I actually bought their debut back in the day when Kerry King recommended it.
.......that was the last time I took a King recommendation seriously.
"I WILL BE HEARD!!!!!!'
....You will be ignored...next.
That and his little rant against the police dept in the notes...Maybe I'm just getting old but I read that and thought...where's your dad and why doesn't he take his belt off?

@dimentian...the only person?
I doubt that.
However...I have stirred up a hornets nest haven't I?
I'll retract...somwhat.
The debut came out how many years ago?
I'm assuming they have matured lyrically over the years.
It wouldn't be very fair to judge Metallica, Megadeth or Slayer by their debuts so I'll back away for a moment.
Tell you what, I'll go listen to one of the more recent albums on Youtube to see if they have progressed at all.
Still, aren't they considered Nu Metal, or some "core" variant? I thought everyone hated that stuff now a days.
I'm sorry but when I hear someone ranting about the cops I just want to scream...THEN POLICE YOUR OWN NEIGHBORHOOD. Next time someone is breaking into your home, YOU DEAL WITH IT.
I've never had a problem with the police over the years.
Don't break the law.
And don't be a moron and you'll coexist quite nicely.
Or maybe MN cops are just nicer....I dunno.
I WILL BE HEARD!!!!
WAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!
Sounds like my four year old niece having a tantrum. LOL.
Wanna scare the $hit out of people, put her behind a mike and everyone will be deaf in under a minute. :)
I always thought she'd be the ideal black metal singer. No guy can scream that high or that loud.
If totally getting off track here.
Oh yeah, jazz...what's wrong with jazz?
Meshuggah, Obscura, Gorguts, Vildhjarta all owe some of their sound to jazz, do they not?

R10...Cryptopsy?
Nothing recent thank you lol.
Like I said, getting totally off topic but I'm also getting totally buzzed...early weekend. \m/...later....chug, chug, chuga indeed R10. :)

Im one of the few BrianMn that defended Unspoken King. Certainly wasnt as bad as all those who made it out to be. Certainly not as bad as that abomination that Morbid Angel released a year ago. Killa Cop,killa cop,dun,dun,dun... Hatebreeds first,"Satisfaction is the Death of Desire",is to me a classic. Still gets repeated listens for me.

I'm with BrianMN on this one (make it two dimentian!), I've have never been a Hatebreed fan. I have vivid painful memories of being a teenager and paying $30 for "The Rise of Brutality" on recommendation from someone seemingly knowledgable, and it being the first time I had a real disappointment with something in the 'metal' realm.

Also MN, don't get me down about Cryptopsy, I still cling to fragile hopes for their next album!

I remember when they got super popular real quick. I took a listen to their stuff, seeing their videos on tv more often than not and.... all I heard was "we will stand" and "blah blah brothers blah blah" and "rah rah family anger anger."

Again and again and again and again.

If you like them, cool. Go on with your bad self. However, I just don't see "it."

@12 Braindrill???
I'd be impressed with Drill if they could write an actual song instead of a bunch of randomly swept notes.
As far as their "image".....hmmm....Cannibal Corpse anyone?
And I'll apologize again...I'm not one to usually start in on bands I don't like but for some reason Jasta just annoys me to no end. He's kind of like the non Satanic version of Glen Benton. When you prop yourself up like you're the world's biggest hard a$$ then turn around and cry the the police are being mean to you...COMON.
As far as that line in BrainDrill
"Without those guns in your hands, you're all a bunch of cowards."
Tell that to all the men and women that have given their lives in the line of duty and would gladly do it even for an ingrate like you.
I'll tell you a little story....many years ago my next door neighbor who had Muscular Dystrophy was broken into during the daytime.
He was severely beaten by four guys. FOUR.
The guy already walked with a walker and these four scumbags put him in a chair.
When the cops got there one of them was hiding under a car, with a LITERAL load of $hit in his pants.
That's how "tough" these guys really are.
They have no problem beating up a cripple but when the cops show up they literally crap in their pants.
My neighbor had a massive stroke a few weeks after the attack and died.
THIS is why I have no respect for people like Jasta.
You can write your stupid little lyrics and pretend your some kind of world class bad ass, but just ONCE step into the ring with one old fat cop. I guarantee, like Benton when he got beat up by PETA, Jasta would crawl into the fetal position and bawl his head off.
There's your big tough guy for you.
I do understand a lot of our laws are bull and there are a lot of bad cops out there.
But remember, metal heads come in all colors, even blue.
If people by the time they reach their mid 20's to 30's can't obey simple laws without getting their a$$es kicked then they obviously need some cognitive training.
Oh yeah, I'm supposed to be listening to Hatebreeds latest...let you know what I think later.
Maybe Jamey has grown up over the years, I certainly hope so.
It's kind of like Metallica trying to act metal and look intimidating....it was cool 20 years ago but now it's like one of my older cousins acting like this in public.....embarrassing.

"Without those guns in your hands, you're all a bunch of cowards." Try saying that about our english cops who have no guns.
As for hatebreed i think people are looking into this f*** the police thing to much, it was written in on there earlyier album, i can see, hear and read that hatebreed have grown over the years.
Yes the lyrics can sometimes be a lil repetitive in theme or seem childish but f***in hell man this band rocks.
I remember getting into metal and hearing these guys "chung chung chung" as the 1st "hardcore" band id heard and it blew me away.
Destroy everything, simple lyrics simple guitar but makes for a f***in brutally awesome some

Ohh and people hating on jasta himself thats not cool. Love him or hate him his done more for the world of metal than loads of hugh bands.
On headbangers ball he was promoting metal helping to get bands like sworn enemy, full blown chaos even trivium in the earlier days more known, Giving metal heads decent music on the abonination that is m.t.v2.
Hes toured for charity worked along side some legendary artists. The guys a machine

Am I reading too much into it?
Probably. But if there's one thing about metal I hate it's the whole "macho" act. Talk about posers.
And I'll leave Jasta out of this since it's rampant in the metal community.
Anselmo.
Benton.
King.
Its a lot like Mustaine and his religious/political ranting.
Just shut up and play your music.
I did go listen to Hate's Rise of Brutality and...
Meh, I can see why folks like it.
It's a little too much "professional wrestling" for my tastes.
I did however like their cover of Obituary's I'm in Pain.
THAT was good.
So once again, I'll apologize to anyone offended by earlier remarks as I don't usually rant about stuff I don't like.
Wait a minute...I wasn't ranting I was just making fun of them....
I WILL BE HEARD!!!!
LOL, It still cracks me up, sue me.
