more bandwagon trivium haters that only dislike them because theyre popular. get off your high horse and one day you might realize that just because someone is popular doesnt make them untalented. The cold hard fact of the matter is that while trivium's lyrical content and songwriting are a bit below par (which is to be expected of a younger band like them) they are without a doubt a VERY talented group of musicians with lots of potential and given enough time to mature and refine their sound, could become a major force in the modern metal scene
10. writes:
Inconix - everything you said about them is true. Their songwriting and lyrics are sub par. No one would argue that they are talented, but I would argue that talent alone does not make a band good. It makes them talented and nothing more. I agree there is potential, but what happens if all there is to this band is talent and potential? I would argue that until they live up to their talent and potential, I will be disappointed. Talent doesn't always equate to good songwriting as is evident by their most recent effort. They could be a major force for the metal genre, but they could also be the biggest flop because of all that potential.
11. writes:
I find that Trivium are one of the best new bands about and, while i agree that on the Crusade they sounded more immature in places (Anthem and the Rising are hardly the best songs on my I-POD!), for them to be making what looks like a concept album is a big step up! Lets hope that the "return to the Ascendancy sound" is refined and honed further. I can't wait!
12. writes:
I hate how no matter how you feel about this band, someone thinks they can call you a bandwagon jumper.
They are popular, so if you like them, it's only because they're popular, not cause you legitametely like them. If you hate them, you are a jumper too because a likewise large number of people hate them, so thusly there is no possible way that yo aren't a sheep as well, there's NO WAY you could possibly legitametely hate them of your own free will. The only way you could be following your own opinion it seems, is if you are "okay" with this band, they're "alright"
For the record, I hate these f***ers, and all my friends love them, so how the f*** can I be on a bandwagon, unless somehow people's opinions online are more important than that of the kids I've grown up with? f*** you Iconix.

Ive seen trivium perform here in Australia a couple of times now, and they are definately going to be a leader in their field with the talent they have displayed. Cant wait for the new ablum.
On a different note: This website is great for info on all of my favorite bands, however people lately its turned to sh** due to the amount of people bagging out each other and bands they dont like. If you dont like a band - Why even read a article about them? And even more - why waste you own time writing a comment giving sh** to the band, and its supporters? For someone to dislike a band because they are no longer an 'underground' band and actually sell out shows because they have fans all around the world is very narrow minded.

@hahahah - "For someone to dislike a band because they are no longer an 'underground' band and actually sell out shows because they have fans all around the world is very narrow minded." - True, but care to have the balls to actually mention a user who dislikes Trivium for this reason or are you having fun with your straw man argument?

This is just silly. They are undeniably talented and their songs are emotive and somewhat technical. Definently not something your typical sloth couch potato musician could pull off. So why is there even a debate? If you don't like them......then don't listen to them. I know their leigons of fans understand that. Youuuuuuu listen to music you like, right? I thought that's how it worked but maybe i'm wrong.

Honestly, I'm sick of these a$$holes coming in here once and saying bullsh** that isn't true at all. Like, jumping on the bandwagon and their so talented. Just like Necropolis said, just because a band is talented (which Trivium are, without a doubt) doesn't mean they make good music.
And to their "leigons of fans" (nice spelling by the way), you do understand they lost a TON of fans because of the last album right? I don't think you do. How much did they tour to support the last album? Not much. There's a reason for that.
I like the Ascendency and Ember to Inferno albums. Because of the last album (the name isn't even worth mentioning) and the last time I saw them live, I lost a lot of respect for this band. The last time I saw them live was at Sounds of the Underground in 2006 and I think that's the last time they were in Chicago, although I could be wrong. This is when they switched to the "Metallica" sound and I didn't know it yet. I told a friend that they were good live and I honestly thought they were good before that. They played and I couldn't help but feel embarrased for them and I hated that I said they were good. I had to tell him that they changed. hahah He hated it and walked away.
Yeah, I'm just procrastinating a final paper right now. This is just rambling, I guess. lol

TRIVIUM IS f***ING AWESOME. I WILL ADMIT THAT I THOUGHT "THE CRUSADE" WAS GARBAGE THO. ITS HARD TO RELEASE A BADASS CD RIGHT AFTER YOU HAVE JUST PUT OUT SOME OF THE MOST WICKED sh** RECORDED IN YEARS. ASCENDENCY WAS BY FAR ONE OF THE BEST ALBUMS PUT OUT THAT YEAR. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE WHAT THEY ARE COMING OUT WITH THIS TIME AROUND. IF YOU HAVENT SEEN THEM IN CONCERT YET, WHICH IM SUR MOST OF YOU HATERS HAVENT, U WOULD BE PLEASENTLY SURPRISED BECAUSE THEY HAVE STAGE PRESCENCE OUT THE ASS.

