carolina metal scene: im in charlotte nc, and will say that skinkage has some good talent, but plz dont spam our beautiful site trying to promote them. get with Deathbringer about getting them featured. spamming threads wil make people ignore you and your promoting.
where are you located, NC or SC?!

Just wanted to say thank you to all the people who are sharing comments on the Skinkage video "The Token Of America". I've been fortunate enough to be a part of this band & I speak on behalf of all the members in this band (Travis, Frank, Juston, & David) when i say we value your input wether it's good or bad... at least your being honest & real about it. Hope we get to meet some of u guys at a show or otherwise! Cheers! \m/

I don't mind the negative comments. I was just making a genuine statement to the people who viewed the video. U'll have negative comments sometimes but that's just part of it.. A friend of ours (Corey Bradley) posted the video for us because he is a supporter of all metal bands in the triad area & enjoys this song. Hopefully these are real comments from more than one person but i'm not sure about that since we did'nt post the vid ourselves. I think this a pretty cool site because they allow people to share music & opinions with each other. If u have a band or some recorded tracks i'd like to here them cause i'm always trying to find good material to listen to.

I find it hilarious that some ppl dis this video and Skinkage as a band when these so-called "metal heads" have probably never been to a real metal concert or even listen to real metal, let alone even know how to play a single instrument. I love Skinkage as a band and love being able to call them my friends and second family. Every new band has to start somewhere, I.e. low budget tracks and vids. If u have been fortunate enough to see them live then u know how good they are and how far they are gonna go one day. They are doing what they love to do and obviously they have fans that already love them enough to put a video on here to hopefully spread their talent around for REAL metal heads to enjoy. And Peavy... all comments should be taken into consideration but not from dumbass's. Love u, cory, frank, red, Dave, and duck! Keep up the awesome work!

^^ and spectulative judgement as a way to dismiss others' opinions and imply they must not be real metalheads only lessens your own opinion. So stick to supporting the band if you like them and not putting others down whom you haven't even engaged in conversation.

song was awesome, but the minute long intro went a little too far. i get the message you were trying to send, now shorten it up lol.
lol, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11 are all the same guy. thats pretty sad whoever you are. :P
piny_pinky, you can put standards on how to be a "true metalhead" but by doing so you remove your title as one. if you could please f*** off with your degrading statements, that would be lovely. you seem to think knowing the band puts you on a level above everyone else, when clearly nobody gives a f***.

24. writes:
The intro was too long. Why would you have wood on your equipment? Is this how you left the equipment there the last time it was played on? Just to push it off to look like tough guys? It did not make a lot of since. Most of the camera shots last too long.. Editing flaw.... Too many straight forward shots of the band. Even if the location changed in the run down building ... The camera angles were mostly straight forward / full band shots / distant full band shots. I would advise for the next video to try short very choppy faster changing clips, more camera panning, zooming in/out while filming ect... The singing parts seemed a little odd / out of place / sound like a mouth full of marshmellows. The music and heavy vocals sound good / acceptable in this guys opinion.

Yeah to the guy who made all the posts acting like different fans :
A: If you are a fan, you just made the band you like... look pathetic like they need their fans to do such things to seem popular.. Its a sh**ty thing to do.
B: If you are in that band you are pathetic and sh**ty and dumb to do such a thing and not know one click of the "IP Logged" link would expose you as the same person RETARD! Even if someone sees this and likes it.. They may be turned away from the band with such attempted deception involved in the pushing of the band.
Tis sad. Looks bad. Doubt fans will be gained with this post guys.

I've seen bands all over the Carolinas. These guys work like dogs, put on a badass show and are genuinely great dudes. And I refuse to take any sh** from anyone from Seattle. Go jerk it at Cobains gravesite you grunge coffee drinking p***y. These guys have talent. Most importantly, they have a message. Southern goddamn heavy motherf***ing metal son. Enjoy it. And your welcome.

SkinKage rocks with the new lineup. Jamie King did an excellent job on the recordings too. dont understand why so many people hate on them when they have been around longer than most every band in the area and have stayed strong. got to give them props. to all the haters you are entitled to your own opinion but i still think you suck balls for being so negative . probably have never touched an instrument or been on stage for that matter either. jealousy is a sign of weakness

36. writes:
This might be one of the funniest bands/threads ever on this site. I can totally see them getting all worked up over a news post since it's the only credible site that mentioned them.
"Dude can you go comment on there and defend us, and like tell as many people as you can to go there and comment on our behalf?"
Everything from the music to the way they dance in the video is just so laughable to me. Like someone just showed em a couple Lamb of God songs and they were like "sweet let's start a band!"
I'm sure they are each good and talented people, but when you present it as a whole in such a ridiculous, immature, unoriginal package...it just ruins any and all credibility you had or sought out.
Seriously, think about it. Do you REALLY think this band will be headlining huge tours and showing up on all the metal websites, magazines, etc...? Or is more realistic that they will just end up in the same pool of millions of local bands that look and sound exactly the same with nothing new to offer?
It's harsh, but it's the truth. This isn't about jealousy or hating or anything. It's just the simple truth. No matter how hard they try, touring around eating ham and cheese with the same old "we spent years on the road earning our dues" sob stories...they will not go anywhere past this thread looking and sounding like they do.
That's just an opinion formed after seeing and hearing them. Then to make matters worse you get to see who supports this band...a bunch of immature biased cry babies who define the word hypocrite.

