The organizers of New York's TMT Metal Fest have issued the following statement about rumors of bands dropping off the bill:
"Well folks, Contrary to whatever idiots out there in metal land that are saying that any of the National Acts on the Fest are dropping out is a complete lie! I say this! Fuck them all! They are just weak ass haters with nothing else better to do. So if you want to listen to whomever, then go right ahead & sit home!"
The festival is set to take place from September 24th - 26th, 2010 in Middletown, New York. Announced bands for the lineup include Goatwhore, Suffocation, Otep, Winds of Plague, Carnifex, and more.

Yes the whole thing turned into a free for all. It was sad. I think the only band that actually got paid was Mushroomhead. Even Metal Sanaz was like, what the hell? It was awful to see all the staging, all the people trying to make it happen and then everyone getting screwed. Thats ok though. What you do comes back.

My black metal band Mythology was in talks with the promoter, Randeze. He wanted $1,000 up front for this concert. NEVER PAY-TO-PLAY! Also, does anyone remember what happened in 2008? Over 40-50 bands were charged $500 to play TMT, and the show never happened due to "venue problems." Randeze disappeared for a while, guess he went to jail or something. I found other bands that were trying to put together a class action suit to get their money back. I doubt they ever did. Bottom line... never pay to play ESPECIALLY in the middle of f***ing nowhere NY.

I guess TMT Fest was more of a TMT Flop, lol. Glad I didn't waste my time or money going to that show, or should I say No Show....... Randeze (real name I understand is Ken Randisi or Randissi) needs to get out of the business and find some other way to earn money. TMT should have gotten a clue the first time they failed, I guess they don't know the term "Lessons Learned" but I am betting anyone and everyone who was at or involved with this fest knows it now.

Well, many bands out there now know WHO to avoid when booking their shows, as well as WHO NOT to pay up front, for ANYTHING.
I wonder if the band mentioned earlier (who played for seven people) got free festival t-shirts or whatever.

All that sentence means is that they were probably given a deposit to show up. So yea, technically they were paid - something. So you're not actually lying with what you said, only giving a partial version of the truth.

Things aren't bad in America for Metal. Progpower does a fine job every year, and so do somany other promoters. They don't usually have to bullsh** anyone, either.
If you did your "best", more people would have heard about it. It's called ADVERTISING.
As far as "if you can do better" - well, by TMT's responses (SO professional) it's obvious that other people can do better. (The TMT turnout is pretty much a guarantee that a one eyed monkey could do better)
Security guard number 5 - please tell us more about him "fleeing the scene". I'm sure all the bands that paid would like to hear more...

Thank you to the TMT Festival team for putting on a great festival. The size of the venue and the facilities were certainly all anyone could ask for and more. No stone was left unturned. Lights, sound, stage, security, VIP, camping, facilities, concessions, etc... it all was there and under control. We were glad to be part of it and have made many contacts though the event with bands and fans. We also made a lot of friends from across the USA. Even the weather was excellent the entire weekend. Hopefully all who attended can can find positive things to take from it and will continue to support these in the future. Metal needs them!

We performed at TMT Metal Fest, I am not Randeze... lol if you dont believe me you can shoot me a message or email. That being said, I have spoken with Randeze several times leading up to the festival. He was always straight up with me from square one. We are a working band, and most of us have been around the scene for 15 years, we can spot a fraud. If we had felt at any time this was a scam we would have never showed up and considered this a loss. Truth is, Randeze is no different then you or me. He is first and foremost a "FAN" and HUGE supporter of Heavy "f*cking" Metal!! He loves it, and with every resource available to him, he was gonna give something back. He put together a Metal Festival for the true fans of Metal, not to get rich or make a buck off anyone. This was a chance for fans of heavy metal to come together and bang are heads and drink sh*t tons of beer, and just rage all f'ing weekend. Listen, the guy loves Metal so much, he started a company and a free web show dedicated to getting the music out there to the people.... his people! I was there, we stayed the entire weekend, we played on the massive stages and ate the guys food. He provided everything he said he would and more. Even on the third day when it was clear that this festival was doomed, he did not cut cost or skimp on the provisions for the bands.. he came through and made sure everyone was taken care of.. even though it could ultimately cost him everything he has. Randeze did not let the Metal Community down.. THE METAL COMMUNITY LET HIM DOWN!!!! People don't put together festivals in the US because they have trouble pulling in sponsors and commercial support. Just ask Sharon Osbourne. You need sponsors to step up and say "yeah, this sounds like something the fans would really be in to and the potential to make some money." But in this day and age it comes down to profit and greed, and if a company doesn't feel like they have anything to gain from pushing their product at a Metal Festival then you get no support. That didnt stop this guy, he decided f*ck them and put the entire weight financially on his back. If the festival failed, then he would lose everything. Even when facing that reality he pushed on and through blind faith in his metal family, he would see this vision come true.
We let him down, plain and simple. Blame yourselves! If you knew about this festival and just waited at your computer to gloat about this man's failure instead of buying a ticket and coming down there and trying to support heavy metal, then you're the piece of sh*t and there should be a "line at your door" to kick your a55. The guy lost everything he had trying to support the one thing in this world he loved above all else and you mock his failure??? You people are F*CKING COWARDS!!
In closing I wanna thank the 500 or so people that did show up and support the bands at both the local stages and the nationals, you are the TRUE fans of metal and we thank you for being apart of something bigger then yourselves. For the rest of you, we are Last Red Ember, we are heavy metal! We will support it in any form its presents it self to us.

Quite probably every dollar he sucked out of unsuspecting (and now wiser) bands was what he expected to bankroll everything, and so many adoring fans were going to come and make up the rest through ticket sales. It was his grand scheme all along.
I'm sure that he actually expected 5,000 people to show up, Just because he opened that gates!
Obviously there is so much more to it than TMT or anyone else will ever know, or in Randeze's case - admit to.
I would hope that other people that worked there (not just security guards) would come forward to this forum.
It would be nice to hear from the caterer and everyone else who was supposed to be paid.
Anyway, I say keep this thread going until all questions are answered.

For my band Komtra,....us along with many other locals paid serious f***ing money into this thing, knowing it seamed a bit shady but f*** it might have been a great opportunity to build our resume playing with nationals we all know and love on the biggest stage of our lives. We forked over $1,600, the beer cooler was always empty, the "food" the entire saturday was cold rotting ziti covered in fly sh**, AND most importantly, NOONE came, not even for the bigger names. We should get some kind of refund its bullsh** we didnt fork over $1,600 f***ing dollars to play for security, reps from labels came up to see us perform in front of a huge crowd,not a ghost town, this was for our carears and were left broke and screwed, thanks alot. we will not be participating in this anymore