Trivium is reasonably far from my top 10 favorite bands list. I just don't think some of the negative comments posted here are valid Cynic. Given that Trivium is annoying with their Metallica obsession. It seems to me people are hating just for the sake of hating. All the cliche metal out their is getting more and more acceptable but at least Trivium cds explore metal a little more than most bands. I don't go to Nickleback forums saying "I HATE THIS sh**! I HATE THIS sh**! NICKLECRACK IS THE GAYEST BAND EVER!" That's all i'm saying.

Oh and excuse me Mr. grammitical genius Stabbingdrama man. I didn't know this was a spelling Bee. Ember to inferno was all right but the Crusade had it's moments. Definently not album of the year material but I don't think their fanbase decreased all that much. If you actually read up on bands then Heafy says that this album will be more in the Acendancy direction. Ummmm I really know why i'm defending them so much. Check out Born of Osiris!

I like trivium too, it helps people calm down and sleep...wait ! What's that ? Oh ! It's Valium ? Oh ! OK ! Well it does have the same effects you know. But Trivium does have some nasty side effects like : nausea, diarrhea, copycating, depression, a$$ itch and gayness. So stick with valium, it's better for you.

Hehehehehehe, hello p***ycat. you like it soft don't you ? Well if your reference to good music is everybody that makes more money it means that you like : Madonna, Britney, Christina Aguilera, Linkin Park, Ax7, Celine Dion, Zamfire, p***ycat Dolls..ah well the list goes on. and I would like to comply and go f*** off but I do not know off or where he lives. If you have any info please let me know, I'll help you fulfil your dreams of seeing me f*** off. And last time I checked , The Red_chord were NOT trying to be Metallica...
34. writes:
Yeah they're talented, but not very original. They went from generic metalcore to mini-metallica. Yeah they have talent, Travis Smith is a hell of a drummer especially. They just need originality. If this album is original then I may get into Trivium. Their covers are good.
35. writes:
I'm extremely curious about how this album will turn out. They said they're going to be having more "epic" songs, one of which is apparently 13 minutes long. Longer songs is something I'd always hoped they do. Hopefully it won't be a complete flop, but they haven't truly disappointed me yet.

I now know why you folks debate stuff with each other. It's fun! I would give a touche to anyone who proved me wrong though. Though the album titles on Shogun sound kind of cookoo, I believe this album is either going to be really awesome, or really crappy. It's going to make or break Trivium for me and LEIGONS of Trivium fans.
38. writes:
Trivium are all talented musicians, no question about that. I hate the vocals though and always have done, plus I've seen them live twice and wasn't impressed either time. They're not a band I love to hate though, more of a band that I wish I could ignore. I remember when Acendency came out and I had friends that would go on and on about how good it was and be reading magazines with big name metal musicians singing their praises and when I checked it out, I thought it was pretty lame and boring and they borrowed alot of stuff then but moreso from band like Kreator and Sepultura in my opinion. Then when The Crusade came out, they were more or less impossible to ignore because everyone kept going on about them ripping off Metallica or defending them. I don't like Trivium one bit but they'd be much easier to deal with if it wasn't for the hype.
43. writes:
Drewbacca, sorry that I like to be gramatically correct when writing. We get a lot of really young, retarded kids in here that can't spell worth anything. I did read that they are supposedly going back to the Ascendency sound. I just need to hear it for myself. Their last record proved to be completely unoriginal. I did enjoy the music but once the singing came in, I hated it completely. I hope that the new record goes back to the better form but we'll have to see. I never intended to get into an argument, just giving my opinions.
44. writes:
Sorry myself Stabbingthedrama, I was just probably in a pissy mood that day. There are definently an abundance of tards on every forum ever. You are absolutely correct about the Crusade. It just sounds like Trivium covering a Metallica cd that was never created. I think Shogun will be ok as long as they leave out the corny a$$ 80s hair metal songs. So should I buy a Krank Revolution+ or a Peavy 6505 head?
47. writes:
It's all good Drewbacca. Personally, I tried the Peavey 6505 and didn't care for it as much. I went with the Krankenstein. Just go around to music stores and see what your preference is. A lot of people I know prefer the 5150 because it's not too expensive compared to some.
It's funny when people say to go get a job because we're on a website talking about music. Since post 45 took the time to leave a comment as well, I think he/she should go get a job! haha
48. writes:
Agreed STD. The 5150 has a different tone than the 6505. The 5150 being the version modeled after EVH, and the 6505 being their anniversary edition amp. I've read that the 5150 is more expensive because they no longer produce it, as the 6505 is now the model they sell.
In response to 45, if people are posting on the internet on this site, then they have to be paying for internet which means that they have to have money to do so. This would necessitate that someone would have to be earning money to spend it. Therefore, I would have to guess that most people have jobs that post on this site, or live with their parents, but thats another story. I do have a job. I am in grad school and I have a full time job and I still manage to post on this site, so eat me.