"he took half of his FB post and then added all the negative to the end. what a loser............"
At least im not hiding behind a fake screen name Cory. I welcome you to call me a loser to my face little fellah. I think the real losers are the ones who have nothing better to do than troll forums and critisize everything. Get a life. Until you are in a successful band for 7+ years with a huge following I dont think your opinion really matters.

38. writes:
I really hope this person is ignorant enough to think someone else is writing this stuff hahaha
I actually don't have anything better to do today because it's a Sunday and I worked my a$$ off all week.
You should also think before you assume anyone making a negative comment is someone who has no life. You'd be surprised. There are people who actually play in bigger bands who interact on this site.
It's also very obvious and sad that anyone making threats to someone else via a website is quite childish and pathetic. Discussion is welcome on this site, but not idiotic threats.
Oh and lying is also frowned upon. Saying this is a successful band for 7 years with a huge following, yet they still need to hire cronies to comment and support their only news post on a major metal site? Yeah they sure are the next Slayer.

42. writes:
# 36 your right they don't have anything to offer as far as original stuff goes , they have a generic sound and they just have a bunch of people that kiss there a$$ , the same 40 fans or should i say drunks follow them around from show to show . ill give kudos when they write something worth a sh**

I would like to ask our friends & fans not to try to defend us or make comments towards anyone with something negative to say on this site. This only causes problems. We appreciate our video being posted because we are just trying to put ourselves out there like any other band who is passionate about what they do. The last thing we want is drama on such a great website. ALL comments good or bad are appreciated buy all of us in skinkage & we would like to thank Deathbringer for allowing us to be part of this site! \m/

Not a bad song. It sounds like some people just overreacted against the over-promotion of the band by some commenters here, especially the spammer who posted multiple comments trying to masquerade as different people. That's a douche move, but let's not take it out on the band.

THIS IS GETTING WAY TOO HYSTERICAL FOR ME TO TAKE SEROIUSLY YA'LL - BRANDEDCFH420 - BRIAN RIGHT ? - I'M OUT OF CHARLOTTE MYSELF - GO TO SHOWS IN CHARLOTTE - COLUMBIA - SPARTANBURG - GREENSBORO - RALIEGH - I HELP BANDS OUT WITHOUT ANY MONETARY COMPENSATION - JUST FOR THE LOVE OF METAL - IS IT WRONG TO MENTION YOUR INTEREST IN A BAND ON A SITE - DOES THAT MAKE IT SPAM ??? - ISN''T THAT WHAT THIS MEDIUM IS FOR ?? - TO DISCUSS YOUR LIKES AND DISLIKES OF BANDS - WOULDN'T DEATHBRINGER HAVE DELETED MY POSTS IF I WAS SPAMMING ??? - HOPE TO SEE YA AT A SHOW SO WE CAN ROCK OUT TO THESE GUYS AND DOWN A FEW BEERS AND LAUGH ABOUT THIS
48. writes:
i also help bands without $$$ compensation, so we r both on the same level. the spamming wasnt you it was the person that made numerous posts trying to be different people. my post said stop spamming but it wasnt directed at you, although it looks that way. as i said, i think its a good song, and cant wait to see them live in charlotte. i usually go to either Tremont Music Hall or Amos southend for shows, although The Fillmore has gotten my money a bit recently!!
53. writes:
Hello all. Well dammit. I thought they were original post!! LOL! We appreciate our friends and fans defending us, but there is no need. As Peavy stated, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. And good as well as bad, are all welcomed. Just know the spammed one had nothing to do with us, as we did not post our video on this incredible metal website. If you do dislike the song, there is a whole record released "Away with the tide" that has heavier, faster, more melodic and less melodic on it. You cant judge a band based on one song. everything has been done before, you just have to be sure your own songs stand apart as different from one another. Which we have. And I dont feel you should bash a video or talk sh** about it. If your in a band, you know the excessive cost of everything. We are very happy with ut as its our first, and we can only expect the next to be even better. Thanks to all the comments, and if you have time go to our website and listen to more tunes. Thanks again and cheer.. keep rocking guys.

