Metallica Announces Plan To Record Secret Project In May

Speaking recently to Rolling Stone, Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett revealed that the band would be entering the studio in May to record a new project. "We want to record it in two weeks," guitarist Kirk Hammett tells Rolling Stone.

He went on to state, "We had planned on doing it in March, but we pushed it back to May. I don't want to give too much away, but it's not really 100 percent a Metallica record. It's a recording project, let's put it that way. Without getting too deep into it, it's more a recording project than a bona fide Metallica album. Whether or not we can pull it off in just two weeks remains to be seen."

i can already think about what kinds of negative comments this will get. things like "gee i hope it's so much of a secret i never find out about it". the fact of the matter is, i think this album will be something the naysayers have been b****ing for: pure, unadulterated metallica without all the time-consuming frills.

I reckon it'll be a re-recording of old material. We'll see though.

nah, covers...covers of legit tunes they think will win them back the favor of their alienated old school fans

but it will be nothing more than a chop shop hackfest...yes, just a full on bloody fvcking butchery

or maybe it will be a 'collaboration' ...ya know, a goddamned circle jerk with some other pathetic fvcking losers

I wouldnt mind another Garage Inc - it was a pretty good album even without being original music from Metallica.

yeah, most likely a covers album of some sort... why r they even wasting their time on stuff like this? its not like if anybody is gonna go buy that garbage anyway, the way i see it ... NOBODY cared enough to even give their last album DEATH MAGNETIC a chance, do they really think some two week recording of covers or whatever it is, is even gonna get noticed??

two weeks? pfft i doubt they can do it dream theater style... getting jame's vox down that'll be interesting...

I kid though, they can probably do a live recording in two weeks that they've been rehearsing for the past few years... or it'll be covers that they've known how to play forever...

Maybe they are going back to Load and Reload sound or maybe a childrens album or maybe there going to go ska/regga/punk or maybe it will be them individually apologizing for wasting our time hoping they could right something good again for the last 20 odd years then the sound of them shooting themselves ... I'd buy that :)

diamond oz you could be right, could be a re-recording, if its gona be done in 2 weeks im going to assume its sh** they can already play because i cant see them writing new stuff in that short period of time (they arent exactly well known for being able to do that)
the other obvious option is its another covers album, but who knows..

haha branded you sure got a chip on your shoulder, did lars f*** your gf or somethin?
