Really SS is alright but they have nothing new to offer for me. Grunt scream break down it has been done. The only deathcore bands that are any good for me are the red cord, TBDM, Whitechapel kida, winds of plauge kinda. Besides them its all been done before. The drumming was kida repetive the guitar work was basic as f*** the bass line was the same. If you want to listen to scene music go ahead. But most of you gay a$$ ninjas would not now good metal if it bit you in the ass. lose the tight a$$ pants that make my balls hurt looking at them lose the bright colored shirts. And maby deathcore will be kinda be respected like nu metal. You all think your f***ing metal or 'brootal' because you scream and make pig noises well guess what your not. Almost every f***ing band sounds the same. Go to a f***ing deicide, napalm death, corpse, Dying fetus, suffocation pit and you will find your a$$ on the f***ing floor. Your gay a$$ pits suck. The bands alright but jesus f***ing christ If they all died in a fire there are 100s of other bands that sound the same exact way to take there place. f*** off learn something about metal and then come back. the faceless is heavier than SS. And before you go well just give it a chance I live in NH we get nothing good. All we have is f***ing deathcore and metalcore bands that come up here. And it f***ing sucks.

The advertisement at the top of the page (comes along once in a while) tries to tell me SS new album is ""A savage mix of death metal, grindcore, black metal, hardcore and doom."
However, if it's anything like their last album it should be saying "A quagmire of stolen riffs trying desperately and ultimately failing to be anything but screamy deathcore."

To clear up my point, it's bullsh** that they're trying to fake credibility in the metal scene by not mentioning screamo, deathcore or metalcore. These bands are always complaining "waah don't put us in a box with the deathcore label" - and yet here we are and they are using every decent genre name under the f***ing sun to tag themselves APART from the ones they most belong to.
Misrepresenting bands is the single thing I constantly tirade on and I'll never let up - it wastes my time, money and energy on pathetic bands trying to pass themselves off as something they're not. Grow some balls.

There is quite big difference between deathcore and death metal. Saying this band is death metal is like saying britney spears is a rapper because she has beats and rhymes. That's just f***ing ignorant.

Most people on this planet will say that napalm death, Psycroptic and Cannibal Corpse are horrible excuses for music and nothing but aggressive noise but I will guess to say you like them? Even so, they are still sh**ty. I will justify my opinion of this as best as possible, and if others dont see the point I try to express, then so be it, carry on with your life of having low enough musical standards to accept this garbage.
Breakdown, breakdown, breakdown. the laziest musical tool available to the metal player. you play a riff slowed down, or you hit an open note several times followed by plucking the first or second fret. The drums are nearly as bad. "tiss tiss. boom boom tiss tiss boom boom", but slower than you just read that. I cant hear that and think "wow, that took some effort", because it just plainly didnt. And this band is saturated with that.
then the fact that every riff I've ever heard from this band has a banal "chugga-chugga" sound, that leaves no doubt in it's sound that that riff will shortly therafter be turned into a breakdown later in the song, further making me lose respect for them.
The vocals in the extreme genres of metal, as long as they are above a certain degree of talent and efort, are always people's personal opinions, so that I leave in the air. I persoanlly think the vocalist is not half-bad, but others on here think it's screamo-queer noise. THAT is something that can be left to differing views.
I could go into a detailed argument of why I think this band, and Deahtcore as a whole are ruining death metal, infecting it with posers who know nothing about music and think they are br00tal because they listen to this "heavy as f***" band that displays none of the traits of musicianship that make death metal a respectable genre. However, it would be a waste of time, considering the main person I argue with, is one of those posers who nothing about metal and thinks they do. Trivium is thrash metal? Dont even get me started on that queer band and how un-thrash they are.
Please, read this, I deplore you to at least condescend to my point and see it's validity, even if you dont agree. Even if you continue to like this abnd, at least have the presence of mind to be like post 34, and relaize the faults behind your music.
41. writes:
"A savage mix of death metal, grindcore, black metal, hardcore and doom." That has completely slapped me in the face. All of it. Thats just as bad as when the members of Trivium were wearing Mayhem and Burzum t-shirts. They probably thought Burzum was a cool word and Mayhem as in "lets go cause havoc because we're that hardcore".
Another point I'd like to make:
"pinto_beans as if you have ever even heard suicide silence their brutal as f*** i would love to meet you in one of their pits i would kick the f*** out of you and I wouldnt stop till you died"
Whatever gave the impression that a band making an announcement about a deal with Hot Topic would be as brutal as fvck is beyond human knowledge. Also, one of their pits would consist of a bunch of emo douchebags dancing around though trying to cause as minimal movement as possible as to keep their over-straightened coconut smelling fringe in tact to impress everyother over-straightened coconut smelling fringe bearer. "I wouldnt stop till you died" - No I believe you would stop when your mummy finds you trying to give other boys head in the little emo's bathroom.
The other point would be the fact that this is infecting death metal with a parasite, yet it wouldn't ruin it. This band will be short lived as soon as the hordes of unspeakable faggyness find another genre to ruin. Please to any fvcking thing out there, don't let it be black metal. They already tried making the assumption with their "savage mix". Just, stay mainstream and leave all underground genre's alone. Also, don't try to incorperate screamo with black metal. Ever. Its not a "savage mix" it would just be a life ruiner.

