Swedish progressive death metal act Opeth has issued the following announcement about gearing up to enter the recording studio:

"Opeth to enter studio in January 2011. That's right! Opeth will start the recording of their 10th album on the 31st of January 2011. The band has picked the legendary Atlantis studios (ex Metronome studios) in Stockholm and will once again work with Jens Bogren engineering.

"Mixing duties will be handled by Steven Wilson (Porcupine tree). Possible release worldwide in the fall of 2011, through Roadrunner Records. The new material has been described by the band as being 'good'."

Very excited for new Opeth, hoping they return more to their roots then the direction they took with Watershed. Before I'm slammed, Watershed was quality work, I just happen to enjoy the Still Life/My Arms Your Hearse sound much more.

Watershed was beyond horrible in my opinion. Im hopeing its something more laong the lines of Morningrise/Still Life (probably not going to happen) or something really weird like with that God of War track

Some Wilson contributions (as heard in Blackwater Park, Deliverance and Damnation) would of course, also be welcome :)

Opeth's earlier work (pre-BWP) is sub-par and undefined compared to their post-BWP stuff. Can't wait for the new album.