trivium are talanted. yes.
good musicians? without a doubt.
i think they could get by just fine without stealing riffs from other bands who are better then them though.
I want trivium to find their own sound, and be original for once without ripping off another band. Call it thrash if you want, but the "epic" asceandancy and ember to enferno was metalcore garbage.

Trivium is the sh**! if you don't like them why even waste your time posting on here?? For all you kids who think your "hardcore" just because you wear tight jeans, sweet wrist bands, and have a pierced lip/nose/eyelid. You can all just die. I know you wouldn't understand because you all are 100 pounds or skin and bones, but when you are getting ready to lift or are trying to get pumped before a football game, this is the stuff to listen to. Makes you want to kill someone.
In conclusion.... TRIVIUM KICKS ASS

funny, i actually liked Ember to Inferno a lot more than Ascendancy and The Crusade. And back when I was listening to ETI, i thought these guys had such enormous potential too. Ascendancy was pretty good, but The Crusade was garbage. I understand the point of changing your sound, even if it is good to begin with. And great bands can pull it off. Trivium cannot, and I believe this new album will blow. They have sold out in favor of sounding more like Metallica after the success Master of Puppets cover went straight to their heads.
That's sad. They won't have a true identity based on the uniqueness of their music because of this. And idiotic fanboys won't see it for whatever stupid reason. While they still clearly have talent, they just don't write any good songs. And it's fine that Heafy doesn't want to scream anymore. But why on earth does he try so damn hard to sound like Hetfield? Write some original material for god's sake.

I am a Trivum Fan I am proud to f*ken say it. people who hate them still look up trivium some way or another.. and they still listen to their records or their songs.. even if its to see what they created. they are just f*ken idiots. they are not going to change the minds of TRUE Trivium fans. If you absolutely despise Trivium then don't listen or don't read anything bout Trivium. Its so ridiculous. Why seek 'em out to bring 'em down..? It won't work. Trivium is here to stay and they are just feeding it..

Why are you all b*tching about the Crusade? Ascendancy and Ember to Inferno were the albums that made me a Trivium fan, although their last one wasn't really good. But anyways, they return to Ascendancy sound, which will hopefully satifsy fans. I don't recall anyone being so negative about Ascendancy and Ember to Inferno. But since they are no longer like they were in "Crusade",all you have to do is wait until Shogun is released, and not just complain about 1 album that wasn't such a success..

let's wait for the new album trivium's fans. I hope it sounds like "ascendancy" .... that was a powerful album and the one that made me trivium's fannnnnn. Crusade was good also but not enough for my expectancies... let's see ultil shogun is released and we'll be in touch later....

WOW this sounds gay. Trivium blows and they should never have labeled themselves thrash. just some more generic mallcore/metalcore. I think its funny how trivium says they are die hard thrash fans, but the bands they name off are obvious. you never hear them talk about exodus, heathen, artillery, sadus, forbidden, dark angel, vio-lence, and so many other great ones that they have never heard of because they are POSERS.