I really wouldn't have a problem with this band if they just left the underground alone. I couldn't care less if 50 pence or Kanye Pest are making a civil commitment to eachother. All I care about is what goes on in my world not theirs. Though these bands bring themselves in to try and show that they "have a rough background because they use to be underground."
Theres a reason why black metal was sucessful enough to make a way of life within a sub-genre, and that was because everyone was sh1tting on them. In the 90's, everywhere you went it was "church burning" this or "Satanic ritual" that. They earnt their sucess and established themselves worthy of underground recognition. What'd these guys have to do? Get their preppy parents to fork out a few hundred dollars for recording sessions? Hang out in tough emo joints and try to make themselves look like they've had a rough time growing up? Please do yourselves and the rest of mother fvcking metal a favour and take your band names advice.
Another point would be that everyone from the early black metal scene sweated blood to release their albums or even to be heard. They worked extremely hard, whereas these guys have found a name by linking up with Hot Topic or any other major sh1thole.
Theres a distinct difference between a death metal vocalist and a black metal vocalist. Usually black metalists will sound more gurgled or raspy, whereas death metalists will be more low pitched and brutal with their vocals. These guys sound like a horde of cats stuck in a fog horn.
At the end of the day, they can go bend over or suck as many record companies off till the cows come home but I really couldn't care less. Just stay out of our world, we'll let you get on with pretending to be little Japanese girls.

All you can really do is just keep the good music you have and look at it as a reminder as what good metal is. When you see a bunch of kids that have corpse paint screaming hail satan because the think it is cool think of darkthrone or meheym. Deathcore is a genre with few prospects for creating decent original metal in my opinion. it's very nature and description is a watered down version of other styles of music. how creative can you get with that? Wind of Plague is good live, and I do find myself digging a few songs now and then, but the instant the breakdowns pop in, I feel like the song is ruined. For some strange reason, i like Salt the Wound, though not so much lately. :P Suicide Silence just makes me feel retarted when I listen to them. And I, like Termie here, have yet to hear any band in the genre that legitimately strikes me as good, let alone fantastic.
I dont care if people like bands in that genre, as long as it's the better bands in it. If you're gonna listen to crap, at least listen to the solid and round healhy looking sh**, not the runny green sh** with blood in it. Yes, a disgusting analogetic metaphor(hehe, anal-ogetic) but still, I think it applies to this band. (SS)

See I have a problem with this statement: "watered down version of other styles of music." Yes, I agree that may be an accurate description of the end product of many deathcore bands, but that's not the premise of the genre. Why the hell would anyone set out to play watered down versions of their two preferred (assuming...I still find profit to be a silly motivator in the metal world) genres? The band's abilities may garner that result but it's unfair to say that's what they were hoping for (not to mention rather absurd).
And I'm still amazed I'm the only All Shall Perish defender on here.
69. writes:
^I havent heard enough All shall perish to say whether they're worth defending or opposing from my standpoint. the few songs I've heard have been fairly decent, however, I say the same for Winds of Plague, and I've come to not really care for them outside of tolerating their songs when my friends play them in the car.
I'll check them out more when I get a chance, right after I check out the other hundred bands I've been meaning to check out. :P
Excuse me when I word my opinion of the genre so crassly. Having come from a mostly deathcore concert a few weeks ago, just so I could see necrophagist, Origin, and Suffocation(although After The Burial was an interesting surprise) my tolerance for the style is approaching nil.
I'm all for musical experimentation. I love the new upsurge of death/thrash, and bands like Hacride, Opeth, and Sol Asunder make me blush with how effortlessly they seem to combine both their prospective heavier styles of music with a more melodic side. I'll even give Nu-metal props for trying some interesting concepts at it's inception. Deathcore, by it's name, infers a mixing of both death metal and harcore, or at least metalcore. For the most part, it does just that. I'll give any genre time to reach it's footings and start creating something interesting, but Deathcore has yet to do that after many year of existence. Keep in mind I use the term "interesting" to imply something that either pushes the boundaries of music in some way, or at the very least, something incredibly unusual. Seeing as how it's borrowing already from two genres, and so far, almost every deathcore band sounds remarkably similar to every other band in the subgenre, they get disqualified from that term by me in both regards.
Show me a deathcore band that does either of those things, and I'll show you an apologetic and surprised FAN.
70. writes:
I have no problem with disliking a genre. I simply want reasonable explanations like I said. To me ASP is what Deathcore should strive for. The guitarwork (granted they recently lost Chris Storey) is superb. The song structures aren't the same (they use breakdowns but...). The vocals are articulated well and the lyrics have meaning. I personally find the drumwork to good. You can actually hear the basslines.
71. writes:
The lacking originality, highly innovative and/or technical aspects aren't what shy me from deathcore. I don't need a band to be Behold...the Arctopus, Nile or Yngwie to draw my intrest and fanship.
With that said, the music simply bores me to tears and since deathcore is "in" right now, all of the local shows are saturated with deathcore bands. Quite frankly, I'm sick of hearing about how "br00tal" the breakdowns are from chugga-chugga scene kids at shows.
72. writes:
This is what I don't like about deathcore - I don't like deathcore artwork, I don't like deathcore guitar tuning, I don't like deathcore breakdowns, I don't like deathcore lyrics, I don't like deathcore solos, I don't like deathcore vocals, I don't like how deathcore is 100x worse live, I don't like the deathcore image, I don't like how deathcore is considered metal, I don't like deathcore songs.
Are there talented instrumentalists in deathcore bands? Absolutely. The music, however, doesn't appeal to me at all. All Shall Perish I'll agree is one of the best deathcore bands, but even the best deathcore still isn't worth my time.
To me, listening to deathcore is the equivelant of eating rotten broccoli - only deathcore is less nutritious.
