Disturbed Frontman Calls Hillary Clinton Two-Faced

The German edition of Metal Hammer recently conducted a short interview with DISTURBED frontman David Draiman about the upcoming U.S. presidential elections. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow:

Q: What do you think about the next presidential election in the USA?

Draiman: "This may be the first election in three that I will vote. My heart is with [Democratic presidential candidate Barack] Obama, but my political scientist head knows our country and, unfortunately, I think that the reality of the situation… and it's not necessarily so unfortunate because he is more intelligent, better educated, better speaking and certainly more of a warrior than President Bush ever was and ever will be — [Republican presidential candidate] John McCain. So my heart is with Obama, but my head is with McCain."

Q: How important do you consider a candidate like Barack Obama to be for the USA?

Draiman: "I think that this may be a necessary building block — this election. I think that seeing as much support as somebody like Obama as a black candidate running for president in a country that historically has had issues with the African-American people, and them having issues vice-versa, is a miraculous thing. And the charisma that he has and his propensity to unify people from all walks of life is a truly admirable and beautiful trait. And I think that that's kind of the person that we need to rectify our image on the world stage as well."

Q: What do you think are Barack Obama's chances of winning the election?

Draiman: "I'm rather skeptical as to whether or not Obama will actually win the presidency. I still hope for it, and to be perfectly honest with you, if it comes down to it and he does have the candidacy, he's getting my vote."

On Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton:

Draiman: "I think she's an embarrassment to herself and everything she represents. I think that she's a two-faced liar. I think that she talks out of one side and then talks out of the other, and she shifts with… whatever. She's a true politician. It's not about a cause to her — it's about getting what's for her. And I think that she would do nothing more than to piss off the rest of the world if she became president.

"I would have no problem with a woman as president — I have a problem with Hillary Clinton as president. I think the right woman could be great. She's not the right woman. She's not the right anything. She's just a liar. [Laughs]"

Oh thank God, I was hoping Dave Draiman would tell us what he thought about the election. I can finally sleep. I personally dont really care what he has to say about the election but you know everyone has their opinion and he is entitled to his. I agree with him and also support Obama. So let's let the candidate bashing begin.

Nope, no bashing here. I support Obama as well, but I will vote Clinton if she is the candidate. I fear what McCain might do. Clinton might be a politician but she's a democratic politician.

To be honest, I think all of the politicians are two-faced, and that picking a president is basically trying to pick the best from a group of complete phonies. While I definatly don't see eye-to-eye with every single canidate, I agree the most with McCain, and will probably vote for him in the election.

Kalis, McCain is a Bush supporter. In my opinion, that's worse because you have to actually consider an opinion to agree with it, which is different than going along with an idea. You can follow blindly, but you cannot agree blindly. Clinton isn't the best candidate. I whole heartedly agree with that stance which is why I support Obama. But god damn it I'm not going to put another Bushinite in the whitehouse! You call Bush a bumbling idiot yet support a guy who sang "Bomb, bomb, bomb Iran?" Come on!

It's not so much that McCain has directly supported "Bush" but rather many of his policies including his warmongering and amnesty stances. To me, agreeing on issues is as good as supporting the person. There are many videos about it on YouTube, CNN, MSNBC, stories on the NYTimes site, Washington Post, etc.... I have a feeling my sources will be discredited but aside from conspiracy theorist sites, they're what we have. I do think McCain is more intelligent than Bush, no doubt, but that makes him more of a threat really.

My original pick was John Edwards I should mention.

Anyway, we agree on Obama so let's just pull for him!

In fact Ron Paul has stated repeatedly that he is morally against prostitution or marijuana, but he supports a strict interpretation of the constitution that allows for greater states rights, so if an individual state were to make either of those activitites legal he would not move to have the federal government repeal those laws.

Well Death, I support the war. Not the reasons Bush said we were going to war back in 01, but that something neeeded to be done in Iraq. To be very honest if it did not cause a global nuclear winter would support a complet nuclear bombing of the entire Mid East. Saddam and his sons were horrible people and Al Queda needs to be whiped out. Furthermore women and little girls are now more free than they were under Sadams rule. I hardly think that you would like it if you were made to endure the hardships they were forced to live under. I think that with personal knowlage of the way the millitary works and the fact that McCain knows a ton of the right people would handle the war with ease and grace. I would never think McCain close to Bush as the man did one thing Bush was too much of a whimp to do; join the millitary and serve our country without complaining or trying to doge thd draft.

