Daath has announced that they will not be able to play at the House of Blues show in California on their upcoming tour with Cynic and Dragonforce. The band issued the following statement about the cancelation:

"Apparently Disney doesn’t like us very much. We don’t know why, because they wouldn’t tell us but we know they don’t. And how do we know they don’t? Because they kicked us off the April 15th Anaheim House Of Blues show. I’m not going to bother justifying ourselves in light of this. Only thing I can do is give a sincere apology to any of our fans who spent money to come and see us. We will be back in the area very soon I promise."

The band will continue on the Cynic / Dragonforce tour with their appearance April 17th in Boise, Idaho at Knitting Factory and continue for the duration of the tour.

This House of Blues thing is getting out of hand. This has to be illegal on some front.

It seems that house of blues is the only one doing that sh** which I say if they don't want certain bands there then simply state it instead of banning bands from playing there.

Funny that Daath would get dropped but not Cynic. Anyone can feel free to throw out as many "Disney metal" jokes about Dragonforce as they'd like.

I am not sure Disney is to blame. Cynic just played there last month opening for Meshuggah and in 2004 I saw King Diamond with Nile and Behemoth opening at the same venue.
Maybe it is becaue Daath sucks something awful?

Some people don't like them but that's not the point. It's just lame seeing bands getting kicked off of anything without logical reason (if any).

Lol Bruno.

I guess in the end they're trying to save "Disney Supporting Satanic Death Metal" from being in the local headlines of some retarded journo trying to make a name for himself. Man I'm glad MU is free from that sort of sensationalist sh**.

It's more than likely due to Christian ownership. They probably just don't like the name DAATH... Either way, it's f***ing lame and if I were in any of the other bands on the package, I would not play there either...

that sucks. I like DAATH.
And Bruno, you saying Dragonforce is better than DAATH? I dont think so. And DAATH's new stuff sounds much better than their first album, which i admit was not great.

Either way, this bullsh** needs to stop.

it's definitely a Disney thing. the only HOB venues that have any issues with specific bands are the Anaheim and Orlando locations, both on Disney property. I have never heard of a HOB denying a booked artist. Here in Orlando, the Hard Rock does not do this kind of thing and they are on Universal Studios property.
It's all Disney.
