Every Time I Die Vocalist Discusses Pantera Cover Controversy
Recently, METAL Injection had the pleasure of interviewing Keith and Jordan Buckley of EVERY TIME I DIE. The interview, peppered with sarcasm, is available now at this location.
During the interview, Keith was asked to talk about what has become a very controversial clip on the internet of him performing a cover of PANTERA's Walk with FALL OUT BOY. After joking around a bit, Keith said point blank: "If you're against people playing music with friends, then I don't even know what you're doing in music at all."
You really can't argue with that logic. Watch the full interview here.

It's not controversial because it was one band playing with another, or even because it was one guy jamming with his friends. It's controversial because it's two awful, awful bands (or members thereof) doing an awful, awful job of covering an excellent, much-loved song by an excellent, much-loved band. I don't care if you're playing with JESUS, man, if you play that badly, don't play. Or at least have the compassion to make sure it's never released, if it must be recorded at all.

I agree 100% with dmasa!!! it looked like a crappy local band doing a cover that is waaaayyyyy out of their league....and it was caught on film.....and Fall out boy is gay as hell...i cant belive they get categorized as a metal band! What has the world come to?

I can't hate on this one... i don't know how many times I'll be jamming around with my friends and one of us randomly figure out the part to some lame song. After that anything that was once serious about the jam session is crapped on as we spend the next 20 minutes goofing around.

Yea the guy who played in Pantera which started off as a glam metal band is going to stab someone in the nuts because a pop punk band and a metalcore band played one of his songs if he was alive. Sure man. Have you seen pics of the glam metal Pantera? Dime wore makeup and they look gay as hell.

Obviously waddup, you arent a big Pantera fan, because then you would know that they were somewhat a glam metal band, but with mostly Terry Glaze as the singer, and one album with Phil as well that were more on the glam side. I mean ozzy did it too, so who gives a sh**. Its still hard for me to look at all those pics of them with all that makeup. And the cover is lame with fall out boy, they could of atleast sang all the lyrics.

So, um.. FOB might be a total crap, but it is at least comforting that they know some music other than spears, timerbutt and all the other cruddy crud out there.
But tell ya what, a$$holes...the fact that fall out boy covered "walk" didn't even phase me....who the f*** cares, stop being so f***in chest beatin' ignorant!!!!!!but the crack about "killing DIMEBAG again" f***in' infuriated me........f*** YOU!!!!!! Thats one thing thats not to be wise cracking about....f*** YOU!!! I'll be not buying, and gettin rid of all EVERY TIME I DIE material, just cause of the fact that they didn't set that f*** head straight when he said this.

This was seriously both one of the most hilarious and disturbing displays of music I have ever saw. I am p***ed that they recked the song, I can't imagine someone playing it worse than they did, but it is hilarious because they just proved why they are such a horrible band in the clip. Way to go FOB for having an ego and thinking you can play a song from a band that actually put time and effort into their musical abilities. Way to go, sellouts.

I love both Every Time I Die and Pantera, and despise Fall Out Boy. But I agree with Keith, because whats more fun then playing music with your friends?