Blackdog; Ron Paul is a libertarian, like myself, he has his own sense of morals but doesn't believe they should be forced onto the people. He doesn't think smoking marijuana is right but neither does he think that the government should tell people that smoking marijuana is wrong as opposed to the people finding out for themselves if it is wrong. Same goes with prostitution. These are crimes that harm no one else but the people directly involved, Ron Paul may not think/believe that these activities are morally right but that it is UnAmerican to basically force people to believe that they are wrong.

I hear this "Obama will get shot" argument all the time. It makes no sense. I mean Bush is the single most hated president of all time yet he continues to stumble around the Whitehouse. I don't see Obama being assassinated. The only way I see that happening is if both he and his VP are taken out so that we have an unprecedented event and so the last president reclaims the throne, er, I'm sorry position.

And Kalis, answer me this and then I'll be done...When does the killing end? It's not peace or freedom if you have to worry if your place of worship, work or way to school might be blown up. They're not living in any better condition than when we invaded. Al Queda should be stopped, and persacuted, period. Israel isn't our problem and the only reasons we support Israel is one, we have a devoute christian president and Israel must be in christian hands when the second coming happens, and two they're in power. Iranian women are less and less oppressed every day and their power hates us because we're trying to control them.

^people in general don't care if their president f***s up, they just complain or throw up some sort of general dissent against their policies or actions. So Bush, along with any other prez with a low approval rating or track record, is hardly in any sort of danger from the masses, especially with the political apathy in the U.S. these days...

Obama on the other hand, if he is shot, it will have nothing whatsoever to do with his policies. The fact that he is black will assuredly be getting him a majority of the African American vote, simply out of their wish for a black president, without any regard for his views or capabilities in anything.
On the flip side, there is still enough anti-minority sentiments in this country to assure that SOMEONE will attempt to kill Obama should he acheive presidency. The KKK, the Neo-Nazi's, or some other low-brow kin of these groups will at least be holding meetings on how to "stop the Blacks from taking over blah blah blah", you can be sure of that.

Oh, and actually, if the Prez and vice prez both get killed, then the Secretary of Defense takes over I believe, and on down the chain of command, so nobody need worry about 4 more years of Bush, lol.

While neither of these scenarious have never actually happened, it would be interesting if they did becauses if the House or the Senate had a majority of the opposing party of the Executive Office it would effectively switch control of the Executive office to the opposing party.

I disagree, Kali. We're born, then we die. All we have between these events is our thinking and feeling. It seems to me we should put our imagination to use, be creative. Besides, as the Matrix itself constructs, there is no real way to know that what you think is reality is, in fact, reality. And that's probably the most obvious philosophical question of them all- what is reality? If it's what you see and hear, then what are hallucinations? If your vision and hearing can be tricked, then we can't be certain what we see and hear normally aren't also just tricks. In the end, it makes no difference how much philosophising you do, you'll die all the same. But the magic is in the not knowing, the wondering, the questioning, debating and philosophising - what is life, anyway?

There's only one way to learn, and that's to think. So I say use your imagination and if you come up with something good, tell people. Maybe you'll lead them to come up with something further, and eventually, bit by bit, some day someone will figure this crazy puzzle out :)

Think about the election this way: if Hillary gets in, she'll be the spokesperson for the white women of America. If Obama gets in, he'll be the spokesperson for the black women AND the black men of America. That's a two for one deal! hahah. Since Hillary's unlikely to do anything much for the black women of the nation, it's really just a simple question, who do you want to benefit? White women, or black people? Aaaaaaannnnd... that's my take on it :)

xFiruath: thx I was kinda sketchy on the order anyway, been a few years since I read anything concerning the way the government works. That WOULD actually be kinda crazy, since one party usually holds the majority in congress while the other is in the Executive branch, so you could theoretically change party control of the whole country with just a few bullets. Kinda scary in it's prospectiveness actually...

And Kalis says it perfectly about CLinton; Obama may represent the black portion of our country, but Hilary is certaintly the wrong person to say she represents women. I'm all for a woman prez, but not this b****...

