Iron Maiden issued the following statement on their website about a recent train crash in the Czech Republic:

"We have been contacted by Polish News TV about a tragic train crash earlier today on the line from Krakow, Poland to Prague involving a number of fatalities and many casualties. This apparently occurred near Ostrava in the Czech Republic.

"We are shocked and horrified at this news and wish to pass on our heartfelt condolences to the families of those who died and our best hopes and prayers for the rapid recovery of the many injured. Apparently there were many Polish and Czech Maiden fans on board on the way to tonight's concert at the Slavia Football Stadium in Prague, which is why we were contacted and informed of this by the Polish media. I will be discussing with the band how best to pay our respects at the concert tonight, a concert we are dedicating to all of those involved in this horrific incident. We hope that you fans will join us in praying for all those involved."

It's a big world there, Bruce. People are going to die. Some might die in transport and make the news, the rest of us just die at home or in the hospital unrecognized. Write us a song where you don't have to fill in with lame vocals.

Sad to say it but this has got to be there "Detroit Rock City" moment. The rumor is that song is actually about someone that died on the way to a KISS show. Not that KISS compares to MAIDEN but it happend to them in the 70's too.You gotta wonder what that feel's like to a Rock Star?

Wow! That sucks! Rest in peace my brother's and sister's of steel!

I wont pray for them, nor do I care that Maiden are christian. They like everyone are free to believe what they want to.

Bruce would like nothing more than to be crucified by Italy(?!) and worshipped for the next 2,000 years. Don't give him any fuel.

The drummer of maiden is a christian. Their latest songs reveal a spiritual direction. Don't be surprised if they 'pray' for the victims. This is very honorable in my book. God bless maiden and do pray for the families of the victims.

Many of Maidens albums have spiritual content towards the good of God. I love Iron Maiden, and I do feel sorry 4 the victims souls themselves and the families of them. If you don't 'prey' the least one can do is wish them all the best.
