why are bands these days releasing cover albums?! honestly, we have heard the songs before, and 90% of the time the original is better than the cover!!

I wonder if this will include new cover songs. Wouldn't it be nice for COB to cover a serious song?!?! I would love to hear them cover something like, Hangar 18,or Ride The Lightning.

awesome! Bodom slays! I really like their Poison cover. I was hoping they would play their Britney Spears cover when they came to Vancouver seeing as how Britney was performing the exact same night in Vancouver.

I hope its a mix... Id like to see them redo some classic metal songs with the bodom sound, and at the same time i like how they cover some very non-metal songs and make them good

I'd like to see them do some 80's covers. No New Wave sh**. Maybe 'Shout at the Devil' That would be a kick a$$ song for them to do. They could make it COB style while still keeping it like the original. Or maybe, 'Welcome to the Jungle' they could do the same with that.

Alice Cooper - Feed My Frankenstein - I know they already did Bed of Nails but this would be right up their alley.

Micheal Jackson - Billy Jean - Now that would be f***ing hilarious!!

Pantera, Metallica or Megadeth????

I'm not much into the COB unless it's corncob we're talking about, but I do think there are a lot of songs out there (the older the better) that are positively ITCHING to be covered by a metal band. My nerdy vote goes to Pointer Sisters. "I'm about to lose control and I think I like it!" - hahah I'd laugh :)

Agree with post 3 though, 90% of the time the original really IS better. I would FAR rather listen to Britney Spears than COB's cover of 'Hit Me One More Time/Whatever that song's called' - and I do NOT like Britney. NOT. ONE. BIT.

Meh, Alexi's guitar playing seems to get sloppier and lazier with each release. Losing their traditional sound.

"hey dude, just cuz Alexi's not doing neoclassical Malmsteen sh** anymore doesn't mean he's getting sloppy.

I may be alone in thinking this, but a lot of the songs Bodom have covered in the past have been total jokes, like Brittany Spears and Andrew W.K. to name a few. So I kinda get an ominous feeling about an all covers Bodom album. Mind you they have covered Slayer and Sepultura in the past too, so maybe this will be good.

Many musicians never get the chance to express thier interpretation of certain songs and I think that with the skills COB offer we should be looking forward to some interesting music, ofcourse like previously said, a lot of the time the cover is actually worse than the original, but I personally am looking forward to hearing it.

Yeah, I found the Britney cover a little weird too, but I thought "talk dirty to me" was more tolerable coming from CoB than Poison. It'll be interesting to see which songs they come up with. Here's hoping for Kenny Loggins "Danger Zone" XD

Yeah except I saw him live and he played sloppy as sh**. He always seems to rely on the same tapping lick he has been famous for on the last 2 albums.

And for the record Malmsteen >; All

^ Chuck is the godfather of Death Metal. Alexi is a gret guitarist too but, you just can't compare em' both. As for the topic...I've heard plenty of COB's cover songs.

Britney Spears - Oops! I Did It Again
Europe - The Final Countdown
Iron Maiden - Aces High & The Trooper
Creedence Clearwater Revival - Lookin' Out My Back Door
The Ramones - Somebody Put Something In My Drink
Poison - Talk Dirty To Me

This isn't a bad idea though.

The only cover I've ever thought was better than the original was a cover of Testaments "Into the Pit" by "The Absence". They added screaming, and a different drum rhythm, and it sounds great. not to mention that the original had really sh**ty recording, so anything in that direction is an improvement.

I just saw it being played live, and it was the best small mosh pit I've been in since Devildriver. At least until Skeltonwitch came on, with EVERY pit being better than the last, and tore the entire place to shreds. lol

^was only a modest fan till I just saw them live. Then I bought a t-shirt because of how awesome they were. A thousand times better in concert, even more true for Skeletonwitch.

One of those bands that translate better live than in the recordings, and those are the bands I find I end up liking best.

CoB definitely has talent, but seriously guys..... the "Rebel Yell", "Oops, I Did It Again", "Looking Out My Back Door", and "We're Not Gonna Take It" really sucked. Out loud! With the skill the guys have, can't they write some better stuff? Almost every band dabbles in covers, and some, like Warrel Dane's cover of "Lucretia, My Reflection" are very good. CoB's originals are much better. I angs.m lloking forward to their next release, un-COVERED list of so

Dillinger Escape Plan did a cover of "Rebel yell" too, and not only was it true to the original, albeit more technically impressive instrumentally, it was hilarious to hear them screaming out the song, in that guys bark thing he does, at the end of the song.
