? I can't really say I have.

^^^Agreed. Cradle album covers have never been that great.
Midnight in the Labyrinth was the best by far.
Thornography had a great cover; contents were lacking to say the least.

I do like what "Dusk And Her Embrace" is going for, but something about the way the logo is placed and the fact it doesn't have the album title on it really grinds my gears...

Before C3PO I thought either Holy Moses's "Queen of Siam" cover or the film Metropolis. There's a pun about metal chicks in here somewhere but I'm struggling.

OMG I used to have that on cassette back in the day. \m/
And you're right, very similar covers in concept.
I'm still after all these years blown away by her vox. Talk about being years ahead of your time. Very cool, very cutting edge for its time.

On a positive note the female C3PO has a spinning vagina mechanism.
When you’re done her whole body spins super-fast and flies right off you c*** and out the door never to be seen or heard until called for again.
And really?
Isn’t that the perfect relationship?

I won't even go into what the regular male C3PO does.
Let's just say...there's a reason Han Solo used to call him "Golden Rod". :)

Ha, old school awesome. Yeah Holy Moses are a secret favourite of mine, I regularly listen to them over a lot of the big names in thrash. "Finished With The Dogs" is one of the best thrash albums ever. Also - f***ing lol, I think there's a market for these sexbots.

Thanks Cynic, I'll have to check out "Finished"
For some reason they never really hit too big in the States. But like I said, they were years ahead of their time.
