King Diamond Announces Return To The Stage

Metal legend King Diamond will return to playing concerts. The official King Diamond/Mercyful Fate Website, Coven Worldwide, issued a statement regarding new booking agents. King Diamond will use Nick Storch at ICM for booking concerts in North and South America, and Paul Ryan of the Agency Group to book Europe and the Rest of the World.
King comments:
“It is great to be in the top professional hands of Nick and Paul. They both come highly recommended by Brian Slagel of Metal Blade, who personally suggested the partnership that is now in effect. ICM and The Agency Group have so much combined experience, which will open new doors for us. When it comes to getting us back on stage again, we all agree on how to bring King Diamond to a whole new level. Within a few weeks, we should be able to announce the first part of our plan. WELCOME ON BOARD AND STAY HEAVY.”
King Diamond adds: “There’ll be a lot more great news coming the next couple of weeks. It’s been difficult keeping everything under wraps, but soon it will all be out in the open.
I want to thank you for your amazing patience. We will get back to the Skype sessions in not too long as well.”
King Diamond last released "Give Me Your Soul" in 2007. Due to issues related to a herniated disc, he canceled a North American tour with Kreator and has not announced any new tour plans. King experienced further draw backs when he underwent Triple Bypas Surgery in December 2010.

This is pretty interesting news. I've never been much of a fan of him or Mercyful Fate. Mad respect though. The only song I really know from him or MF is the song Jay & Silent Bob were listening to in Clerks 2. I think it's "Welcome Home."
I'd definitely give a new album a listen if they came out with one though. I feel like that's the big news. Some sort of new album.

Redundancy can have its place brother ;)
This dude is STILL so underappreciated by the wider metal audience its disgusting...especially when the majority of these uninformed people are enthusiastic fans of the massive pile of bands that has begged, stolen, or borrowed at least a thing or two from the King at some point.
Hell, even Zman, whom I consider a pretty dedicated young metalhead, has only ever heard ONE song! Amazing...and it obviously ain't really his fault
There are simply not enough of us out there "singing the praises of the King" :)

To true HR - I take that back, KD deserves 10x the amount of praise. He's one of the most metal people in metal, never backed down or sold out, was evil as hell before it was just the standard metal thing to do, pioneered corpse paint, and probably one of the only people in metal who can pull off both a top hat and a moustache.
And that's not even starting on the actual music.

I haven't been to a King Diamond/Mercyful Fate in twelve years. I last saw him during the "House of God" tour in Grand Rapids, MI. I missed the next time he came my way, which was in California on the Puppet Master tour in '05. I was bummed about his canceling the tour with Kreator, two of my top-ten favorite artists on one bill!

King Diamond is such a talented singer and songwriter and has also influenced two decades worth of heavy metal and even black metal bands.
Hopefully this time away for reasons beyond his control will have his batteries charged and his creative abilities even more burning with that creative spark to write some memorable stuff, which was quite prevalent on Them and The Conspiracy records.