Actually you can very well judge a band on one song. That's what listeners do, and record companies as well. If they hear a bad song or see a bad video, do you think it's going to lead to them saying "hmm I should really listen to everything they have done to make sure it really sucks."
Also, you claim everyone is entitled to their own opinion yet tell people not to talk badly about a video?
Your really just making things worse. Here's a helpful piece of advice, dont get involved with comment wars regarding your music. It makes you look unprofessional, immature, and pathetic. People are going to say what they want regardless of you, and you can't change everyone's minds.
To make matters worse, you claim everything has been done before and just make sure your songs sound different. If that's not a bad promotional statement I don't know what is. That's like saying "ehh we aren't anything you haven't heard before".
Your comments are better suited to a blog or twitter feed of your own. Somewhere that your fans who actually give a crap can socialize without having to try and force feed and defend music to people like me who don't want to hear it.
If this is how you deal with negative press, you have a LONG road ahead. You should have much bigger and better things to do with your bands time than try and defend negative comments on a news site.

While l dont hate this song, its definately nothing groundbreaking or origional. This band probably entertains smaller clubs and bars with thier style. Every town across the US has a few bands thinking theyll hit it big and become rockstars. Questainable, shady, and tacky marketing ploy with all the bogus statements proffessing these guys greatness. And im really fvckin sick of people who throw around the word hater when someone disagrees with them.

I don't really care about this argument and I don't like groove or core, but I have a different point to everyone who is digging into this band for not being a household name:
You don't think Mastodon or Lamb of God or any other huge name in metal now didn't have humble beginnings? You think every band doesn't start out affording what they can? This is metal underground, complaining about the video not costing 20 grand is lame. And just to show I don't care about sides the same goes for the weak ad hominem in post 37.

61. writes:
I don't think Mastodon or any of the bigger bands spent their time arguing or trying to promote on a metal news post. I also think those bigger bands had much more to offer in their sound and vision. That's why they actually went somewhere, because their sound was unique and they had something that hasn't been done before. I could shoot a better video for 20 dollars. It's all about creativity and what you do with it. If nobody stands up and expresses their thoughts on bands like this that just copy each other, eventually we are just going to be inundated with sh**ty bands. Oh wait, we all ready are.
62. writes:
The first releases from Lethargy? Burn The Priest? Those bigger names got somewhere because they ignored people like you and developed into unique bands, not because they were magically inspired to write "Leviathan" seconds after picking up a guitar.
I'm not saying you shouldn't call them out as rubbish if that's what you think, go for it. I just think all the snide comments in this thread towards bands that aren't major label names is bullsh**.

63. writes:
Still doubt any of those bands got into comment wars over stupid stuff. Still doubt this band has material worthy of a unique and long lasting career.
See how angry people get when someone voices their opinion? I never said anything about them not being a major label band. Your letting your anger cloud your statements.
Oh and by the way, you just made my point even clearer...
"Those bigger names got somewhere because they ignored people like you and developed into unique bands"
Which is exactly what this band is not doing. Thanks :-)

These guys have a dedicated crew of "street teamers" thats for damn sure. Have nothing against the band, only the persistant "advertising" from the street team. This topic is approaching comment levels reserved for the true greats like AX7. Streat team,we get the point, you like this band.
70. writes:
Specifically posts 36, 37, 42, 56 all talked down to smaller and underground bands. If you actually read what I posted I never called you out specifically. If I proved your point great, but as I've repeated it didn't have anything to do with what I was saying.

Oops,ya caught me Cynic,a beardo scenester i am! No beef with ya guy,but i believe i said i didnt hate the song, had nothing against the band. Sorry guy, have supported underground metal for a long time;long before it became "fashionable" to do so. Love most of its sub-genres,including some of that hated "core" stuff which is so "fashionably" hated upon nowadays. Again,no beef. BTW,i did happen to see Mastodon on the "Leviathon" tour to a less than "capacity" couple hundred, long before any "hipster" ever heard of them.
74. writes:
R10 - Ha, I wasn't digging on you man I just wanted to make sure the collective sentiment in this thread wasn't directed to small or underground bands as a whole. Everybody has to start somewhere, and that's normally somewhere humble no matter who you are.
branded - Not in the near future unfortunately. Kyuss cancelled their gig which was gutting, apart from that there's just a bunch of crappy local metalcore bands touring. I prefer going to punk shows to be honest, they're usually better quality.
75. writes:
Hear ya Cynic. Just wanted to make sure i didnt confuse anyone with my opinions. Fully support the underground,in fact i thrive on seeing that kinda stuff live. Always searching for bands that "walk the plank" and dare do something differant contrary to whats "in". Dont get overly carried away with sub genre tags, been around too long to know things are "in today, out tommorrow". So i do know how things work in metal. Here in my area, most young unsigned bands are playing the death core stuff, who knows ,in a couple of years it could be djent,re thrash or whatever sub genre is looked favourably upon. Hey,did i tell you skinkages song werent too bad?

For example, when the topic finally disappears off the "latest comments" list indicating the people involved in a typically unpopular news post are through sharing their comments, and all of the sudden out of the blue someone magically shows up JUST to say "yeah guys this is stupid" and blammo there it is back on top of the latest comments list.
