Metal Underground.com Celebrates Seven Years Of Supporting Metal
Where do the years go? Metalunderground.com is yet another year older. We have now been supporting metal and the underground for over seven years. I started Metalunderground.com back in 2001. I had been working on it since 2000 and launched a beta version before embarking on a trip overseas to get married. Upon my return in mid-April, I launched the site officially and began posting news and continuing development.
Each year I've been amazed by the growth of the site and our readership, especially in light of the fact that this is not my full time job and there's so much more I want to do with the site, both in terms of features and promotion. A lot of people have helped Metalunderground.com grow to the point it's at today, but I have to say that this year we absolutely have the best, most well-rounded staff ever, and I am truly excited to see where we're headed in the coming years.
In the past year:
- The site moved to a new web host and server
- The comment spam issue was resolved (it only takes me two minutes a day to delete all the spam and you don't have to see it at all)
- We've improved the amount and stability of our news coverage
- We've got more quality interviews with bands
- We've added a couple more photographers and
- We are finally hitting our stride with the reviews section with the addition of numerous quality writers and reviewers, several from our very own community.
Since the site's inception, we've posted over 35,000 news posts and covered more than 6,000 bands that are in our database. We currently serve well over 500,000 page views per month to over 200,000 visitors.
Many thanks to all of our contributors and all of our readers, especially those who have made Metalunderground.com their primary place to get their metal news and those who contribute to civilized discussions on a regular basis. In addition, I want to thank all of the bands, labels and PR folks who have supported us over the years and the chaotic times when we were stretched thin.
Spread the word and let's make the next seven years even better!

This site is my home but I have to admit that among all the posts that are on this site, a lot are NOT civilized at all and for that my apologies...but it's like a lot of fun too. Glad to be a user on this site and thanks to deathbringer for his work and dedication.
Listening to : Heaven Shall Burn Like A thousand Suns
I went to school on my 7th bday! That was the only thing I hated about being an October baby! I remember my Reno family being upset because they never got to celebrate my bday with me because my Mom, Dad and Sis lived in Oregon. So one time on a summer visit they threw me a surprize bday party in August! I go into my Aunt and Uncles house and they screamed "SURPRIZE" and I was like "wait, what did I miss? Whos bday is it?" They told me it was mine and why it was in August. One of the niceist things my Reno family ever did for me. Got a sweet Whinnie the Pooh diary that later housed the poems I did not want my parents to read as they were a tad on the black metal side.
Damnit! I missed your birthday!? I'll make it up to you next year. I'll buy you a pony, I swear to god. Better yet, I'll book a show with Cannibal Corpse and Gwar and give THEM the pony! Think of the possibilities!
This site handsdown is the best Metal site anywhere. Happy 7th ya little twat!
Now Playing: Ted Maul- "For The Innocent"
I'd like to thank deathbringer not only for his tireless work (I know not where he gets the time) but also for taking me on as a staff member. I was just an all too vocal visitor for many moons and he must have read something he liked.
During my best times this site is a great creative outlet for me and at my worst it's a damn good distraction. Also many thanks to the rest of the staff, and all the regular visitors, you all make this one of my favorite haunts.
Now Playing: Behold...The Arctopus - "Skullgrid"
I'm with RM?, Deathbringer deserves all the respect in the world for the amount of work he puts into this site. It's mad. Many thanks to him for allowing me on board and I hope I've helped this site out as best I can.
Also many thanks to all other staff members, particularly Mindslavor who passed me onto Deathbringer to get the gig here. And of course, where would this site be without the regs that make this site worth reading the comments!?
Now playing: 2pac- Hit 'Em Up
Well I got carried away thanking Deathbringer because I kinda think of it as his bday not the admins. I do thank ALL you guys for helping Deathbringer and all you do for us and the site.
Psythe, in regards to my diary it was what I had to do in order to write my true feelings and my true creative thoughts. Hahaha!
I did and took a gander at your profile. I love your funny pics and the tee shirt hell stuff. You were right though. You kinda got the normie look to you. A wearwolf in sheeps clothing Id say! Dr Seusse was always around as a kid. Mum is a huge fan! Try Whinnie the Pooh stoned and loaded. You wont regret it! Hahahaha!
im suprised no one has said anything about post 37 yet, maybe you all know what that is already.
one of my favorites is winnie the pooh's great adventure: the search for christopher robin. Dr seuss is cool too, but the cat in the hat thing gets repetitive, but its still fun to read.
lol, I dunno about the werewolf bit- too much hair isn't my idea of sexy hahah.
