As was previously announced, Lamb of God's Randy Blythe is currently being held in Prague for charges of manslaughter due to an incident at a live show two years ago. The band has now made its first official statement on the issue:

"First of all, thanks to everyone who has reached out in support of Randy and each of us in this terrible situation. It’s noted and very much appreciated.

"We have been keeping our heads down and not speaking out due to the fluid nature of the situation and the constantly changing information that even we receive daily. Within an hour things can do endless 180’s. It’s maddening to try and make heads or tails.

"We’re taking the time to speak to you as it has been a significant period of time since this situation began and while nothing is immediately clear to any of us, we are not trying to keep anyone in the dark.

"We have reached out and are making use of the resources we have acquired to help our brother who is still detained in Czech jail.

"In the two years since, we were never notified of anything related to this incident. Randy is our brother and we assure you, we are all staying very positive for him, working endlessly behind the scenes to provide any and all assistance possible.

"The best we can do is to stay positive and continue to support our friend that we know is innocent. We know that justice will prevail and we will continue to do our part to support our friend."

To help donate to Randy's legal fund, head over to this location. You can also check out an interview about the situation with Lamb of God's manager over here. Further details will be announced as they come to light.

As someone who's been in various bands in my life, I have a bit of an issue with the rest of LoG leaving Czech Republic, leaving Blythe behind.

Ok, I know, life goes on and Randy's a grown up man fully capable of taking care of himself but still, hadn't it been good for Randy to know that one of "his" guys is around until there's a more certainty where the whole thing is going?

Keeping up with this saga is becoming a headache already. Every day that passes, it's 5% news, 95% handwringing.

ZMA, well the guys left Blythe in jail to rot, so yes, most likely they have a replacement sorted out already ;)

Or so it would seem.

With all due respect Wolf, it may very well be a move to keep the rest of them from being taken into custody and costing MORE money in bail. With the way this thing developed, I don't think anything can be taken off the table at this point. It's REALLY looking more and more like a money grab as time goes on.

Yeah, I agree on that point BG. Makes sense and btw, my post#9 was meant in a sarcastic way ;)

But still, I Do feel that one of the guys should have stayed near by (like Germany) in case Blythe isn't feeling too well in this situation. You know, "friends" in the music biz... lawyers are lawyers, bandmates are bandmates.

Oh well, I just read over here in the local news that Blythe is doing great and learning Mongolian!!
No joke.
Apparently Blythe's got a Mongolian cellmate and since they're living together and both gents have a fairly loose schedule in life at the moment, they're teaching each other their native languages.

Sweet.

I'm sure management took a lot of heat for their decision to tour Prague to begin with. It's likely it was a knee jerk reaction when Randy got pinched to get the rest of them safely secured until the dust settles.

LMAO, I didn't believe for a minute that he wouldn't do well to get along wherever he got locked up.

I love this band, but do they really need to setup a donation site to cover legal expenses? They are the biggest and best metal band in the world...surely they don't need financial assistance.

A motion was filed today with the public prosecutor's office to either release him or give back the bail money. We'll see what comes of that.

J&J: There is no longer big money to be made in metal. That went out the door with hair metal. Most of the bands touring the circuit right now rely on merch sales to put fuel in the bus and pay for hotels so that they can enjoy a hot shower at least weekly.

Latest news from aktualne.cz: (translated to English)

The Prague municipal prosecutor filed a complaint against the release of Randy Blythe. Spokesperson Stephanie Zenklova informed the City court that motions should be dealt with via the Municipal court, thus making city court bail inadmissable. The Municipal prosecutor filed this motion on Monday in District court 8, before judge Peter Fassatiho.

I don't know about the Czech republic, but in America if you have a felony charge, your case always goes before district court and not municipal or city court. In that case, though, return his bail money until the district court judge grants him bail.

So, what about "innocent until proven guilty"!? I guess they have some evidence that he's responsible, cause until now all I've read was that either one security guy touched him or something else, no clear evidence what so ever.

Of course it's tragic what happed there, no question. But where's the use in keeping Randy in? It really seems to be some sort of moneygrab or something. f***ing asses, can't believe it.