I think Bush is crazy like a fox. I think he "gets it" when it comes to the middle east far more than most in Washington. I don't agree with many of the things that he's done. One thing that he's allowed to happen is the devaluation of the US dollar. Democrats will tax and spend. Bush prints money and spends. Either way, we, the people, get it in the wallet.

I agree with Public Execution, above, that all politicians are two-faced, and I'll go so far as to say that 99.9% of them don't give a damn about the citizens they represent... they are too busy paying back the campaign donors that got them elected or feathering their nests for when their constituents wisen up and vote them out.

David is right about Clinton being two-faced, but Obama is too. He proposed a gas tax moratorium several months ago, but now he's against it? He said Rev. Wright is "like family" but now Obama is distancing himself from Wright, now that Wright is showing a side Obama didn't know. For 20 years Wright has been preaching anti-US, anti-white, hatred, and Obama has just now realized this? I don't believe it.

I don't know if McCain is much better... he's been laying low (wisely) and letting Obama and Clinton self-destruct. I think it's going to come down to the same as the last 10 presidential elections: I'll have to vote for the least bad, and that's sad situation. I wish we didn't have the Democrat and Republican parties. I wish every candidate spoke for themselves and didn't have to drag along their party's agenda. I also wish that candidates didn't owe so much to their campaign contributors... they might actually follow the *people's* will.

I have to say that even though a lot is worse now than it was 8 years ago, overall, I'm much better off financially than I was under Bill Clinton. Even with higher prices, my job is safer, and I have a bit left over every month after paying all the bills. I couldn't say that during Bill's reign.

I'll decide who I feel I can trust less and vote against them... as usual. Sigh...

Ya, #2 left us with that giant f***in cliffhanger, then they send us on a flashback in the third? I was so annoyed, but...I played the whole game and beat it anyway. IMO it was like what they did with Call of Duty 3; it was the same as the second one, just less exciting and with a couple tweaks, so that they could have more time to finish the kickass fourth game. Just a theory, but...maybe. I still go back and play the second one occasionally, much better than it's sequel for me.

I found the story to be not up to MGS standards and I hated the camoflauge system. Other than that though it's a good game but the previous two kicked its arse. Kali, nah, I can't stand shows about cops. When I was a kid, I watched Heartbeat with my olds, that probably ruined it for me :P I'm an escapist though, I don't like my entertainment to too closely reflect the real world, or I get bored. Dvds are great to have for shows you really like. Then you can watch your favorite episodes over and over.

Kali, trust me, I've seen forensic shows, completely and utterly not my thing. Bores the tears outta me, lol. Sorry, but I have no idea what you see in them. Just another boring version of the soap opera, if you ask me.

ALTHOUGH - that show, 'Dexter' I think it's called, about the serial killer cop is pretty damn good. I've seen a couple of episodes. Worth watching.

I agree fully about Dexter! My fascanation with forensic shows (like 48 hours mystery and Secrets of the dead) is 80 percent science and 20 percent the story. How Crime Scene Specialists solve crimes through the use of bullistics/tool mark examinations, latent finger prints, blood splatter and DNA annalysis just amazes me to no end. I for a long time pondered a carrer in forensics, however I am disenchanted by the fact that it would require me dealing with people that I would want to off myself. I still study as a hobby just to full fill my quench for forensic knowladge. The one thing that does bother me when it comes to forensic shows like CSI Miami is that they way to often have the female CSI at the crime scene with her hair down and flinging it around, you also get them not wearing anywhere near the proper attire and when in the lab they do not wear a mask to cover their mouth.

Ah yes the Rainbow innuendo story. Rainbow was a childrens show that aired from the 70s 'til about 1990 I think. The story behind that "banned" episode is that, every year at Granada (the studios where Rainbow was produced) around Christmas time, the shows would have a little competition to see who could make the funniest short involving their show, which obviously, Rainbow won that year. So it isn't in fact a real episode, just something the actors and puppeteers did for fun.

And Holy God I remember Heartbeat. It was a show set in the 60s about a village, usually focused somewhat on the police but it wasn't really a cop show per se. It was boring as hell though. I've never seen CSI or Deter so I can't judge.

I also forgot to mention Dilbert in TV shows that I watch lol.