Sorry Liquid, but post37 was pretty boring. 36 was great though.
My thanks, also to Deathbringer. I don't do anywhere near as much here as I should, and he's never put a hard word to me, even though he's constantly flat-out himself. You're a good man, mate. And thanks for the reviewing opportunity, I'm really enjoying it. Here's to 7 being a lucky number :)
Very nice - I like that. Wenis - educated me on that one. Congrutulations Metal Underground for welcoming me to your site - it continues to be a blast reading your articles, and chatting with other members. It is nice to actually have a chance to talk metal with fans who know their metal news. My workplace is full of country lovers...the hell with that!!! So I am an oddity at work..but accepted...hehe
I would like to thank my friends I have made on this site. Those who have taken time and energy to defend me as a sister, admins and regs alike. This has been one of the best sites online for a woman like me and glad I found it! You regs and admins have made me feel great and my opinions welcome and most of all valid. I love you guys and think you f***ing rock!
I still haven't seen Transformers either. I'm also yet to see the latest Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles flick but the new Rambo was well worth my money. Not the best film in terms of story or anything but an hour and a half splatterfest, love it!
Damn what does this have to do with MU? Ummm, MU 4 life y'all (lol A7X fan speak).
Now playing: Drowning Pool- Shame
Kali, the new Transformers movie, or the original one?
Havn't seen the new TMNT movie either, apparently it's not too bad. Rambo, on the other hand, was a godawful movie. Unless you were watching it for the splatter, in which case it was indeed something of a festival. Probably the most ridiculous movie I've ever seen. Including Ultra-Violet.
Which Turtle was the one with the purple and the staff? Easily the best of them!
Now Playing: Neil Young - "Alabama"
Transformers was the sh**. The old one was good if you just liked the idea of giant robots fighting. The new one is cool no matter what you like, it's just awesome.
TMNT was much better than i expected actually, I liked it personally. The cartoon was still waaaaay more f***in badass though (kinda odd to say that about a cartoon aimed at 8-year olds, but I don't care, it was f***in badass!) All they needed was for them to actually STAB the ninja's once in a while, y'know? Then the show would have been f***in the badassf***inthesh**tastic!
Oh, and ummm... MU is the sh**. lol
Now Playing: Faze-G- "Look Up In The Sky"
CTJJ, if it makes you feel any better I have a black eye. My Dimmu shirt is missing and thought it might be in my ol mans clean laundry. So when I had him look (due to the fact that he has a ton of his riffles and swords in his side of the closet mixed in with his clothing), he in my opinion did not look very hard. So I got tenaciouse and decided I would look myself. I was going through and doing some organizeing and the pomel of his sword flew out of no where and smacked me in the right side on my cheek bone! Needless to say over night blood began to pool in the bags of my eye! My ol man warned me too, but did I listen? No and damn did I learn that was stupid! Still no Dimmu shirt to add insult to injury. I laughed about it though, I am a metaller woman not emo!
The news is irresitable to talk about. Atleast to me, but a chat thread would make the news threads more about the news at hand because we would have an off topic thread to post in. Just my opinion/suggestion I am throwing out there that I think would be a cool thing to have on MU.
My Grandfather is in the hostpital due to a heart attack. I dont know what to do, the man has been the formadable one in my family. They say he will be o.k, but to be honest this scares me. He had a quadrupal bi pass and no one told me! Its not enough that I worry about another grandfather, but I have to deal with both of my close grandfathers at once!! The third ne I never got close enough to. Someone wake me when its over!! Goppa Bob and Ken I love you!!
sorry kalis about your grandfather having a heart attack, all i can do is hope for the best, all you can really do kalis, is just love him, stay by him, confort him, cause these times are scary, emotional, despressing, and if he does pass, this the soul would like to go in peace, knowing it was loved, no one knows what death holds, so these times are scary, anyways hope your grandfather make a full recover, just take care of him the best you can, hope, or pray, that he recovers, because, respecting or loving someone, is the best thing you can do, and is the most you can give
p.s. hope everything turns out ok, with your grandfather, just hold your head high and hope for the best
Ayo, my pen and paper cause a chain reaction
To get your brain relaxing, cause they be acting maniac in action
A brainiac in fact son, you mainly lack attraction
You look insanely whack when just a fraction of my tracks spun
My rhyming skills got you climbing hills
I travel through your mind into you spine like siren drills
I'm sliming grills of roaches, with sprayed on disinfectants
Twist the necks of rappers 'til their spinal column disconnects
