Nu-Metal pioners Korn are currently recording two new studio albums with producer Ross Robinson. The first of which is filled with new material and the second will be a covers album. No titles or songs have been revealed yet but stay tuned for further updates.

They started to lose me after the first two albums--I even gave everything up to "Take a Look in the Mirror" a fair spin...but "Y'all Wanna Single?", "Word up" and "Twisted Transistor" were the final rivets in the dead animal's shoe box. Korn were never lyrical powerhouses, or song writing prodigies but that was some decisively bad sh**.

But, if history is any indicator of most bands, once they move away from the sound from the first album they typically don't go back. Finally, I think they should stay away from the covers.

everyone always gets all excited about double albums coming out...........then when they hear them they complain about the filler and wish they had been combined into just one kickass album. in my opinion, the covers cd is automatically filler, so that leaves the album of originals which is probably 1/4 filler itself. korn would be better off releasing one kickass EP.

Damn and here I thought they actually threw in the towel for good. I guess I don't mind Korn once in a blue moon. But what's done is done. Just because all the old greats are reforming and putting out new material doesn't mean they need to be a bunch of copycats. At least wait a decade so we can work on our "pretending to like Korn" dance.

Funny thing, when I first came here in 2004 as a visitor (even before joining or working for the site) Korn threads were a place where absolute, unbridled, anti-Korn hostility met blindly loyal, biased and unreasoning Korn worship/defense...violently.
This held true as recently as a year ago, I wonder what changed.

Korn was the first band to get me into rock music; "Blind", "Falling Away from Me" and "Freak on a Leash" are a few songs that come to mind. I must say that this is the only reason that I consider Korn a relevant band, unfortunately. Even when they were "good" they were still a Nu-Metal band, though they were pioneers in the genre which I can respect them for. At the peak of their career (1996-1999) they possessed originality...something that they haven't had for almost ten years now.
I agree RM?, the Pink Floyd cover was atrocious.

I think that was their 4th album. Thier untitled album is pretty good, but the rest sucks. I thought their 'Brick In The Wall' cover was ok, they did a better job of it than a lot of other bands who have attempted to cover it. And thier cover of 'Word Up' is hilarious... But that has more to do with me having seen the film clip to the original on 'Spicks and Specks' one day... ( That is the one with the big black dude wearing the bright red cod-piece yeah?) hahaha.

There is a reason a band's sound naturally changes over time. New life events, changes in relationships between the band, all of this changes the way you write music. And if you try to force yourself to write a different way than what has always worked well for you, then you might as well make a record of Pip farting on a snare drum. I loved Korn's first 3 albums, but then they started trying to force the music out and you get the occasional cubic zirconium in the pile of excrement instead of another self titled or Life is Peachy.
